  1. Started by jaylay,

Didn’t find a thread on this but for those who display UCS sets, what’s your displays like? Anyone use IKEA Detolf cases? Anyone modified them to fit the UCS sets? Thanks in advance.

  2. Started by Jamie Sky,

Hey hey. New to the site so this is my first post. I have 1 of only 3 made Lego Batman Sky Broadband Tech Team sets. As there is only 3 in existence, is this the sort of thing that is worth anything? Cheers folks ?

Hi what is the value of instruction books and bricks to go with. Some have damage.

  4. Hey everyone, So I am in the process of sorting massive amounts of legos and a lot of the rubber tires I am coming across feel very oily and slimy. I've felt this before in other rubber portions of toys and I know it is common (though I don't fully understand the chemical reaction that occurs). Anyways, wondering if any one has come across this and if these tires are salvageable? Is there anything I can wash / soak them in to rid this? Or are they pretty much done for? Thanks for any help!

  5. A little background on the source of the question: I have "ran my business" for about 1.5 years. Prior to that it was mostly a hobby to help pay for college. I was buying more than selling, using my salary to build up a nice stash. Last year I decided to get serious. Registered a business, switched everything to business accounts etc. I started "selling like crazy" and went from my normal sub 20K sales to my first six figure sales year. This year I'm on track to grow another 400-500%. Great....?! At this point I don't know if I'm doing well or as well as i could be... (I'm not searching for affirmation). I still have my 40 hour career. I try to find time to prepa…

  6. We all like a good knee jerk reaction and as I was looking through ebay sales, I was just thinking how a few of last years retirements had disappointed so far. Really thought Ecto-1 and the White House would be stronger out the gate, but I guess so did everyone else and they must have been seriously hoarded. Looking at Ecto-1 on Bricklink, it's sales are similar enough, if even a little stronger than Wall-e, but there's still 3 times as many Ecto-1's for sale as Wall-E's, which will stunt the growth. Anyone else got any they had much higher expectations of? Just thought of another, Shuttle Tyderium, definitely no At-At or Star Destroyer.

  7. I have been an assistant manager for Walmart for the past 2 1/2 years, I have overseen several areas of the store including toys. Before I came to Walmart I spent 3.5 years selling on eBay to support my family (not exclusively Lego). Since working at Walmart I use Amazon FBA as my method of selling. Due to financial constraints my Lego experience is only of the quick flip variety (problematic to some of you, I know). I would be more than happy to try to answer any questions or clear up any confusion you may have regarding Walmart and how it affects our lives as investors and collectors. I can only answer based on my experience and I certainly am not speaking for the …

    Started by Guest,

The writing is on the wall, I decided to get out now while market prices are still (marginally) profitable. Feels good, and the free’d space in the house is a plus. From here forward all LEGO sets will be those we actually want to build.

  10. So 2017 has given us new and improved SW UCS Milf and Snowspeeder, a massive Ninjago Cty, a rocket, the biggest ever modular and Minecraft sets, a London Bus, Fishing Store and that POTC ship that seemed to be love or hate, amongst other sets. We even got a big Nexi castle. It´s been a weak year for Technic and Architecture fans, though. Is this the strongest year so far for 1000 part and above sets or can you remember a better one NOT FROM AN INVESTMENT STANDPONT but rather as a fan of Lego? If you can, please say which and why stood out for you.

  11. Hi all, after the next remade UCS set (Falcon) we have already 4 remade UCS sets and I am pretty sure it will be not the last one. How do you want to handle your UCS collection in the future? Give an answer and a small explanation regarding your choice. Mauro

  12. Started by Val-E,

So, for 2017 we have the following exclusive sets confirmed: Janary: 10255 Creator Assembly Square March (TBC): 71042 Pirates of the Caribbean Ship May (TBC) 75144 UCS Snowspeeder In the rumour mill are: UCS Millennium Falcon and UCS ISD, like every year! Fairground set Another large Technic / Speed Champions car but I think it is too soon after the Porsche. some type of plane / train /ship is expected in the creator range after 2 years without. A large SH set should also be in the pipeline, maybe from Batman Lego movie but that already has AA 3.0 Maybe a Ninjago Movie one too.

