Discuss great LEGO deals or selling tactics on eBay

  1. I haven't seen this discussed yet: http://announcements.ebay.com/2014/10/good-news-for-top-rated-sellers-extended-holiday-returns-no-longer-required-for-top-rated-plus-benefits-but-will-earn-you-a-bonus-5-discount/?_trksid=p3984.m2301.l3955 Basically, eBay has modified its seasonal policy to no longer require extended returns for TRS this season. However, if you do offer extended returns you save an additional 5% on your FVF

I just dipped below the 90% top rated level for shipping out within 24 hours and am now in grace period before I lose top rated benefits. My mistake? I had a buyer buy an item from me, ask about adding another of my items to combine shipping, and proceed to add 2 other items after that. She wanted it all shipped together to save on shipping. This was done in the space of 4 days and I got the shipment out immediately after she was done buying stuff. Now even though I have a paper trail of this conversation, shipping times are apparently not something ebay customer service can adjust or remove. Because it was past the 24 hour shipping window (even though it was what t…

Hello - I need some help from folks that are experienced with receiving the 1099k from Paypal. This will be my first year that I receive one. I have been able to keep track of my income/expenses before through the applications on eBay (they tell you selling income, selling fee, shipping charge). My concern with the 1099k is that I have heard different things about what PayPal counts as gross income/payments received. When I look at my Financial Statement online from Paypal it lists many different categories. Does anyone have experience with which of those categories are used to generate the income number that is reported on the 1099k? Specifically, I am looki…

Hi all, I recently sold a lego set For $50. The buyer bought the item and even paid for it plus the shipping. Then 2 hours later i received a message saying can you cancel the order I bought the wrong model i thought it was something else. My add clearly has pictures name of set and model number. In your guys opinion and past experiences would you fully refund the order? If so do most people charge a cancellation fee? Or do i just refund it straight up and re post. The add had lots of watchers and now there all gone which kind of pisses me off. Thanks

So I see all the posts that set X or set Y is still not worth MSRP years later, but I never see them for sale. Are the investors just sitting on them? Waiting to go up? Don't want to cut losses? Example is the prince of Persia, I kind of want to pick up a few of the sets like the ostrich race just to have the birds and some of them are kinda cool, but no where on eBay are a decent deal

  6. I just wanted to point out that I had a great experience with Star City Bricks recently on a Town Hall purchase. He was fair with the Best Offer bid and shipped quickly and properly, in a quality box and packaging. He goes by the name of Kshine on the site. Check out his eBay store...Thanks.

I have seen people in stores using an app to check how items sell on ebay. I downloaded one for my phone called EValuator. I tried it today. I put Lego then set number in search. The set was 49.99 retail. Avg median sale price came up 12.95! I know this had to include minifigs and parts. Question is, what App is best for this? Or how to set this one so it only give NEW set prices, not figs etc? thannks

  8. I am not going to go through all the drop-ship scam details, etc. and talk about it. Drop-shipping itself is not a scam. Either way, here is some proof of how this affects everyone. Diablos, I, and some others have pointed quite a few listings out. Here are what I see as the most commonly drop-ship scammed sets: 10228 - Haunted House (mostly because it sells over retail on Ebay) 10225 - R2D2 - we have seen some extremely blatantly low listings 10221 - SSD - its expensive! 10188 - Similar to the above. I watch all of these sets like a hawk on Ebay and for the last month and a half, the number of probable scam listings has jumped significantly. 2-3 a…

I had 11 auctions end last Sunday night. One buyer won three off them. I invoiced him with combined shipping discount. He just left feedback for all three listings but it only adds one positive to my account, is that because of combined shipping or am I missing something else?

I sold a set yesterday and I am trying to print a shipping label from Ebay as I have always done it, and it is saying it is not available. This time I set a fix amount for shipping instead of adding measurements and weight to my listing, is it because of it that I can not use the Ebay print shipping labels service????

Yeah, so I may have the worst. Couple of weeks ago, as usual, an error upon relisting products on Ebay (Ebay sometimes adds one to my inventory of items for some reason.) caused me to sell an item I didn't have. Knowing tons of people from Brickpicker, I simply had one of my colleagues drop ship it. Ebay decides - You know what, this new address should be his default (Even though I have done this 10-15 times and never had the problem). YEAH... so now 4 items worth in the realm of 300$ are going to someone who bought a $25 item from me. Merry Christmas I guess. Everyone is allowed moments like this, just wish they wouldn't cost me money.

  13. Hi so i bought this to my kid at ebay. He used a stock photo for this listing but i decided to bid anyway because listing stated that there's no damage on the box, fantastic condition. And it arrived i already noticed looks bad because they used a smaller usps box to pack it notice some bulging (pic1). Used to many newspaper as a packing material inside (pic2) which cause to squeeze the set inside. Pic 3-4 showing its damage done to the box. Note that this is for opening so box condition is not my priority, but the way that item is not properly pack and ship kinda disappointed me. I already notified the seller bout this. Any comment tips suggestions guys? Thanks

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I noticed over the weekend that USPS will now pick up First Class packages without needing a Priority Mail package to be picked up as well. This seemingly minor tweak to their policy will save me from having to drop first class packages at the PO. Check out the website - the "Ground" designation below the line (and the line itself) is now gone, and the "First Class Package" designation now sits between all the other package types. I requested pick up on three packages yesterday, and pick up was confirmed. https://tools.usps.com/go/ScheduleAPickupAction!input.action

  15. Here's the scenario... I have multiples of 1 item for sale and don't feel like making multiple listings so I use the quantity field. I setup shipping to be actual cost based on dimensions and services. When a user buys more than 1, they are getting a "shipping discount" even though I have discounts turned OFF. It was a Mars Rover... to ship one was approx $11. Shipping two came out to $13.50 and eBay had the nerve to print "You gave an $8.50 shipping discount" on the order... and I'm thinking, hell no I didn't. I don't use flat rate because it never handles that scenario properly either. How do you guys set that up? I think I'll be OK for this one, but if some…

Hey all, I had ordered some shipping boxes from uspssupplies.ebay.com a month ago but haven't received them yet. Since the whole thing is free, I knew it would take some time but I am holding off on selling a bunch of small items till they arrive and am starting to get antsy. Have other people used this service and if so how long did it take for your materials to arrive? Unfortunately the "Order History" section does not indicate if the items have been shipped or not. Thanks Mods: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where to put it

Need some advice. Sold a small dollar item total with shipping about $9. The buyer initiated a return with the reason that the item was not as described meaning that I have to pay shipping back, refund full amount including shipping, and get a defect counted against me. The reason he gave was completely wrong. I sent him a message and told him his reason was bogus (politely). He replied back and said I was right and he made a mistake. He still wants to return the item but for me I really don't want it back. I'm more concerned with the defect being counted against me. I just want to refund him and be done with it. I don't want the item back. Can he close the return case or…

I have a huge LEGO collection which includes completed instructions for dozens of sets, many of which are worth a lot, but I just cant be bothered to sort through all that. Does an enormous LEGO unsorted LEGO collection with tons of instructions for whats included have any value on, say, eBay? Any input would be very helpful.

  21. Just got my 2 lego marvel games from Walmart and removed the iron patriot poly. I was wondering if I should list the game as new or used? The game and poly come in a small box that is sealed in plastic. You need to open the box to get the fig out and there is no further plastic around the game. I plan on just selling the game and not the outer box to save on shipping. So would the game be considered new or used?
