I have one of these that an ex gf got me. Love it! Framed and signed by the artist. I am also knowlegable in anatomy so I really like this. http://freeny.deviantart.com/art/Micro-Schematic-100713071

  2. Sorry if this topic has been discussed before, but I did a search and found nothing about it. So for all ebayers, where do you guys usually buy the shipping boxes to pack the Lego box? I am looking for shipping boxes where the dimension looks something like the ones shipped by Amazon, about 24"L x 17"W x 6"****. I checked Walmart and Target, they only have the cube-shape boxes, they are too tall for just one Lego set. I also checked FedEx office but they are way too expensive. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, First off, I want to say that i just registered on this site today. This site is just amazing and I absolutely love it! Kudos to the owner or owners of this amazing website. I just started investing a couple years ago. I live here in Dallas, TX. I have gotten pretty close to the Lego store and the manager here in our city. We have a very nice working relationship. They do not hesitate to give me any kind of info I need. Anyway, just a couple of days ago, one of the secondary managers told me that Lego will be cracking down on bulk buyers both online and in their stores. They showed me the email they are sending out to people like this.…

I am a huge Star Trek fan! I just think whoever that runs Star Trek, whether it is paramount or someone else, is really missing out for not letting them team up with Lego. Oh my God, can you imagine the possibilities? What amazing sets they could have! The Ships, Deep Space 9, Borg, etc.... It could just go on and on and on, just like Star Wars. I know Star Wars has more of a geek following but I truly think Star Trek could be a BIG hit with Lego. I sure hope I can see this sometime in my lifetime.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-10185-Green-Grocer-Original-BOX-ONLY-NO-Bricks-Increase-Value-of-Ur-Set-/251322638849?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item3a83ff2201 Need i say anymore??? - This will not increase your set by $180 lol. Maybe $50 and to someone who cared about it. But anyone who cared would have kept their box originally, or bought one with a box.

  6. There is a recent thread about what sets you just don't buy. Sort of along those lines, let's say you are not a fan of a specific theme or a set in a theme, is there a magic cutoff discount that will make you buy regardless? For instance, around here, the Hobbit Mirkwood Spiders sets are $10-15. I wasn't really a fan of this set, but I decided to pick up a few at $10 because 66% off seemed like a great deal. Still, I didn't load up on them even though I could have... Another set I'm not really that excited about is the Hobbit Goblin King set, but I have a strong feeling this set will be marked down to 70% off ($30), I'm wondering if I should just pick som…

  7. Was just wondering people's thoughts on whether there is any added value in listing/selling sets in themed group. What do I mean by this? Just say you have all the City Mining sets, ie 4200-4204+poly. Is it better to sell individually or to sell as a complete set? Anyone had any experience with this type of thing?

  8. Seeing how we are well within the year which shall be closing in just a few months, how about a little poll to gauge public opinion on each and every offering for the year of 2013. Notice: All themes listed as well as the questions posed are only for anything released in 2013 with the odd exception of The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey as those sets were released right at the tail end of 2012 at the beginning of December making them more of 2013 sets really. The theme of Creator also covers it's subtheme of Expert, and the two factions in Super Heroes are separate because of the complete diversity each one has. This is a multiple choice poll so you are able to sel…

I was looking for advice on storage of Lego sets. I currently have them wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in 27 gallon totes. I have to many to keep in the house and wanted to get your thoughts about storing them in my garage. I live in Central California so the weather is upper 90's in the summer and the 30's in the winter. Thanks for any input.