  15. Started by WCH,

I have roughly $100 equivalent in LEGO VIP points through the legostore. I sold most of my lego on the secondary market already and just trying to cash everything out. I was wondering what is the best set for more to just buy right now and resell immediately? I am fine with buying a set now and holding for 1-2 years down the road or just waiting until a really attractive set comes out to use the money. Either way, let me know the best course of action.

  16. As an American, all of the recent discussions of the Brexit vote have really been intriguing. With the votes being tabulated as I write this, what do non-US LEGO investors/resellers think of the situation and its effects on the various LEGO secondary markets? PS: I usually don't want to get too involved in politics, but this has definite effects on all of us. Please be respectful of others and their opinions. Thanks...

I am sure more than one of you will be foaming at the mouth afer watching this video. It´s a 30 minute exploration of Lego´s own archive library of most MISB sets ever produced.

  19. Hi all, first of all I am really a completionist. This means that I like to have either the whole theme or no sets from a theme. But as anyone knows the exception proves the rule, therefore I have Temple of Arjitsu as unique set from Ninjago or could also live with the fact to have ships from the Pirates of the Carribean only. But in both cases I am not a big fan of the theme/movie itself. Now I am thinking about selling Lord of the Rings/Hobbit or Harry Potter sets - I have all of them in sealed condition. My problem here is that I like the movies from both themes, although for me the Lord of the Rings was more epic than Harry Potter. Hobbit in opposite is…

I'm taking my son to Brickworld this weekend in Chicago. It's our first time. For you veterans out there - what is the best way to get tickets? I'd rather get in quickly than save $2 with Groupon. So what's the best way to obtain tickets (online or at the door) and get through admissions line quickly? Do tickets ever sell out? Thanks everyone!

Hello, Apologies if this is elsewhere, but I was curious how people sort and store mini figures. Both for your personal collections and also when you have them up and listed for sale. Do you bag each one individually and place those bags in plastic bins? That seems to be the most practical solution. Most of the jewelry boxes with dividers don't seem to fit mini figures in bags too well though. Any photos would be helpful too! Love hearing each person's strategies that work for them! Thanks!

  22. Apologies if this was linked elsewhere (I didn't see it) - But a good, somewhat long, read about the LEGO Corporate turnaround - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/jun/04/how-lego-clicked-the-super-brand-that-reinvented-itself "Lego’s revival has been called the greatest turnaround in corporate history. A book devoted to the subject, David Robertson’s Brick by Brick: How Lego Rewrote the Rules of Innovation, has become a set business text. Sony, Adidas and Boeing are said to refer to it. Google now uses Lego bricks to help its employees innovate."

So, this is the first leak to come out about 2017, courtesy CM4sci. My immediate thoughts are that it´s time to sell those remaining Guggenheims. It also points to big SOH being retired if there is a Sydney cityscape. The Technic BMW motorbike also sounds interesting and there is confirmation of a new City Police station as per the 3 year rule. 24. Not directly about LEGO, but it was something that could have had implications down the road. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/30/business/supreme-court-patent-rights-lexmark.html WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday placed sharp limits on how much control patent holders have over how their products are used after they are sold. The case concerned Lexmark International, which makes toner cartridges for use in its printers. The court ruled that the company could not use patent law to stop companies from refilling and selling the cartridges. Mark Lemley, director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science and Technology, said that anyone who refurbished…

  25. I'm flying to Warsaw this Sunday for couple of days so if there is any interest among BrickPickers I can get couple of boxes to my check in luggage or I can buy bulk and dispatch with courier to London, which will be much easier for later distribution within mainland or western EU. I don't know how much of these are available right now in Store but I can estimate now in about 10-15 boxes. I'm coming back to London by 2nd of June. RPP for this set in warsaw lego store is eq of 25GBP If you are interested drop the line here or PM me. If You are from US, Australia or any other country and you are eager to pay shipping costs from UK - be my guest. https://brickset.c…
