Just a quick question about Star Wars UCS sets. So I really have my eye on the Ewok Village but right now I only see it on lego.com. I know I've seen UCS in non-LEGO brick and mortar stores like Walmart, Target, etc. so I guess my question is does LEGO make these sets exclusive to them for a certain amount of time before sending out out to other retail outlets? I'm not in a super hurry to grab a bunch of these but I was hoping that they may be in other big box stores for holiday season 2014 so they might be discounted or I can use coupons for them. Does LEGO do this for others sets as well? Thanks for your help!

Just curious to see your best and worst investments from the percentage standpoint. According to my brickfolio, my best performing set is 6790 with a 753% gain from $2 to $17.06. My worst is 6614 with a -34.46% from $31.89 to $20.09

I have always been surprised at the low prices of some of the old Lego sets. I have negotiated $40 price for Lego Set 50-1 and 911-1 in very good, used condition with original box, tray and plastic tray cover. I am thinking about backing out because there seems like no growth and limited demand on eBay. They seem like historically important sets as the 50 has the old style figures, and 911 has the proto-minifigure. Anyone else collect vintage Lego? Should I pass?

As many of you already know, The LEGO Movie finished #1 in the Box Office this past weekend bringing in 69.1 million dollars. Obviously, it is quite a success, with a sequel already planned. LEGO bricks have always had a very passionate fan base, but now with all the added exposure and popularity, will this affect the LEGO secondary market in a positive or negative way? Will it aid in the formation of a speculative bubble? Will the market become flooded with the dreaded LEGO flippers and resellers? Will The LEGO Movie sets be worth anything? Just a few simple questions to ponder...

I have no idea how people parting sets/pieces do it...10 seconds after reading my notification that I set is sold, my excitement turns to a dull realization, damn...I have to find a box and pack now haha. Guess for people that sell minifigs and parts, it's about volume and you have a routine down. And you have to enjoy what you do or else you could get tired of it real soon. What are some unusual boxes you have used for shipping common sets? Or do have a store/site you purchase your new boxes? Sometimes if I don't have a box available I go to UPS and the lady there would custom cut boxes and wrap it securely for me since most boxes are not the ideal size. I pa…

Before I begin, apologies if this is a rehash of another person's view that has already been posted. A couple of background things as well. I am in Australia, postage to my country is not cheap for items from the US, Europe or Asia. Also, being in Australia, sites such as Amazon do not directly ship to my country, so I am keeping this to being about eBay, which I have experience with. One last thing, any monitory values are $AUS, this is worth 90 cents to the $1US, to keep it simple, I will say it is the same. So I begin.... I have just received a parcel from the United States containing Lego set 40079. I purchased it from eBay, received it in just over a week. …

I'm parting out The Simpson House and I can't find Barts skateboard wheels. Can anyone tell me what bag they are in? Instructions say bag "1". I also checked the other bag "1".

So I have 2 pick a brick promo boxes that are good until end of March to use. I don't part out sets or have a need for extra bricks of any kind as I don't assemble LEGO beyond what is in the instructions of a set. My actually 'spare' parts box of LEGO is very small. I've browsed the bins of the local LEGO store but I have no idea what I should grab from a resale point of view. Any pointers? Any parts I should look for that might be quick and easy resell on eBay?

For space savings sake, I fit as many lego sets into cardboard boxes and write the inventory on the outside, then shelve them. I guess my question is before I box them, is there something I can seal them in to protect them further? Any comments or links to storage articles would be most helpful. Thanks!

Just flew through Nairobi and had several hours to kill there. Was bored as hell so i started browsing the duty free shops. Came across one with Legos and first thing to catch my eye were two Harry Potter purple bus sets...alas when I looked at the price they were 70 bucks each...damn, had to pass. Then saw two whitecap bays...150 bucks each. passed. I guess the people who own the shop feel like they need to mark up sets so much in order to turn a profit. A bunch of old friends sets too but all were in terrible condition. Left very disappointed, thought it was going to be a goldmine for a second when I saw the Harry Potter sets.

