I personally do not watch this show, (I think it's stupid) however Adventure Time is extremely popular with children. I think I would buy the smaller one though, if these were to come out. Any thoughts?

Today I have snapped and with anger feel the need to vent with everyone on here. I buy and sell bulk boxes of lego to fuel my addiction, well I buy in bulk break and sell on bricklink. I am amazed that lego have not won a copyright case over megablocks but at least it is easy to tell the cheap quality and colour of megablocks a mile away. My anger comes with Cobi and Star, these are without doubt a clear rip off of lego even down to the 4 letter word on the studs. Now Cobi can usually be identified by the colours except for the black which is my real beef, and now finding plates which again can catch you ouch with star on them. Now i am fully aware that great grandma who…

Just curious about the diversity of the LEGO sets we all own here that are our own personal collection and that are for investment. (if you only do Minifigures or MOC's include those in our discussion) Including my 4 children (somehow they mixed up my sets with theirs - the little boogers) we personally have to total of approx. 60 sets. Mostly Star Wars, Ninjago and Friends with a mixture of City. Investing wise I rotate from 250 to 300 sealed and loose sets. It depends on what is moving at the time. I have mostly Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, Ninjago, City, Super Heroes, CMF's and Modulars. (with a splatter of a few other themes here and there) By far I …

I just went to the Kidsfest here in Houston. It was a lot of fun, but it's definitely more for kids than AFOLs. Some interesting notes: 1. At the Chima booth they gave free Razar Speedorz. That's a $15 value, not bad! Of course, they had tons of them, so I'm guessing that's the speedor they're having the most trouble selling. 2. At the challenge area they gave tie fighter #8028 polybags ($4 value). 3. The store had the B-wing on sale for $150, hoth for $70, and the y-wing for $35 (each about 25% off I believe). not great, but not bad if you missed the big may 4th sale. 4. The store also gave the iron man polybag AND a legoland Florida ticket for free …

I was taking apart, bagging and storing some Lego sets recently and noticed that most Lego sets only take up HALF the actual space in the original box. Now, I know it's all about retail visibility and placement on the shelves...BUT... Don't you think Lego could: - reduce packaging size of boxes (help reduce paper waste)! Imagine how many millions of sets of Lego make each year. And the paper usage reduced if all boxes were HALVED in size. In doing so, it makes it easier for collectors to store their boxes as well. We can take more boxes on shelves. The boxes, having less air inside will also be less prone to being dished or flattened. Just saying...

I am wondering how long everyone has been investing in Lego. I purchased my first Lego set for investment in March of last year and started selling March of this year. I am particularly interested to see how many people have been doing this for more than 2-3 years. It seems Brickpicker has given many of us (including myself) the idea of investing in Lego sets but I'm curious to see who may have been doing it even before Brickpicker. This is not intended to be another Lego bubble discussion, I'm actually curious to hear from some of the investors who have been doing this for a number of years and get their perspective on changes they have seen over the years.

Hey guys/gals, Just got a Helm's Deep in. Ebay purchase for $104. Well guess who shipped me the item? That's right, TLG. Along with my free splinter keychain.... AND AN INVOICE FOR $129.99. Well I called them immediately and told them that I may have been involved in a drop ship scam. CS rep said nothing has been reported yet so don't worry about it. Which is frustrating because if this is a scam... someone is going to lose. Either TLG will have to eat the cost, or Visa/MC etx will have to eat this. But more importantly they will have to deal with another scam shipment because they're not following up. Anyway... should I just not worry about it? Or is the…

I wanted to let everyone know that I was at Costco today and picked up some of the ziplock storage vac bags on sale. These bags were talked about in a recent storage forum post, and I compared the price to other online sources. It is the 15 bags assorted pack and it was $15 after instant manufacturer rebate. The sale ends June 2. Also I was at wal mart recently and they are doing inventory and an employee told me that today and the next couple days is a good time to look for new clearance items.

Sorry guys, but I have to brag a little bit about today's accidental 1 store find. Last night my wife, kid, and I drove to Arkansas for a 1 night/1 day trip to Crate of Diamonds State Park. We've been before, but our kid hasn't and we wanted to let him run around and look for diamonds. We didn't plan to pick stores between here and there, but we did stop on the way and pick a couple of WalMart's. We had some decent finds on the way, but no specific LEGO home runs. Today we went to the park. We didn't find any diamonds, but we had a good time. On the way back we decided to stop at a random WalMart in the middle of nowhere Arkansas. It had three full rows of cleara…

I feel a lot of people throw around the word flop, yet it can be a very subjective term. What do you consider a flop? Is anything above MSRP great? I left out anything above 100%, because in reality, those can't be considered flops. The goal here is to come to a more sound understanding of what a flop is? Obviously clearances can make even the worst set profitable, but for the sake of discussion, imagine they are irrelevant.

How long would you say on average a set lasts at retail? I'm thinking of an average type set here, for example most medium to large sets. Some, like modulars and , cough... 10188 DS... cough, are around for a long time. But what about standard sets from the past and present (think Tie Fighter, Jabba's Palace, R2-D2, POTC ships, Trains, Diagon Alley, Batcave, Bag End, etc etc). The reason I'm curious as I'm looking at the CAGR of sets and we calculate this from the release date of the set. When in reality we often make purchases nearer EOL, making the growth rate higher. (not to mention discounts off retail, but that's another topic). What say you?

I have been investing most of the legos in various themes with Star Wars being about 30% and the largest in my inventory. Now, With $2000 to invest. Would it be better to invest in modular s (fire brigade, town hall, grand emporium etc.) or other themes as hobbit, more star wars, Super heroes and LOTR or other themes. Just looking for about a year worth to recoup or max 2 years.

I just came out of my dark ages this past December and since then I've been buying up sets left and right. My passion is really in LotR/Hobbit sets which I'm beyond obsessed with. On friday I picked up 4 copies of Uruk Hai Army that were on clearance, initially to help flesh out my army building efforts but then I thought maybe I should hold onto them. For a quick back story I have 1 copy of each LotR/Hobbit set except 2 Helm's Deep, 6 Uruk Hai Army, and 5 Weathertop. All of these sets were bought to build, display, and MOC. I also have 2 Mines of Moria that were bought to invest. Now I have a few other sets (City, Ninjago, MF) that I bought purely to invest and I als…

In the wake af the B-wing discount and a few people having what seems to be buyers remorse, if you could choose one set to discount for 50% what would it be? It can only be current sets, not upcoming or retired sets. I'm curious because there are so many ways people could go with this. Collectors would likely have a much different answer than investors. As an investor, I would love to see the Horizon Express at 50% off. Getting an almost guaranteed EOL winner at 50% off would be great. I bet there will be a lot off SSD responses...and not a bad choice either.

Went to my local Wal-Mart and found a few Helms Deep sets marked down to $89.00; I grabbed the nice ones, but noticed one had the thick two-inch tape around the middle. I checked the seals, they didn't look tampered with at all, and the box didnt seem like it was missing anything, but it was still concerning. Was wondering if it would still be worth picking up at $89?

There is one strange thing going on with my LEGO VIP account. So, yesterday I ordered two B-Wings online without using my available point balance, then went to the actual store and purchase one more, and that put my VIP balance at $ 50. I used those 50 on the same day to get the 10240 X-Wing, but for some reason it took a very long time and several tries to apply the points to the final bill (all in store with a manager). Today I signed in into my LEGO online account and see that my VIP Point balance still says $50 available. I go ahead and add a 10240 to my bag just to see what happens and it goes right ahead and deducts the $ 50 from my final bill (Did not purchase as …
