City/Town

Discussion for collecting and investing in City/Town themed sets.

  1. Started by TheOrcKing,

Some of the other threads we have about speculating possible sets in the future or coming up with a personal wishlist got me thinking maybe we should have one for the longest running staple in Lego of City. So simply put what would you like to see as a future City set? (Aside from less coppers. Haha.)

Here's the 60060 Auto Transporter: It looks like it has a new design. It's not just one of those same old trucks that we usually see in the City theme. What are your thoughts on this set?

Need some advise please. This is a set that 4 of the kids on my list want. Does anyone think the price will be reduced before Christmas (other than then 2 or 3 bucks from Amazon)? Does anyone think it will be unavailable by Christmas? Any advise would be appreciated.

I am pretty thrilled about this set, it looks to be pretty clear cut investment winner, possessing pretty much everything needed to do very well. The set is very large with a high price tag It is very rare and exclusive and unlikely to have a another release that is similar in design Couple that with a short production cycle with limited availability and you could most likely take that to the bank.

Brickset posted the following description about this City Summer 2016 set: Sounds similar to the Winter Village Market, with a lot of little minibuilds. Honestly, I love the idea of some "civilian" sets (outside of the Creator line). This is a winner to me.

A few leaked images from some sets now doing the rounds. We get a combine harvester and a large fire set that isn´t actually a fire station.

Anyone have any thoughts on these. I have never really done much with the city except for the big stuff. I like this set but the price seems high. I do know people love chips but not sure on these types of ships.

So I was looking on the TRU page and it appears that the Ice Breaker has been removed again. Even 4204 The Mine hasn't been removed yet! Was last week's 20% off so that they could do a massive blowout of these?

  18. I don't have anything definate; just a page on Brickset showing that the City Corner set may be re-released this year with a new number. I'm not sure why Lego would have two rather similiar sets beside one another with the Town Square coming out later for $119.99. Maybe they think the sales of one could help stimulate the other?

The new City Mining Collection was just released last week. What are the chances for a non-licensed theme such as this to appreciate in the after market with so many licensed themes coming out at the same time? With LoTR and Monster Fighters both debuting at nearly the same time it seems that the Mining Theme got mostly ignored. I for one like it a lot and plan to get all the sets. I especilly like The Mine (4204) and the large Mining Truck (4202). In general this theme includes minifigs, a variety of interesting vehicles with cool attachments, and an overall fun concept of a gold mine. I hope this theme get some positive attention and is not overlooked. …

If some new rumors are true, we'll be seeing a zoo ($159) and a farm ($129) in 2021. I would like a farm city sub-theme over a single farm set but given the possible size of a $129 set this could still be exciting. I saw this on instagram. With some other similar 2021 rumors recently, StoneWars has posted something within a few days after instagram, so I'll be watching for that as a confirmation. Also, Cruise Ship ($69), Cabin ($49), and Royal Carriage ($39).
