Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. If any of you have 5-10 minutes, I would greatly appreciate it if you can take this survey on Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOL). It is completely anonymous, it is not asking for any email, name, etc. Once the survey is closed, we will publish the results so that you can a learn a little more about the landscape of the world of adult LEGO fanatics Most of the questions are VERY general, nothing will make your head hurt. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/lego_afol_survey Thank you

Right now, the Brick Store has only a small variety of kits ranging up to 1,000,000 brick points. Most of those kits are not interesting to me so I created this Topic so all we brickpickers could show what WE want in the Brick Store. P.S I am saving up for the Lego Minecraft Kit. Green Thumbs up if you are too!

  3. Lately you know that we have been trying out somethings that can be helpful to both the website and of course yourself. One thing I have been watching for a long time is that we don't get a lot of mentions or much information out there on the social media platforms. We would definitely like to expand our presence in this world. You will notice a bar that runs along the bottom of the site that says "Rewards". This is totally separate from Brickpoints. By helping share the content here on the site, you will earn points to where you can claim prizes. The current prizes are offered through their website, gift cards to Target, Starbucks and a chance to be entered …

  4. I am happy to announce that we were able to work out a deal with Raise.com (a discount gift card) website. We noticed some of you have been using another service, but they really didn't reply to our messages. Raise.com was happy to work with us and looks to have many of the retail shops that we talk about here covered. Some of the deals will be e-codes that only work online and will be given to you quickly. Others will be physical cards that are shipped out to you. Regardless, this is a great way to shave another 5% or more off purchases. Obviously we would like to keep this partnership and that only works if you guys use the links here to show them you want to use …

Hello BrickPicker Members... Our site has grown tremendously over the past year and with the recent USA TODAY article, has really exploded in new members. Jeff and I have decided to add some Moderators to our team: stephen_rockefeller TheOrcKing Mos_Eisley stackables Rich B Please continue with the quality threads, posts and topics we have seen over the past year. The Moderators are here to help keep the forums clean, proper and free of spam. We have been very lucky so far with the lack of trolls and idiots, but now we should have a constant monitoring of the site by multiple people besides Jeff and I. As the site grows busier, we will no doubt en…

Hello fellow and future BrickPicker members. I just want to bring to your attention that Jeff and I have launched the new site upgrade. Included in this major site update is the following: - Currency settings - Share Brickfolio - Custom sets - Performance Enhancements - New Navigation - Importing of sets tells you what sets weren't imported These are just a few of the major improvements made to the Brickpicker site. Jeff has been working for months on this major site update. It will lay the basis for many future ideas and improvements. While this update answers many of the most common issues of the site, it is no…

A new way to earn Brickpoints and increase the quality and quantity of the site's content has been born: Article Suggestions. Here is how the process will work: 1- Members who don't have the time or simply don't feel like writing an article, but have a great idea for one, will post the idea in this thread. One of the mods will then add the idea to this first post, including who originally posted it. 2- Anyone who is seriously interested in writing an article based on any of the ideas posted in this thread will have the chance to "claim" the one they would like to write about. Basically, it is a way for those that don't have the time to add articles to the site to sti…

  9. Well Ed and I are happy to finally release the updated set guide page that includes pricing for sold listings for the UK, EU Region and Australia. For a while before actually working on the data, I myself was rather hesitant if it was worth all the trouble adding and the cost, but honestly....WOW!!!, there really is quite a difference for many sets and this definitely was a great upgrade and without a doubt makes Brickpicker the most informative LEGO price guide on the internet. Quick note: Make sure you reload your page to down the lastest style sheets and/or scripts to make sure the page looks correct All pricing is based on native currency, there are no more c…

as others (not being in US region) Im quite disappointed that BP for the course of the past year is unable to display "avg prices" for a lot of sets outsde the US region. Im familiar with methodics that there has to be some relevant amount of sets being sold (cca 50 or so) to publish some relevant information.. but what should I think of the situation when the first wave of BrickHeadz for the last 6 months HAS NOT GOTTEN any EU, UK or AUS relevant price???? These items are being sold on the espective ebay sites. And not liike "two per month".. I took that time to compare some sold listings on UK ebay: 75059 Sandcrawler. within the period of June 14 - September …

DadsAFOL, I am going to hijack your initial post here to put what I had written up but couldn't post because I had no idea my internet just went down, but you still get the credit for finding it first Today, Ed and I are very happy to announce that the BrickPicker Price Guide now includes current pricing from BrickLink. This has been a request that we have been asked about MANY times over the past few years and there wasn't really all the much we could do. We asked and while there was interest, not much could be done with the old owners of the site. A few days ago, I received a note from the COO of BrickLink asking if we interested in moving forward with what can …

Not sure if this will/should be moved and stickied, but we need a thread to say thanks! Yes, thanking other members for such services as: hooking you up with coupons, finding deals, helping with info and much more is needed to show the love around here... I'll start it off and say, Thanks hxckid88, you hooked me up with a much needed B&****** 20% coupon, which will be put to good use! See how easy that was? Now you give it a go!

