I'm interested in hearing about the rarest sets/minifigures/pieces that everyone has been fortunate to own. So what was the single rarest LEGO product you have/had? Is it part of your personal collection, or are you planning on selling it? Up until today, the rarest set I currently own was 3300003, LEGO Store Set. However, since I have started to collect the Superman theme in its entirety, I splurged and bought myself the 2012 SDCC Bizarro Minifigure. Now I am lucky enough to own every Superman set/minifigure that has been produced (until the SDCC 2013 minifig comes out). So show off your most prized possession so the rest of us can drool over it!!!!

I've read some blogs and have some very basic Excel spreadsheet experience. But, my spreadsheet looks pretty awful and isn't very user friendly. It would be awesome if someone with a really nice, Lego specific, Excel spreadsheet wanted to share their blank template for those on this site........ I really like the way you can export the brickfolio data to Excel, but I like to customize my spreadsheet and add sales data, which makes importing new data impossible.

Someone posted a link to the USA Today article on the LEGO sub-reddit on reddit.com. http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/15menn/usa_today_wrote_a_great_story_on_lego_as_an/ There really hasn't been much love for this site on there in the past, but I noticed we were getting a good amount of traffic from there today and wanted to see what was going on. I noticed a comment that I have seen on this site before and a few other forums. "This is why we can never find clearance lego or the larger sets on Buy 1 get one. These aholes hoarde all the sets at the expense of our children. Screw them , wont be buying their 129 dollar asking price for Minecraft lol." I hon…

Via the Brickfan: LEGO has announced four days early that there will be a big announcement soon! My guess is that LEGO will be rebooting classic space, because of the test card pattern, which includes all the colors of classic spacemen. Click here to see what the Brickfan has to say about it.

Apologies if this topic has been discussed previously or elsewhere. I'm starting out in brickvesting and I'm a bit unsure how one should store lego sets to best preserve the box? I live in a mediterannean climate so most of the year is quite dry, but it can be quite damp in June-August. So far I've wrapped sets in a thin plastic with a few sachets of silica in each. Those are then stored in larger boxes, which again have some silica inside. I'm not aiming at building a massive inventory as I'm based in South Africa and our AFOL base is still growing. At the moment I'm just acquiring 2-3 each of the big sets as they go EOL and I'll start selling in two years or so. Due…

The writing is on the wall, I decided to get out now while market prices are still (marginally) profitable. Feels good, and the free’d space in the house is a plus. From here forward all LEGO sets will be those we actually want to build.

I had a customer purchase a Sydney Opera House (Architecture) off of me for $71 after shipping. Apparently, I forgot to take the $39.95 label off the bottom (thanks Barnes and Noble). Now she wants a refund. Amazon contacted me, and said the following: Details: Customer received in the box label of the manufacturer, sticker $39.95. Now customer demands a refund for this case since she paid $71.04. Please research the issue and contact the customer at XXX-XXX-XXXX. /sigh I called her back and got an answering machine. I said who I was and why I was calling but was cryptic because who knows if the person the item was intended for would hear. Just said tha…

A few weeks back, we posted a survey to help learn more about who the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) is. Today I will be able to share those results with you in a nice illustrated format. Over the five day period, we received 579 replies and collected information from members at Brickpicker as well as help from other LEGO communities including Brickset, BrickFanatics and The Brick Fan. We would really like to thank them for helping to get the word out and collect data from different regions. It is a rather large graphic below and I tried to compress it has much as possible while keeping it looking nice. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you anything surprises you. …

With the talk of different thinks that may hurt resellers, which do you think poses the most risk? At what time of course effects this. Obviously 3D printing, for example, won't be causing serious harm in the next 6 months. So shall we say flipping/investing in 2-3 years? Very interested to see your opinions. Personally, I find fake sets/minifigs as very threatening, though at the same time, there are still some it shouldn't effect. The people who will pay nearly 2,000 dollars for the Millennium Falcon? Not going to be buying that, I think. So it should not effect ALL the market, but definitely important.

I am looking at buying a Taj Mahal from somebody. Haven't seen the box in person yet but it's supposed to be unopened (but with some damage). I am hoping I could at least verify the weight is correct before buying it, since it's kind of a big investment.

The quality standards at LEGO have long been understood to be among the best, but I doubt that could be accepted as fact any longer. This Brickset article mentions the latest, but there have been far more issues of late - What are the reasons? Can it, will it be stopped? If not, how bad will things get? http://brickset.com/article/16630/what-s-wrong-with-the-x-wing

Saran wrap is mentioned thrice in all content so I figured I'd ask here. Would it be advisable to wrap [LEGO] boxes for long term storage as a collector? I'm already storing them in a low humidity unfinished area on shelving. I've seen mentioned that people have used industrial grade shipping plastic wrap as well. I was just unsure if there is any chemicals on saran wrap that would damage the boxes. This is mainly to keep dust/potential bugs off of them. Any other ideas for inexpensive transparent wrap welcome. Another question is to individually wrap all lego or combine multiple same size sets (i.e. constrations, microfighters) or does this risk box wear/sticking t…

Recently I have found quite a few thrift shop lots in full gallon bags. Just curious what people are generally paying. I have picked them all up for about $8 a bag.

What would be your vote for the next theme for Lego to do? I think my vote would be for theme parks. I think it would be cool to see roller coasters etc.

I've seen in the Lego LEGO Shop at Home this tag that identifies some items In this category there are some old sets but some new sets too, like 10226 Sopwith Camel and 10220 Volkswagen Van what's the meaning of this category? "hard to find" because they produce not a lot numbers? Is it right to consider to invest for this reason?

Hello, I've been involved in various retail and service industries for over 30 years and was thinking about opening a brick and mortar toy store that involves LEGO in some way. Before I contact the LEGO Toy Dealers program, I would like to know if any of you have had experience trying to open a non-LEGO(franchise) LEGO toy store or if you know of any successful independent toy stores that do well selling LEGO sets. Information on this topic is scarce, so any information could help. Thank you.

As the cost of retired sets move higher and higher I was wondering which ones people have resigned to the "set that got away" category. For me, they are the Taj Mahal, 10179 Falcon, and the Unexpected Gathering.

Seems like a good time to evaluate everyone´s best and worst investment decisions of the year. Please comment with your best and worst decision or purchase (max 2 per person). My best move was to go in hard on Dragon Sanctuaries. Even at RRP, they have brought excellent ROI and opened my eyes to a previously unknown theme. Runner up was 41122 Adventure Treehouse - great little earner at Xmas time when bought cheap. Girlie themes all the way in 2017. My worst move is a tie between over investing in IST 75094s at too high a buy-in and missing out on the TRU flash sale with 70323 Jestro´s Lair at 27 euros. That set is going for 100 right now and looks set to be a w…
