I just read an article in the Washington Post about PLEY, formally Pleygo. It would appear that they have received some venture capital to increase their capacity and develop a warehouse on the East coast. Could this hinder the LEGO secondary market in any way? On a side note related to the article...That must be some special scale and weighing algorithm that can differentiate between LEGO bricks and colors. LOL. I can see these sets being returned with candy wrappers mixed in.

I am furious right now.... Kmart and Walmart legos tampered with in the Philadelphia suburban area. We are getting ready to move into a new home so I am trying to get my collection a bit more organized in boxes to move to the new house. As i started boxing things up i started to pay attention to some of the sets especially that i got on clearance in the past few months. Kmart: 2 Goblin Kings 1 Attack at Weathertop Both looked like the seals were all in tact but I noticed that there was no play in the box top the tab was holding. pulled a little harder and sure enough I could see glue! All three freaking boxes. Opened them all up and all figs gon…

There has been a lot of questions lately,"I'm looking at X set for X dollars, should I buy it?" Let me preface this by saying, I'm dumb and use to be dumber (I've been a member and buying & selling since Jan 13) I can see both sides. Guys want advise and others think you should put in more research. Most members are helpful and patient to a point. Jim Cramer says, you can make money investing in company stocks if your willing to devote the time and research. If not buy a mutual fund. There is no such thing as a Professional Lego investment advisor ( some guys may be close). Read this site, watch EBay, visit all the stores, and you can answer yours and other peoples qu…

So, for 2017 we have the following exclusive sets confirmed: Janary: 10255 Creator Assembly Square March (TBC): 71042 Pirates of the Caribbean Ship May (TBC) 75144 UCS Snowspeeder In the rumour mill are: UCS Millennium Falcon and UCS ISD, like every year! Fairground set Another large Technic / Speed Champions car but I think it is too soon after the Porsche. some type of plane / train /ship is expected in the creator range after 2 years without. A large SH set should also be in the pipeline, maybe from Batman Lego movie but that already has AA 3.0 Maybe a Ninjago Movie one too.

Hi everyone, So I am by no means a large seller, only Ebay and BrickLink, but with my current numbers this year I am thinking I will break 20k in PayPal for the first time and therefore get a 1099 from PayPal. This leads me to some questions about how that is calculated and about charging tax that I am hoping some Veteran's can help me with! 1) When PayPal tallies up this gross 20k and decides if you get a 1099 or not, are they tallying totals with or without their fee? Also same question with that automated eBay tax that is charged. I see PayPal's fee & Ebay's automated tax immediately deducted on each transaction so I assume what is left of gross inco…

I was wondering how you guys all display your sets and minifigures. Do you use Acrylic Cases for the musuem quality dust free look. Most importantly what do you think of these cases. Link I am thinking about doing something similar and wondering where I can find these cases for purchase. Hopefully some of you super deal hunters know of a good site.I think they are about the size you would use for a deck of cards but without the outside clasps almost an AFA look. Please Help. THANKS

I just finished scanning my morning Twitter feeds and came across this Wall Street Journal tweet about an article by Clemens Bonsdorf... The popularity of "The Lego Movie" may be coming at just the right time for the Danish toymaker, as the company is expected to report an abrupt slowdown in its U.S. business in 2013 after several years of heady gains. Closely held Lego will publish its 2013 financial performance Thursday, after the company issued a press release saying, "Our U.S. sales growth last year was more moderate than the... I do not have a WSJ membership, so if any of you do and want to fill us in, it would be greatly appreciated. Very curious deve…

Like the title says if you could only have one set for your personal collection what set would that be? To make it fun let's also put in what one set would you hold for investment? My choice for personal would be the Emerald Night steam Locomotive. Its my favorite set fun build, great detail, ILOVESTEAMTRAINS, awesome play, Super display piece. My Investment choice is a hard one but I have a hunch about the Haunted House so that's my one choice.

Just been in Smyths and they have all the June releases out a few days early and across the board I was looking at these sets going, God they're overpriced. A few examples and by no mean the only ones: Volcano Heavy Lifter Helicopter €130 Vader's Tie Advanced vs A-Wing €110 Resistance X- Wing €95 - €10 more than Poe's X-Wing for whatever reason Batman: Scarecrow Harvest of Fear €75 Spiderman Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle €120 Fun in the Park €45 Smyths generally have the same RRP as Lego, so no TRU gouging to start with. I couldn't believe the prices on most of these having only seen the dollar prices in advance, which of …

I just started collecting/investing and do not have a lot of knowledge about Lego yet. I have bought Lego mainly from private parties(persons). I see that some sets do not have the 'transparent tape' around them. Should all lego sets have them or is it not for all sets. For example not for the smaller, or cheaper, or older ones. The sets that do not have the 'transparent tape' look like they have never been opened, but I am not sure if this is true. Could someone give me some kind of guideline, or a website where I can find which (if any) sets should not have the 'transparent tape' (I am guessing the transparent tape is the same as 'the seals'?)? And is the…