I know we've had a bunch of pictures show up in a bunch of different threads, but here's a link to a photostream from the guy taking pictures at the show. Excellent quality of what has been allowed to be photographed so far. Enjoy. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61839591@N08/

Whether you sold one rare set for crazy net profit or flipped +50 of the same set and still counting...which Lego set has been most profitable overall for you? Total net cash accumulated. Not including polybags. I'm only approaching yr 1 in investing so my inventory/transaction history is rather short, so for me it would have to be the Technic Exculsive Crawler (followed by the Hulk Helicarrier Break out which is gaining fast). Seems like a slow day on the forums (and bored at work haha), curious which sets other people cashed/cashing in on...money makers. Lets see if there are surprises...

Does anyone here use their reseller permit to avoid paying sales tax on their LEGO purchases? Obviously not at the LEGO store as you'd be banned immediately I've finally made an actual (read: legal) business of this whole thing and can't find the information I need about this little permit. If I use it, am I obligated to charge sales tax to the people who buy from me? Is there a reason to NOT use it other than being labeled as a reseller?

I noticed an auction up on Ebay for the Minifigure Collectors Series Lego Movie boxes(60ct) and the seller in question has pre-sold 96 of them already, with a shipping estimate of February 20 etc. How is it even possible this seller can get ahold of this many of this item, let along guarantee the buyers they will have one when they aren't for sale on Lego's site yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Movie-Minifigures-Series-12-New-box-case-of-60-Sealed-Packets-Lego-71004-/191046321073?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2c7b3f83b1 If the seller didn't have good feedback I'd almost think they were in the process of a cash grab with $19,000+ pre-orders.

Hi all...thought I posted this the other day but may not have fully posted... Does someone have a spreadsheet that they would be able share that tracks lego purchases, sales, avg purchase price etc etc. ? A template of sorts if you will...I'm sure this would be of great help to many here or might not otherwise be excel inclined

I've just bought a used Tower Bridge 10214. The set was kind of a mess when it arrived (partially dismantled, not organised at all) but I knew the risks! It also stank of smoke so I decided to completely dismantle, sort and wash the pieces to make it my own. I'd really like to check the pieces are all there but I'm about to move overseas and don't have enough time to build it. There are about a million teeny bits (rounding up for emphasis!) and the idea of counting them makes my head hurt. I might weigh it all and compare to a complete set's weight but I also wondered if there was a way I could just check it for rarer pieces being present - just to make sure I…

As most on this site are grown men, myself included, do you ever feel creepy, dirty, almost guilty when you go into a store and buy multiples of the same Lego sets? I haven't been able to convince myself to buy any of the Friends sets in store, as it just doesn't feel right.

I'm pretty new to this investing thing, but I'm curious to know what other people's experiences are. I currently have about 5k invested at this point (not including sets I've already sold) but have made 1k off the sets I've sold, so only consider myself to be 4k in. Is there are a point where you broke even, and if so how long did it take?

Only a few weeks into 2014...anybody think this year will be even better in terms of Lego excitment, news, investments, releases etc. I just started this Lego hobby/investment in 2013 and enjoyed following such topics and discussions about Mr. Gold, Exclusive Crawler, Robin Redbird Cycle, exclusive minifigs at ComicCon, (probably missing some other noteworthy sets/news) etc. etc...I wonder what topics will be headlines in 2014? No crystal ball I'm sure we'll see more 'investors' on our forums and some simply lose interest. As long as the reseller market doesn't 'crash' I think we'll all be happy.

Hi! I opened a new eBay account in November, in order to start selling LEGO. From having my first sale cancelled after I had handed the package over to the courier, by a soccer mom who didn't realize the item shipped from outside the US, to people who write to express their gratitude and say that their son loved the set, but don't leave any feedback. My feedback stands proudly at 0 (ahah!) and the whole experience has been somewhat bittersweet. Now I need some advice from more experienced sellers. I've read the FAQs but I'm not sure which line to take. I sold a 70010 Lion CHI Temple on Saturday afternoon, which I had got for 26

My funds for lego investing have dried up rather quickly this holiday season so ive been brain storming ways to increase my capital for legos. I was thinking that a profitable business approach could be as simple as buying a mint sealed set that has retired, sending it in to be professionally graded and then flip it on ebay. what do you guys think

I'm wondering how long this set is scheduled to be around? Other similar priced items that are on my need list include: Arkham, r2-d2, UCS Xwing, Grand Emporium & Tower of Orthanc. Just wondeirng which ones are expected to be on their way out so I be sure to get them....Or am I just better off saying to hell with that and buy another Haunted House?
