Just need some advice/opinion from you experts. I'm a novice that started 'investing' and flipping sets for last 2-3months, fun hobby as I like to read forums and look for deals. Hours spent on sports/fantasy league stats before has turned into Lego hunting and researching Been successful flipping some small to med sets locally (Toronto area in CAN) - no delivery, just face to face for 10%-25% ROI. As my inventory grows, my question is for larger sets ($100+ CAN prices) like Haunted House, Arkham Asylum, Vampyre Castle or Helms Deep do some of you post it immediately for opportunity of a quick flip/small profit or are you waiting for EOL/retirement before posting and …

  2. I just bought 2 items. One 9466 Monster Hunters: Crazy Scientist for 35.00 and one 9472 for 60.00. My question is should I take back the "Attack on Wheathertop" and grab 2 more Crazy Scientist? I'll be selling everything before Chirstmas of this year (October - November).

So guys, I have made plenty of comments about collecting Star Wars minifigures, and have even gone as far as declaring myself a minifigure case expert..... little egotistical sure.... However, I got my new case in today, and the wife helped me tac it up real quick after we got back from dinner (guess who paid). Here it is. I only have shoved 91 minis in here, as I have recently sold about 30 of them (can't resist a quick flip) but eventually I will collect all 500 and counting. EDIT: Forgot to mention when I ordered it, they did the back in a black for me for free.

  5. Does anybody think lego will surprise us with another big set anytime soon because there haven't been many big sets out in last couple of years for example another huge star wars set would be nice for the people who can never get hold of the old sets.

  6. By the time you pay for packaging, postage etc have you made good profit? What Lego item made you the most profit (you don't have to say how much if you don't wish to)? What do you think are the modern equivalents of Cafe Corner, UCS Millenium Falcon etc?

  7. Question: How much you need to invest to consider yourself serious investor or collector. What do you think?

I was going to post this in the old Passenger Train thread, but since it is about more than one item, I thought it deserved its own thread. First, the passenger trains and train stations I ordered through amazon.co.uk came via UPS. I was charged brokerage + custom fees. I sent a quick email to customer service, and they immediately refunded me my out of pocket costs. As one corner of one box was a little smushed, they gave me 15% off that set as well. I did have to chat with the UPS guy and write a couple emails, but it was still worth it, especially with CAN. retail (and even sale) prices so high. If UPS delivered your order, I'd make sure to get their customer s…

My job sends me across the pond to the UK to work with some companies we purchased a little while back. Its always fun to see how things are done in different countries. Well, luckily this year I got come over during the Olympics and got to see some of the excitement it has brought to the city. I am especially lucky that I was able to come here and finally experience Argos for the first time and grabbed a bunch of Olympic Minifigs for me and Ed. Hopefully I got enough that will allow us to get two full sets or I may have to request to comeback and finish some "work" here

Bennylee just shared something great with us. A small story that started with a sad loss but ended with something that made at least myself smile. And he gave me a great idea. I wonder who has the greatest connection to LEGO past. So how about a little competition to see who are the greatest fans of those little plastic bricks. We are refering to their collection, not investment sets. We are looking for 3 categories: Who owns the oldest complete set. Who owns the oldest set MISB or close to mint. Who owns the oldest set closest to their year of birth. You must have a complete set, manuals included but you are not required to have the box. Photos required if yo…

I travel a lot for work, frequently flying to Vegas on Southwest Airlines (note that you get two free checked bags on Southwest). On a previous trip I did not pick up a Police Station for $50, because I did not have enough space in my suitcase. On this last trip I managed to find a couple 9468 Vampyre Castles on clearance for $69 at Wal-Mart. I purchased them without hesitation, but soon I got to thinking how in the heck will i get these home with the boxes in decent shape? These are too big for my suitcase, so I figured I would look into shipping them home via UPS. It looked like my best option would cost about $18-$22 for shipping, but I would also have to pay for a b…