  13. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, we are ending the Brickpoints program here on Brickpicker. Ending Brickpoints was both and easy and a hard decision for Ed and I. We really like the points program and have generated dozens of ideas for how to earn them and how to spend them. Of course Brickpoints was going to play a large focus in Brick Classifieds until we really started to ask the questions of how we wanted to do things in the future. Getting feedback, seeing what people are doing on the site all start to help you make changes and move in a new direction. Points are great, but most people really like payment of real tangible items. Moving forward, we would a…

Hey Ed and Jeff what happened to the brickpoints? forgive me if you posted something about it in the other forum topic, if you did, I missed it.

  15. I have been working on adding more pricing/sale information from more retailers than we currently are displaying. I am looking to learn from our NON USA members where you look daily for LEGO deals. While our site is still largely US based other regions have been growing nicely as well and we would like to try and provide more information for you as well. Below are some of the shops I have been looking at for Australia. Let me know if these sites are worth my time to work on, or do you not buy from them at all? If you live in Canada, France, Italy, Spain, anywhere, let me know if there is a store/site/whatever that is worth reaching out to to get LEGO listings. …

  16. I will keep this short. Please read my very first community blog entry on the new feature Brickpicker Community Blogs. http://community.brickpicker.com/blog/1/entry-39-introducing-brickpicker-community-blogs/

  17. Just a quick note that the April and May (2014) Data is now available. I am just going to ask that you still give me a day or so to filter through some stuff. This is basically "hot off the presses", so there may be some anomalies that I find and filter out. For the LEGO virtual investing game going on, if you do an update that is fine, let people know where they are, but again, I may ask you to re-run it in a day or two. I am just happy that the data is now there. I will also looking through the new sets that have been released to make sure they have values. An interesting thing to note which Ed as mentioned in many of his postings is that since the announceme…

  18. Disclaimer: This is an opinion piece Brickpicker from an article standpoint is becoming a barking carny yelling "BUY BUY BUY". This site is a GREAT information source and LEGO investment tool for all, that being said I need to see a more unbiased opinion when it comes to the articles. This would greatly benefit the reputation of the site as a trusted source to use. (Anyone that can potentially benefit from click-thru affiliate revenue from this site is not considered an unbiased contributor) I understand that the investment losers might be harder to find in this market, so I can see the ease of saying BUY BUY BUY, but the losers are out there and need to be addresse…

Just a fair warning to everyone as the Double Brickpoints event will be ending by tomorrow on September 21. I would guess by the end of the day at 11:59 PM (unless Ed or Jeff need to correct me here) so if you have any set reviews or blogs in the works get them done pronto! :frantics: :frantics: :frantics: EDIT: Thanks for the reminder...We have decided to extend it October 31, 2013...Halloween. Good luck. Ed

In case you haven't noticed, the forum has been down and the homepage is modified. Jeff is doing some modifications that require the forum to be closed to members. It will be an on and off type of situation over the next several days as Jeff is improving some features. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you will understand more in the upcoming weeks when you see how the new forum interacts with the rest of the site. Some really cool features coming soon. Thanks. Ed

Maybe a few of you read the USA TODAY newspaper(about 3.2 million people do on a daily basis), but BRICKPICKER.COM has the "cover story" in the MONEY section of today's paper. We will have more information to follow, but this was one of the "behind the scenes" big deals I have been hinting at for awhile now. As soon as we get an online version, we will post it. Thanks...

  22. To all BrickPicker members... I just want to bring to your attention(if you are not aware already), that a huge storm is heading towards the middle Atlantic Coast of the United States. The center of the storm is supposed to hit central New Jersey on Monday and remain in the area for days. The storm is supposed to knock down a million trees across the Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York City areas. I would imagine that there will be millions without power for an extended period of time. Jeff and I both live in central New Jersey and it's safe to say that we will be without power as well. The servers for the site are in Texas, so I don't think the site will hav…

  23. Just need to make a quick announcement.... We are requesting that none of our members post any images or information about the upcoming Black Friday deals until we make an announcement that it is approved by the retailers. I have already received very explicit instructions not to announce Black Friday deals early from a few of our affiliate programs. I am sure there will be plenty of places that do release info and that is totally up to them to do so. The retailers are making it "pretty clear" that there will be hell to pay if caught doing so. Reluctantly, we will need to remove any posts that we feel that could be violating their notice. Thanks for…

Anyone have any guesses on the next BrickPoints Contest? I am going to guess that the prize is going to be eithe a LEGO Shop at Home giftcard or one of the following: - 10228 Haunted House - 10224 Town Hall - 10225 UCS R2-D2 - 8110 Unimog - 10227 UCS B-Wing - 10232 Palace Cinema Based on the results that Ed got from the survey on a "Hypothetical Contest", looks like the Gift Card is the most popular, though it would pose a couple difficulties, as we also have many international members here who have inflated set costs (I feel for you guys! ). You can see that thread HERE. We will get the to know the actual contest tomorrow, April 1st, …

Some members here have posted that they would like have an Amazon Price Grid type page on Brickpicker that will allow you to view all the discounts on a single page. This would be similar to the page that is on Brickset. I have started to put together a page like this: http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/amazon.cfm It is a work in progress, but it allows you to see all the sets that are 10% or greater. At the top of the page you can change the currency so that you can see what the local price may be for you. Right now I am also showing the lowest record price for USA and GBR. I will continue to look to obtain the other regions over time as well. I am showing…
