Interesting article from the Alistair Barr of the USA Today. The future of LEGO set procurement is shifting more and more to online sales. The IPads of the world are making it easier to buy(and sell) LEGO sets. The article also mentions LEGO sets as "hot toys" and mentions eBay as the place to buy sets that cannot be found at primary retailers. Overall, a positive for LEGO investing in my opinion... BrickFanatics has released the results for their Lucky #7 LEGO Set Award: The Set of the Year. This year, 4 sets were in nominated by the 5 judges, therefore two votes for one set. That set was... 10232 PALACE CINEMA!!!!! Congratulations to the 3 other sets that were nominated: 70709 Galactic Titan 41999 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition 70010 The Lion CHI Temple It appears that modular-like buildings are the amongst the most popular LEGO products, last year's winner being the Haunted House. Any other sets you think should have, or could have won the award? I believe that the set has to be released this year (2013). My nomination goes to the 10236 Ew…

What lego sets do you guys recommend buying for a future investment. I only want lego sets that are going to be retiring within today and 5 months from now. These sets can be rather expensive like the modular buildings or over 200 dollars. Thanks

I just sold a $200 item on ebay to a domestic buyer. The buyer has a score of 30, 100% positive feedback. The buyer has already paid but he has requested me to place a packing slip in the box with the item price showing only $40. He said he doesn't want his family members to see it is a $200 item. Personally I have no problem doing that, but do you guys foresee any possibility of scam here?

Hey guys. About a month back I was at my local Walmart getting some yogurt. A quick stroll down the Lego aisle and low and behold a lone Wampa Cave sat on the shelf mixed in with the Rancor pits. I snatched it up and even better still when I price checked it it came up 9.99 So I'm curious guys, where have you been lucky enough to find a retired set and what was your most bad-@$$ find???

Has anyone else had a problem with buying items and using Walmart's In Store Pickup this morning? I just tried to buy some Friends Heartlake Stables and Vet sets, and where the 'add to cart' was last night, it now says "show this number to an associate". I was enjoying some flippin' on these for the online price, but if Walmart has shut this down for the holidays...

So I didn't know this - and maybe it shouldn't have been this way - but my store told me the christmas PAB boxes were given out for every 75$ you spend, not 1 per purchase. I got 4! So now my delimna is - I don't know crap about single bricks. I am totally a set guy. Mine are going to probably be for resale, but for those of you who are experts, what should those of us looking to just offset the costs of what we bought to get them buy? - What colors? Easy to sell? etc. I was thinking about getting the bigger bricks in a weirded color. The way the box is set up, I bet you could fill one pretty well. I am sure EightBrick has a way to get 300 in…

LEGO is running a promotional deal right now if you buy palace cinema you get a free LEGO movie poster sticker (just like the ones in the windows on the set) Anyone think this would be a valuable investment? I suppose it depends partly on whether or not the movie ends up being popular or a complete flop.

Hello, I've been involved in various retail and service industries for over 30 years and was thinking about opening a brick and mortar toy store that involves LEGO in some way. Before I contact the LEGO Toy Dealers program, I would like to know if any of you have had experience trying to open a non-LEGO(franchise) LEGO toy store or if you know of any successful independent toy stores that do well selling LEGO sets. Information on this topic is scarce, so any information could help. Thank you.

In the other thread about the state of large set investing, a few people mentioned taxable status and perks associated there with. I've only recently got to the size where I really need to worry about such things, so I was hoping those in the know could provide some insight. I am not incorporated, last year and just was designated as self employed for the purposes of Lego reselling. (Not counting my other jobs, of course.) I have simply just been paying sales tax on the stuff I buy, and when selling I don't do anything special regarding taxes, Amazon charges it to the customer and that's that. If anyone has the time to go into depth on what I SHOULD do r…

I have bad motor skills, however I still do love LEGO's, and the sets. I mainly like visually looking at LEGO's, and just building basic stuff. I would only keep them for investment purposes, but not to build because it's sorta hard for me. Everyone I know buys sets and uses them, and then when these people get older they sell them. The only problem is that when you open it; value decreases.

If I needed to make as much as possible selling lego by the 21st of June 2014, what would you recommend I invest in? About $500-$750 on starting money.

So in the past two days I have grabbed a couple of nice Ebay deals. Want to get some ideas on what to do with them - flip or hold. 1. Bought sealed 2404 Ninjaco Spinjitzu Dojo for $45. BP value is $75 If I sell there, probably make 10$, maybe a bit more after fees. If I hold - it has grown 35% in the last year, 17% over the last 6 months. So if I hold for the next two years and it stays around 20% CAGR, I am looking at $108ish value, and could make $45 or so. I don't know that it will ever get that high though 2. Bought Destinys Bounty NInjaco 9446 for $105, sealed and mint. Current BP value is $137. Checking Ebay, 7 out of last 10 have gone over $…

Hello! sorry but I have a doubt...Filling the brickfolio, you have to choose between MINT and NEW, but I really don't understand the difference.... If I'm buying a set in a shop or on amazon, ebay, etc. that's never been used and it's sealed how can I classify it?

It was bound to happen... now it's my turn to ask you guys a question! I already have looked through the "what does your collection look like" topic and EB's sorting and storage topic etc., but what I want to know is if any of you store your collection by piece. I'm torn between keeping my sets as sets or putting them into a part collection (for reference Brickset said my collection is about 30K pieces, but there are a bunch of sets I didn't add so it is probably at 50K). Usually I have no more than 10 sets out for display and I've been wanting to do more detailed MOCs so I've been looking into sorting them into parts, but I'm sort of scared it will be a lot harder to bui…

I started Lego investing around late 2010 and since then i've invested a fair chunk of my wages each month into Lego. I have completely maxed out my loft now (which is a decent size) and have a decent amount of sets hiding in cupboards, under beds etc. However now i'm somewhat at a cross roads as i'm sitting on a pretty big gold mine i'd like to think, but very much playing the waiting game of retirements/sets increasing in price and getting the sales. I keep saying to myself that's it for now until i sell x amount of sets. Yet I still find myself buying Lego when it's on discount or if a new set comes out and I really like the look of it, i'll usually buy it. Gene…

I recently got a deal where I bought a complete Jabba's Palace and Rancor set for $50. Sometimes I'm relieved when I get a good deal on loose sets that I want to build. Knowing that I don't have to open a sealed set that might be a good money maker down the road is a great feeling and I'm not sure why.