Wow. We went to 3 lego stores this morning looking for more crawlers....gone. Every store was sold out and no more coming. That was bittersweet news for obvious reasons. The great news for all of us...you could barely walk in ALL 3 of these stores! I've never seen them thus crowded...not even at Christmas. People were walking out with ewoks and opera houses....I couldn't believe it! Kids were buying chima..and knew all the characters and tribes. Now with walmart, target, and even tru nearly doubling their lego space...this is just starting to take off. They had 3 registers going at burlington...and still lines of people. Never seen this. Best thingI overheard was an eld…

What's the best way, to protect lego sets, being stacked on top of each other? Can I use foam, in-between sets?

hello fellow brickpickers, a moment of your time please. I think I know the answer to this, but would appreciate some opinions from some varied points of view. I have an opportunity to purchase a jabbas's sail barge, jabba's palace, and rancor pit for $240. all three are mint in box, with no tax or shipping charges. currently the palace and rancor pit are available on amazon for $95 and $48, respectively. both with no tax or shipping. $240-$143=$97 for the sail barge. unless I am missing something, there have not been any discounts on the barge (yet), so if I bought one local including tax it would cost me $126.59. that would be a savings of 23% on a sail barge if b…

I am curious how many people display boxes and fully boxed sets. I displayed my box behind my Delorean because it looks really good. I would think the crawler would be a good one to display as well. What does everyone else do?

  16. As the title asks, what LEGO theme have you invested in the most? Let's define "most" as theme you have the most sets of. Here's my personal breakdown: Star Wars - 30 Harry Potter - 10 CM - 7 Lord of the Rings - 5 Hero Factory - 4 Chima - 2 Lone Ranger - 2 City - 2 I'm sure that most of you have larger collections, but let's hear it! You can figure this out by going to your Brickfolio, then to the second pie chart.

I have been considering selling my Greedo minifigure from set 4501. His value after fees will probably be around 20 bucks on a good day. I will most likely never let or put this figure into play for it's value and I consider selling it in favor of getting more sets that will be enjoyed on a greater scale. A person can get a lot of nice sets for 20.00 at MSRP or on sale even. Anyone else ever have similar thoughts.

If you've been to any Disney parks you know what these are. I'm just wondering if any one else collects these? since this is a collecting site. I have 132 of them and got lucky and have the most expensive one, park #1 chaser, it sells for around $500.

If not what is your pick for '2013 Set of the Year' for investing purposes. There is competition from other sets released this year: Tower of Orthanc, Ewok Villiage, Delorean, etc...but 5yrs from now, which set will you predict to be Top Dog in terms of ROI (cash or %)?

  20. What do you think, if anything, could ever top 10179 in price? I think whatever it was it would have to have an extremely large amount of pieces. Maybe if they did an insanely large modular of something of that nature? Anyone think anything could?

  21. For example, with Wal-Mart clearing out most of their LOTR and Hobbit stuff, is this the end of it on the shelves at Wal-Mart, or do they bring back the sets at the Christmas season? It seemed to me like some the LOTR/Star Wars sets were discounted heavily after Christmas 2012, and then the same sets appeared back on the shelf in early spring, and are again being discounted now. How/Why does this method work as a retailer?

Let me first say that this is by no means a knock on this site. I enjoy this site and it provides a lot of great features you can't get anywhere else. The sad news for me though is that the way the site has been taking off over the past year has actually had a big impact on me buying less sets for investment purposes. There are so many posts from people who are amassing substantial quantities of sets I would have easily invested in in the past. Now I know some people are just talk and don't really have what they say, but there are plenty who really do have what they claim. Not only are the huge collections concerning, but the vast amount of sets spread 1-5 at a time …

  23. I have always enjoyed Lego, though I have just started collecting various sets (mostly Star Wars) within the last year. I have kept myself mostly to the original trilogy sets and I have stuck with the vehicles (just because there are so many). I also have just joined this site within the last few weeks as I am getting into investing. Mostly going to be small scale for right now. I have seen posts in the forums about people talking about Lego wanting to do away with the secondary market and the "Golden Age" of Lego investing and selling being over. This is bad news for investors but as long as Lego retires sets, and people want those retired sets, there will alwa…

When I started investing, I was able to get, 10%, maybe a little more off of sets (most were retired just still on shelf). Then I moved my way to 20-25% off with a few 50% off sets mixed in. Over the past month or so I have been finding 50-75% off sets easily. Does this make you hesitant to jump at 25% off sets? I keep looking at deals on Amazon now and actually thinking that they aren't as great.
