Had one of these moments this morning. Forgot that I bought 2 Cuusoo Hayabusa's last year at 50CDN and now they're going for at least 100USD. BOO-YA!

Yeah, you know the rest. When I read the story of the BPer here who opened up a box of puzzle pieces instead of LEGO I thoroughly enjoyed freaking out and waving my arms around and generally joining the discussion. I really didn't ever expect, though, that I'd have my own story to tell! Bought a Daily Bugle on clearance at a local Kmart a few weeks ago. Got to parting out our pile of Daily Bugles tonight, opened this one and... yeah, LEGO bags containing a lot of random junk toys. Some of them are actually either reglued or heat sealed. Pretty amazing, going to return it tommorow. In my defense, when you see the photo of the seal, it doesn't look o…

With the surprising success of The Beatles Yellow Submarine passing the IDEAS evaluation, what other musical masters would you like to see make their way into LEGO form? Before I had mentioned a Jimi Hendrix tribute would be far out well as that Ziggy Stardust bust from a while back.

So I have plenty of experience cleaning used lego by now and have my process down pretty well, but I was curious if anyone who buys large lots of used lego has any good tips for cleaning pieces with applied stickers to them?? I would think you cannot soak them like you can with regular bricks, and I know some people use the washing machine method and I would assume you definitely cannot do that with sticker pieces either. All I could think of is a wet paper towel and wipe them? or even a little alcohol on a paper towel and a quick wipe down? Curious to hear if anyone has figured out a good system for this! Thanks! ?

So on a previous post i had shown my recent shopping rampage at wal mart. I was actually thinking of parting out some of these sets, but have mostly changed my mind and decided to just stick with Real Estate Investing Instead of spending time parting these out. So my Lego investment strategy is just buy and hold. Now I have everything stacked and organized and must return many of the items back to the store shelves. Here is the actual break down of what i have at the moment and I was wondering what would you return if you were me. I have had some good mentoring and some good advice and i i understand there are many different opinions on this site. Its just really hard t…

Got to catch them all! What Lego themes do you go all in for? You've just got to buy every single item, from large expensive set to small obscure polybag. Something small like LotR or Monster Fighters, or are you crazy enough to go all out for every Star Wars set? Or what Lego items or subthemes to you have to have every one of? Like every UCS set, or something small like every CMF in a costume (Lizard guy, Hotdog, Unicorn etc) For me it was Lord of the Rings sets (not Hobbit). I have every LotR set across both waves, from the mighty Orthanc to the rare 5000202 Elrond Polybag. Although recently I've started selling off some of my sets to make display room …

Hi, I'm new at the Lego investing game, although I have been a reseller for years. My son is a big Lego enthusiast, so this is something we can do together. So far I am averaging about $1000 per month on lego purchases. I spent a lot last month because I was able to get some really great deals locally on some big sets, but now this is really draining my bank account. I am actually buying more than I am selling on Ebay. I haven't sold any of my newly acquired sets, because I am waiting for them to increase in value. From reading this forum, it sounds like its a minimum of 6 months. So this brings me to the question.. how do you guys afford to spend so much on sets that you…

Whether you sold one rare set for crazy net profit or flipped +50 of the same set and still counting...which Lego set has been most profitable overall for you? Total net cash accumulated. Not including polybags. I'm only approaching yr 1 in investing so my inventory/transaction history is rather short, so for me it would have to be the Technic Exculsive Crawler (followed by the Hulk Helicarrier Break out which is gaining fast). Seems like a slow day on the forums (and bored at work haha), curious which sets other people cashed/cashing in on...money makers. Lets see if there are surprises...

