I have several sets that I have constructed and deconstructed because of lack of display space. Some I'll keep, some I'll sell when the time is right. My question to you BPers is: How do you store these sets? In original boxes? In other boxes? Ziploc bags? I also want to keep the original boxes and I'm not sure what to do with them.

Got from sah recently, noticed that seal codes were different, identical on one side and doubled taped on other side with different code. Seals underneath look like they were cut. Has anyone seen this before? Does sah reseal sets that are open box returns?

Sorry if there is already a thread about this, but I'm wondering what is usually the going rate for a used/open set (that is still available in stores)? Is it normally half the price of retail? Most of the info on the BP price guide is for retired stuff I think.

  4. If I were to put together a set using pieces bought in bulk, would it be considered a used set missing box missing instructions? Or is it worthless?

  5. Honored Brickfolk, It breaks my heart to do so but the time has come for me to go completely liquid on my collection. Real life issues make this, one of my favorite hobbies, time and cost prohibitive. As I have never had to sell completely, I have no idea how to do it. I would, of course, like to give my brick brother and sisters first shot, but I would also like to sell the whole thing in one go. A few questions in regards to the brickfolio numbers... 1. Which value should I use when assessing value of my collection? The "Brickfolio Value" or "Current Price" seems high and leaves little left "on the bone" for collectors. The "Purchase …

I've read some blogs and have some very basic Excel spreadsheet experience. But, my spreadsheet looks pretty awful and isn't very user friendly. It would be awesome if someone with a really nice, Lego specific, Excel spreadsheet wanted to share their blank template for those on this site........ I really like the way you can export the brickfolio data to Excel, but I like to customize my spreadsheet and add sales data, which makes importing new data impossible.

My wife mentioned that I try selling some sets on a Facebook swap group that she was a part of. I put up a set like I would on Craigslist and got a ton of interest from people. However, almost all of the offers were lowball offers and nothing ever came from it. Has anyone had any luck dealing with these groups and any tips to make it a better experience? Thanks.

I go to garage and yard sales quite a bit and I have had some amazing finds so I thought I'd tell you all about them. A couple years ago I went to a small yard sale at a ramshackle house and after digging around, I found 2 Huge bags of LEGO. Trying to keeping my heart rate down, I went and bought them for $5. I went home a sorted through them a found 12 road baseplates, a plethora of mid 1990s city sets, and a lot of minifigs. About 10 months ago,I was at a car show and I went over to the ''swap meet'' section, and I spotted a man with a huge bin of random toys. After rooting around for a while, I found a sand green piece, a orange shark windshield, and a lot of other g…

There is a guy near me who has 1000's of polybags for sale. They range from Pirates of the Caribbean to New Star Wars. He even has 13 Admiral Yularen which I'm pretty sure hasn't been released yet. How do you think he came about these? He also has unopened boxes of Lego Movie cmf's. My first thought was it could be stolen merch but he has polys from 2007. What do you guys think? His prices are pretty low. ($5 for VW for instance)

We will be starting a BL Store once we settle into a house again. I will be getting used Bulk Lego (have already started) and was wondering is it worth cleaning each piece or just stick to the ones that are very dirty. I have seen youtube Videos, where lego says they wash them in the washing Machine in pillow cases. Or other using Borax to clean light colored Lego. My plan was to sort by color, then wash them and do final sorting. Is this overkill or good thing to do or have to do. Thanks Mike

I am wondering from the more seasoned collectors and investors what their view of vintage lego is. Firstly, how old does Lego need to be before it is considered to be vintage? Are we referring to sets that are 10, 20 or 30 years old? Secondly, does the set need to have the box? I know of collectors who have kept the box even when the set has been played with but if you have the complete set, does that not constitute the greater portion of the value? I also wonder what your views are on sets that are "almost complete" or "complete with substituted parts". I have seen a number of listings where this is noted however it is better to says so than to mislead the custo…

  13. I shared my Printable LEGO Label collection with many of you in the past, but I wanted to let you know that I just completed a large update which includes many common Technic parts. I got a *lot* of comments and emails indicating that you want more labels, so I hope you enjoy. A sample of the new Technic labels. The labels look great on any organization system. I am new to lego collecting. I see people talk about flipping sets such as the tumbler. How is it that anyone can sell an item for above MSRP? I can buy the tumbler from lego shop for 199 and yet someone out there is willing to pay $250-$300 on eBay? Appreciate the insight.

Just curious...assuming you're gone for 7days, how do med-large scale sellers handle their Lego store on (ebay, amazon, bricklink etc.) while on vacation? Do you post something regarding your absence, change your status, do nothing, advise buyers with a standard/auto reply you're be processing orders asap when you get back...or have another person do it for you? *any stories of missed sales or crazy buyers messing up your vacation time? Or do some people find getting into Lego investing leaves you no time/funds left over for vacations JK.

I've been hoarding Lego sets for a little over a year now, but have only attempted about 10 sales on Ebay or Bricklink. As I start to offer more listings online, I'd like to solicit opinion/advice on selling sets as bundles. Without revealing any of your trade secrets, I'm curious to hear from some of the experienced sellers out here. As an example, let's say I've got 4-5 retired Star Wars sets, do you think its wise to sell these as individuals or as a collection? I would imagine you've got to consider these factors: Affordability for the buyer, top dollar for the seller, shipping and handling issues, buyer demand, listing fees, and volume sales. What a…

Hi All This is an introduction of sorts although I have been posting for a little while now although I am really looking for some feedback as far as my brickfollio goes and potential investing. I started getting back into Lego middle of last year after rediscovering my mid 80's space sets and rebuilding 26 different models thinking my son 3 years would love to start building them in a year or two. I then started reading about investing and just got pulled in. So far my brickfollio consists of: 5 HH 5 TH 3 GE 1 EEE 6 AA 14 R2D2 1 Tower Bridge 2 Tumblers 10 RI 1 Technics F1 1 City high speed passenger train 5 Delorians Think that's about it,…

  24. Let's play a little philosophical investing game tonight - which would you rather? Here are the guidelines: - You can only choose one or the other. - Assume that you could have picked up either of these within the last month at RRP. - I will give you no other information than what you see below, BUT - you are free to use all your resources to make a decision (Brickpicker, eBay, Amazon, etc). I encourage you to make a strong, rational argument with the information that you have at your disposal today. Which would you rather: 9 Sets of Mixels Series 1 or 1 SSD 10221? - 9 Sets of Mixels Series cost $405 ($5 per Mixels times 9 Mixels in a set x 9…
