Creator

Discussion for collecting and investing with Creator themed sets.

  1. Started by TheOrcKing,

This topic is mainly for talking about the whole Creator line including the houses to the smaller models. It can range from what you would like to see as a future set, an idea about an alternate design, a model built using a certain choice of colors, etcetera. Here is a quick link listing the entire theme. Any discussion about design ideas and predictions about the modular builds can be directed here.

Seeing as we got a new Ferris wheel and that the Creator Head loves carnivals..... I wanted to get a Grand Carousel but the thought that a new one may be possible makes me think I should wait.

  3. Started by TheOrcKing,

With the current number of official LEGO designs (including one created by a fan for the short lived Factory line), numerous MOC's available on eBay, various amounts of ideas on CUUSOO, unique creations across Flickr, and detailed builds on MOCpages, makes me wonder what modular house design would you like to see LEGO come up with next? Here is a quick list of what has already been done. Cafe Corner (2007) Market Street (2007) Green Grocer (2008) Fire Brigade (2009) Grand Emporium (2010) Pet Shop (2011) Town Hall (2012) Palace Cinema (2013) Parisian Restaurant (2014) Detective's Office (2015) Brick Bank (2016) Assembly Square (2017) I …

I do not know how long this competition has been running for but there seems to be different challenges held every month. Here is the webpage. This month is "Build your dreamhouse".

I have the opportunity to purchase a used but complete and nice 10155 with instructions and no box.admittedly, I know very little about these Maersk ships but I know that this one is retired and that the EEE might eat into the resale value of this one. I will be purchasing at $90. What can I expect future resale value to do? Has it pretty much settled at this point or might it gonup further once the EEE goes? Hold, sell now?

I scored this set for $550 from a local seller in my area. Manuals, Box, all pieces. I thought it was a good deal and its one of the very few sets I really kick myself for not buying at regular prices several years ago. Well I started building it.... 6 Hours later and I was addicted. This set is unbelievable! I am currently on Book 3. It's massive and probably one of the more difficult builds due to it being fragile as you go up and inward. This will become one of my favorites and will look great next to my 3450 Statue of Liberty. It is definitely inspiring me to keep my Taj Mahal, crack it open and start building it, something I have been hesitant to do because of it…

I see the 10182 Cafe Corner has leveled off, maybe even dropped a little in value. Is this the end of the extreme appreciation? Or will we see this set hit $2000 eventually?

  8. Started by BuckeyeFanDan,

Does anyone know the total number of sealed bags that should be in the 10185 Green Grocer set? I am looking at one that has a mangled, open box, but sealed bags and am trying to confirm that they are all there. Also, since the box is in bad shape but the bags are sealed, what kind of value does that typically mean? I am trying to determine a fair price to offer for it. It would be for my own collection, not for investing. Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Hi what is a good price to pay for New in box Beetle..probably open box but new...is this set going to appreciate more in future?

  10. Started by stackables,

That seems to be what they are going for so at that price I wouldn't. I would only invest in the real expensive sets if I got a good deal on one. Just my opinion.

I wasn't sure where to put this so feel free to move it if needed. I'm wondering people opinions here on this set. After finding a cheap CC I'm thinking of acquiring all of the "Modular" sets for eventually down the road building a city something like Wakko. Maybe not as big though. There is a MS on CL for $600. I've sent an email asking for more details. The ad is probably from one of you guys anyway.... http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/tag/5444224009.html

I have a chance to buy a Grand Carousel (10196) for $500. It's still factory sealed, but the box has some slight damage. Should I go for it?

  13. Started by Spartikis,

Ok so anyone have thoughts as to when the fire brigade will be retired? got to be soon, i mean there has never been 4 modular buildings for sale at the same time before. i want to buy up a bunch but i worry that because its been on the market soooo long it might be over sold, similar to the death star. Also feel free to post comments about other modular buildings, theres quite a few to talk about.

  14. Started by rcdb1984,

We all know this should be on everyones list. It's a corner piece, very elaborate, and most importantly been out since march 2010. We all know how the fire brigade is doing. How many does everyone have? Are you buying any up soon?

  15. I know there has been a lot of speculation lately about 10211 possibly being retired after it has shown up sold out on LEGO Shop at Home and some other sites. For what it's worth I was just on the phone with LEGO Shop at Home ordering some train tracks and I asked the Lego sales associate if they were getting in more GE's and he told me that yes they would be getting in another shipment before the holidays (he did not know exact date) and it was not getting retired anytime soon to his knowledge. I also asked about the FB and he said that it was also not going to be retired anytime soon and would still be available for 2013. It seems that after the first 3 Modulars CC, MS,…

Do you think that this set will follow Eiffel Tower and Taj Mahal and become really, really expensive in 2-3 years time? Also, do you think that Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower will be increasing their value even more?

Never mind it does not seem to show up in the Australian store only

ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND INVESTORS: On June 1, 2012, LEGO will be releasing a new version of the SOPWITH CAMEL. The older version, set 3451, did extremely well in the secondary market, increasing almost 200% from MSRP. This set looks much more complicated and accurate. Watch the LEGO 'DESIGN' video. Nice detail. A must have for any investor or collector, so save your pennies for June 1st! Here is the LEGO Press Release: BILLUND, Denmark