Let me first say that this is by no means a knock on this site. I enjoy this site and it provides a lot of great features you can't get anywhere else. The sad news for me though is that the way the site has been taking off over the past year has actually had a big impact on me buying less sets for investment purposes. There are so many posts from people who are amassing substantial quantities of sets I would have easily invested in in the past. Now I know some people are just talk and don't really have what they say, but there are plenty who really do have what they claim. Not only are the huge collections concerning, but the vast amount of sets spread 1-5 at a time …

Today I went to my parents house and got all of my old Legos. I had the foresight to organize very well before I stopped collecting. These sets are all from the late 80s and early 90s. Most of them are complete with instructions and boxes. There are also a bunch of old Lego Magazines in an envelope. I will be doing inventory, and some building as time permits. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

I have been an assistant manager for Walmart for the past 2 1/2 years, I have overseen several areas of the store including toys. Before I came to Walmart I spent 3.5 years selling on eBay to support my family (not exclusively Lego). Since working at Walmart I use Amazon FBA as my method of selling. Due to financial constraints my Lego experience is only of the quick flip variety (problematic to some of you, I know). I would be more than happy to try to answer any questions or clear up any confusion you may have regarding Walmart and how it affects our lives as investors and collectors. I can only answer based on my experience and I certainly am not speaking for the …

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before, but I did a search and found nothing about it. So for all ebayers, where do you guys usually buy the shipping boxes to pack the Lego box? I am looking for shipping boxes where the dimension looks something like the ones shipped by Amazon, about 24"L x 17"W x 6"****. I checked Walmart and Target, they only have the cube-shape boxes, they are too tall for just one Lego set. I also checked FedEx office but they are way too expensive. Any suggestions?

Well, I thought on found a good deal on the 10179 set from craigslist. The person was selling the set for $800. Thought this was a reasonable price. Not really a crazy price. Still a real good deal though. Anyway, the catch was the person could only accept money pak order. You buy the card, put money on it and upload it to a debit card. Of course I thought this was sketchy. So I asked her why she doesn't have paypal. Her response was her late husband screwed up their paypal account and couldn't get a new one. I told her I still do not feel safe and she said that she would give me her debit card number to show that she wouldn't rip me off. I basically talked h…

As we are nearing the end of the year and before crazy selling season begins, I thought it might be neat to compile rumours and speculation we have heard about the 2016 Exclusives. Over the past 8 years or so, there have been around 8 mid to large exclusives released each year. These are the semi confirmed sets: 1) 75098 Hoth Battle UCS 250 euros DATE TBC 2) 42056 IP Technic 40th anniversary car 300 euros Summer 16 3) 75827 Ghostbusters HQ JAN 16 4) 10251 Brick Bank 160 euros JAN 16 5) Landmark "Big Ben" DATE TBC We can also expect a couple more large Star Wars sets. People have been talking about an ISD, a Snowspeeder, maybe a new DS and why not a BB8? It´s also been a w…

As the title asks, what LEGO theme have you invested in the most? Let's define "most" as theme you have the most sets of. Here's my personal breakdown: Star Wars - 30 Harry Potter - 10 CM - 7 Lord of the Rings - 5 Hero Factory - 4 Chima - 2 Lone Ranger - 2 City - 2 I'm sure that most of you have larger collections, but let's hear it! You can figure this out by going to your Brickfolio, then to the second pie chart.

My girlfriend and I picked up the Paris Architecture set from the Lego store in Danbury this afternoon. Upon opening it, (seals intact) the numbered bags were already opened. We looked at it even further, and realized some of the pieces were already assembled - it looks like someone built it and took it apart to return. Anyone else have this issue? How did you rectify? Surprised it came from an official LEGO store.

I go to garage and yard sales quite a bit and I have had some amazing finds so I thought I'd tell you all about them. A couple years ago I went to a small yard sale at a ramshackle house and after digging around, I found 2 Huge bags of LEGO. Trying to keeping my heart rate down, I went and bought them for $5. I went home a sorted through them a found 12 road baseplates, a plethora of mid 1990s city sets, and a lot of minifigs. About 10 months ago,I was at a car show and I went over to the ''swap meet'' section, and I spotted a man with a huge bin of random toys. After rooting around for a while, I found a sand green piece, a orange shark windshield, and a lot of other g…

Eurobricks posted a link to the newest German LEGO brand catalogue: January-June http://cache.lego.com/Flash/Portal/OnlineCatalog/de-de/Version13/pageflipdata/pdf/lego_januar-juli.pdf July-December http://cache.lego.com/Flash/Portal/OnlineCatalog/de-de/Version16/pageflipdata/pdf/lego_juli-dezember.pdf Nothing really ground breaking in it, but fun to look at. It's also in German, but I don't look at these for the articles.
