Any one in the Ottawa area in Ontario Canada might be interested to know there will be a Lego Auction at the and of July. I will supply a link below. A local man passes away his dieing wish is to have his massive lego collection given to children hospital. Unfortunately hospital can't take used toys so it's doing the next best thing they are auctioning off all lego with 100% going to hospital. There are sets from the 90's to 2015. Over 400 mini figures. http://m.ottawasun.com/2015/07/17/lego-labour-of-love-goes-on-sale-to-help-cheo

Investment strategy? When I started the investment/flipping side of things I got a seperate paypal just for Lego. This way all the funds were self contained and if my hobby was paying for itself, I could buy whatever I wanted without the wife freaking out. So...my current strategy is sell $100 worth of sets I probably shouldn't have bought for $200 (or as close as I can) and then buy an exclusive with the proceeds. I must be an addict because every time my paypal balance gets respectable, I buy more lego. I will eventually hit capacity of the closets at the house, but until then....I'm trying to load up the account so I can make the bigger quantity purchases.

A couple of rumors over at Eurobricks have sprung up leading to a few lists of possible sets for the year 2015. I have no idea how accurate they are but the source allegedly has been fairly reliable in the past but as anything, take it with a grain of salt. In any case, this main post shall be used to list all the 2015 sets as they come in. Feel free to use this topic for all related discussion. Just for fun discussions, if all BPers pooled in their inventory and resources and form 1 giant corporation... how much control can we have in the secondary market? Assuming we all continue to source for the deals and grown this corporations. Discuss away what other visions/dreams/ideas you may have if we all become one

So I am in the middle of inventorying and my Brand New Tower Bridge Box is squishy from water damage (purchased from Toys R Us) Do you guys think its okay to sell as new 2 years down the road? (I'm not sure how much water damage does to Legos) If not, is it possible to file a claim of some sort for wet box damage? The shipper was FedEx. Do they normally put plastic bags over your boxes for you cause they never do that for me? Thanks!

Hi, I am new here posting but been around reading forums, buying and reselling for about a year. What do you think of the following ? Based on the simple rule of supply and demand and critical timing, for nearly retired set, I mean the sets that are only available at Lego SH, just before they go poof everywhere. Can we say that those sets which have the highest price ratio from Amazon to retail are the most promising ones to invest in ? So, in that case let's see as an example, PC -> 214/150 = 1.43 PS-> 229/150 = 1.53 TB-> 350/240= 1.46 Then, if what I say here holds water, it seems that one should get more PS than TB or PC. And more TB than PC What do you think?…

I've acquired a Super Star Destroyer 10221 and prepping it for resale. A couple of questions 1. I don't have the box, would spending $40 on a box help it to sell quicker, and would I recoup the $40? 2. How should I package the disassembled pieces (I've accounted for them all). By color. size, in order they appear in the book?

I see some sets going everywhere in price trying to make sense on why? Ive haven't used ebay all that much since 2012-2013~ Ive watched it in 2014 10187 VW Beetle - Ive noticed this set has increased in value I bought mine in christmas of 2013 for $275 USD w/box n instruction Now its selling around $550 has it gone up because of the new car line (VW Camper, Mini Cooper and Coming Ferrari F40)? 10184 This set is very cheap considering what time it was discountinued is it cheap because people forgot about it? when I was in the lego store in 2009 I could only buy one set I debated between 10181 Eiffel Tower, 10185 Green Grocer and 10184 Town Plan thank god I bought the eiffe…

A few weeks back, we posted a survey to help learn more about who the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) is. Today I will be able to share those results with you in a nice illustrated format. Over the five day period, we received 579 replies and collected information from members at Brickpicker as well as help from other LEGO communities including Brickset, BrickFanatics and The Brick Fan. We would really like to thank them for helping to get the word out and collect data from different regions. It is a rather large graphic below and I tried to compress it has much as possible while keeping it looking nice. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you anything surprises you. …

I am still a rookie at this game and so far I've been doing alright with just selling sealed sets. However, when I run some numbers on Bricklinks, it seems parting out some sets can be very lucrative. However, I have to factor in the time it takes to sort out the pieces and the amount of time I will be sitting on bricks and cost of storing these bricks. Does the opportunity cost out weights sitting on some exclusive sets/modulars? So I want to know how long were you in this investing game before you dive into selling parts? How well have you been doing? What tips you got for the newbies in picking the right sets and general advice? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I rcently noticed the new Lego Juniors series on the shelves, Batman, "Defend the Batcave" (10672) and Spiderman, "Spider-Car Pursuit" (10665). They look pretty cool, and although in the "juniors" range, considering the cool mini figures, and the interest in super hero sets at the moment, does anyone have any thoughts on whether these might be a good investment or not? This is my first post, and have only been collecting for a month or so, and haven't even listed my inventory yet. Go easy on me.....Lol Thanks in advance, Sean

Is it wrong to ask the employees when they think a product will retire? Do they generally not like people who invest? Sent from my XT1030 using Brickpicker mobile app

When it comes to investing in BIG sets it is common opinion that NONE of them will ever be a real loser. This is my opinion, too, but there are some popular big sets I think are fairly overrated and will in the end "lose" the race for becoming big investment winners after EOL. I do not intend to p*ss anyone off here, criticising their favorite sets. But as it is a common practice in this forum to tell people to "buy, buy, buy!" I thought it might not be a bad idea to make people think again about buying at least in some cases. In the end, of course, this is also to tell you my opinion on sets I just don't understand why they are being hyped the was they are - and to get t…

Just curious on a Monday morning what other members on BP do after a selling splurge. Do you just buy more sets for investing? Buy yourself or someone new toys/gifts? Pay down debt somewhere? More alcohol, entertainment, drugs lol, Or just pad the bank account for a rainy day or the next good buying opportunity? Combination? Sales have been great for me from Nov-current...been on a hot selling streak with this hobby, guess those sets bought within 2 yrs ago have matured enough for decent profit/demand. Wife is happy the closet is kinda bare now compared to before and I used profits for new TV, tablet, phone, guys Vegas trip...so I have a second wind to start …

Brickpicker is helping to get the word out for LEGO fans to join in on the LEGO Ideas Bracket. Please take a few minutes to go in and make your selections for designs that you would like to see move on to the next round!!! Round One of our 64 project bracket is closed and that means Round Two is open for voting! This is double elimination so any project that looses a comparison will drop to the lower bracket. Projects failing a comparison in the lower bracket are out of contention. When both brackets have been reduced to one project, those top projects will be compared to determine the favorite project of the participating community of voters. I would ask that …

Just like alcoholism, gambling, smoking, drug abuse and such, do you feel like your LEGO collecting/investing is a problem? Do you lie awake at night needing the fix? Is your LEGO spending causing a strain on you marriage? Do you need to join LEGOholics anonymous 12 step program? Have you ever called up your credit card company just to make sure you have enough to purchase LEGO? Do you go to the store with $50, purchase $49 in LEGO and then put the last dollar in your gas tank? Will you buy sets for your KIDS just because you want them and then end up building it FOR THEM? Do you feel others have a LEGO problem but not you? Take a good …

As a fairly new collector/investor...sometimes I have doubts if I should sell my last set or keep it when the set is already EOL. Potentially you could sell for higher margin down the road if you keep it - also the set will never be as cheap (most likely) as when you purchased it on sale before EOL if you want it for personal collection. So the usual scenario is buy +4 multiple of a set on sale(s)...sell them as you go, as stock dwindles you might raise prices. Just curious how many people here just keep that LAST set and delete the listing? Of course set value, personal favourites, budget and space are variables.