  13. Hi I have been around for a few years now in the lego world seriously and wondered how people spend their time with Lego. I personally got back into it with the coming of age of my children being interested in lego which fuelled my interest. I was horrified to see sets selling for so much money that i had as a child. We embarked on a 20kg stash from ebay and as they built sets we bought missing pieces from bricklink, then opened a shop to sell our spare parts and the rest is history. With a very succesful Bricklink and Ebay store and a every growing investment section I now need more room!!!! Just wanted general feedback really, i ask all my customers what they are …

Hi everyone. We recently had a passing in the family and whilst sorting out the estate we came across 3 presents still wrapped in a box. We opened them to see what they contained. 3 lego box sets from the late 60's early 70's un opened. They are lego system 120 train set, lego 687 aeroplane and lego system 033 basic set. We are intrigued by the possible value of these items. I know this site gives an approximate cost but where would i be able to get a valuation? Also the 033 basic set seems to be a bit elusive. Any help would be appriciated. Cheers Ben

If I could have only one Lego set, it would be 852293, the Castle Giant Chess Set. I own 36 other sets, but not the one I covet most. I've spent more than it costs. I've built more than it costs. But I haven't sold enough to not feel guilty about dropping 1500 bucks on one set. Once, I asked my wife if I could use 3 grand to buy the best 10179 I could find. She said yes, but only if I sell all my other sets first. Well, that was the plan from the beginning: to buy, build, and sell so I could afford to keep the best. But really, I could have just bought the best from the outset. I could be beaming at my two favorite Lego sets, and I wouldn't be a penny poorer tha…

  16. Ok guys, I have a trip to Hawaii in October that I want to make a bit of extra dough for. If I gave you a budget of $500-600 and you had to make it all back by then where would you put your money? I am not sure if the LotR sets will appreciate that quickly. But hey that's the question. I am leaning toward a bunch of Mines of Morias, but want your opinions.

Hello New member who joined up to get some pricing on my old sets. I have about 19 early 90s sets of Castle/Pirates and am wondering if now is a good time to sell. Am new to Lego investing, and would like to let the sets go and invest in something else. Do you guys think now is the best time to do so considering the popularity of Lego collecting at present? Will their worth just keep increasing with time? Thanks.

  18. Wanted your guys advice on this. Thinking of buying both the BP and QA or just getting the IF. What would be a more solid for investment in the long run? In terms of space 1 is always easier to store than the 2. Input always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys I am trying to find out how to get information on exclusive polybags. I have visited brickset and realize you can find some info under theme by year, but I would like to know how I find out about these exclusive polybags before they hit shelves. Great example is Gandalf polybag, which I believe was an exclusive to Target or Walmart. How would I know if more are to be released and where they are headed? Any ideas?

  20. Certain sets like 75016, 75017, 75021, and 75013 have been keeping closer to the $0.10 per piece standard most people use when judging sets, and others, like 75002 and 75015 actually have more pieces than the standard. Could this be a sign that Lego is lowering its prices slightly?

This will be my first may the fourth 'celebration.' So, what exactly is it? Does the Lego store do any kind of sale or special promotion? If it's just the release of the disappointing x-wing and a lame han solo minifig, i'll probably stay home.

What would be the best way to put the lego sets? I am sure all of us have small sets and big sets, how would you put the sets? Would you stack them vertically or flat on the bigger surface horizontally? If vertically next to each other, would it be ok to put a few sets on top? If you lay flat, how many sets would you stack before it gets too heavy? I am trying to find out from some of your experienced collectors on how you would store your precious sets while protecting the box to the best condition. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Earlier, I saw a post but now I do not know where to find it. There was a statement made by one member. He or she said "hopefully we are not like investors buy from other investors" and that results in increasing price. I do believe there are lego lovers joining the lego market every second. There must be someone who was lego fan when he or she was young and later picks the hobby up again..... But thinking about "investors buy from other investors" just concerns me. I, myself, started investing just three months ago after accidentally finding out why some sets were so expensive and later realizing that was called "retired sets"...and then knowing there was actually an…