Hi everyone, First off, I want to say that i just registered on this site today. This site is just amazing and I absolutely love it! Kudos to the owner or owners of this amazing website. I just started investing a couple years ago. I live here in Dallas, TX. I have gotten pretty close to the Lego store and the manager here in our city. We have a very nice working relationship. They do not hesitate to give me any kind of info I need. Anyway, just a couple of days ago, one of the secondary managers told me that Lego will be cracking down on bulk buyers both online and in their stores. They showed me the email they are sending out to people like this.…

I thought it would be a good idea to have a place where we can list the polybags and minifigures we have for trade. Just list your location, haves and wants. This should help finding those elusive polys and aid in completing the collectable minifig sets. I will be putting my list together in the next couple of days. Location: US Haves: Wants:

There was a lot of talk recently on the retirement speculation tread of sets people hate. Some because they just wouldn't go away, like the Pet Shop or T1 VW Camper Van, others because they were over produced like the Exo-Suit, some others like Arkham Asylum for not living up to people's expectations. Just wondering what sets people here really dislike, whether as an investment or as a set they built. My personal one is the very first set I bought as an investment, 4 x Superman: Black Zero Escape. They were 55% off and already retired and I thought with the minifigures it had that it would be a surefire winner, instead I'm selling it for a few quids prof…

I'll go first Disney will go full press on marketing the 90 year old mouse...as a tester for the century mark coming up...ANYTHING w/ that 90 year emblem becomes collectible...especially high quality name brand licensed material NOT MADE BY DISNEY...enter the Brick Headz Mickey...I predict unprecedented growth 100x RRP for a MINT IN BOX (this will also start a new precedent on box condition valuation since the brickheadz boxes are so important for value...non-lego investors will see gold and keep inflating the price until the mouse turns 100. Instantly making this a top 10 mickey collectible going into 2028. Side note: popularity of the collectible boos…

Not directly about LEGO, but it was something that could have had implications down the road. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/30/business/supreme-court-patent-rights-lexmark.html WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday placed sharp limits on how much control patent holders have over how their products are used after they are sold. The case concerned Lexmark International, which makes toner cartridges for use in its printers. The court ruled that the company could not use patent law to stop companies from refilling and selling the cartridges. Mark Lemley, director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science and Technology, said that anyone who refurbished…

I recently got a deal where I bought a complete Jabba's Palace and Rancor set for $50. Sometimes I'm relieved when I get a good deal on loose sets that I want to build. Knowing that I don't have to open a sealed set that might be a good money maker down the road is a great feeling and I'm not sure why.

Just like alcoholism, gambling, smoking, drug abuse and such, do you feel like your LEGO collecting/investing is a problem? Do you lie awake at night needing the fix? Is your LEGO spending causing a strain on you marriage? Do you need to join LEGOholics anonymous 12 step program? Have you ever called up your credit card company just to make sure you have enough to purchase LEGO? Do you go to the store with $50, purchase $49 in LEGO and then put the last dollar in your gas tank? Will you buy sets for your KIDS just because you want them and then end up building it FOR THEM? Do you feel others have a LEGO problem but not you? Take a good …

Hey All....First things first, Mods please move this to wherever it should live if I've dropped this in the wrong thread.... So yep, the unthinkable has happened. About 2 weeks ago I discovered that most of my LEGO collection has been stolen. About 30-40 large plastic storage tubs (the ones from Walmart) with roughly 400+ BNIB LEGO sets...stolen, no less, from the padlocked attic of my rental property. Damn, it really sucks writing that. And I'll confess straight up... I should have been a lot more vigilant. We moved from our old house in early 2017 and the last I saw of my collection was when I attached the padlock to the attic and told our rental company that…

Which set do you think will perform better after retirement: Slave I or Tumbler? Many of us know that Slave I was released six months after Tumbler, that it makes more sense to invest in sets that are closer to retirement prior to sets that are farther from retirement, and it wise to diversify one's portfolio, but strictly going off the question of "which set do you think will perform better after retirement" what are your thoughts?

We all like a good knee jerk reaction and as I was looking through ebay sales, I was just thinking how a few of last years retirements had disappointed so far. Really thought Ecto-1 and the White House would be stronger out the gate, but I guess so did everyone else and they must have been seriously hoarded. Looking at Ecto-1 on Bricklink, it's sales are similar enough, if even a little stronger than Wall-e, but there's still 3 times as many Ecto-1's for sale as Wall-E's, which will stunt the growth. Anyone else got any they had much higher expectations of? Just thought of another, Shuttle Tyderium, definitely no At-At or Star Destroyer.

Hopefully this isn't already a topic but was wondering if I could get some general advice for which sets/themes to hold for Holiday markups versus EOL/Retirement. I guess also versus movies coming out as well
