Discuss great LEGO deals or selling tactics on eBay

  1. Started by anolian,

Hi all I am new to this forum and new to Lego investing. I have recently had good success selling used Lego sets from my childhood on eBay. I am wanting now to start investing in new sets and selling them as well. I have been posting them on on eBay so they expire on Sunday between 9-11 pm est time. Is this an ideal time to end auction's? Or is there a better time to have Lego auctions end? Thanks

I'm looking to pick up the Series 4 Star Wars Planets to complete my collection, but as they weren't released everywhere, I'm finding the majority of eBay listings for it are coming out of Asia I'm wary of spending my hard earned cash on fakes, but the listings are stating that they are official releases from Lego Korea Anyone had any experience in this either good or bad? 3. Maybe you guys can give me advice on the following: I sold a polybag last week on ebay. I mailed it with normal mail in a normal envelope. I have done this before and everything went just fine. Yesterday I got an email from ebay that the buyer stated he did not receive anything yet. I agreed with the buyer to wait until Wednesday to see if it will arrive anyways. I believe I do not have many options. But maybe you can surprise me with some. Thanks in advance.

I sold two lego sets the other week on Ebay, one with BIN and one with Auction. The two buyers still didn't pay. This is really annoying. How many times does that happen to you? Just to see if this is occurring alot.

I am trying to add some listings, I do not have an eBay store and I the listing is blocked by eBay saying I have exceeded the max of $6,800. Not sure how they get that number as the max. I know most likely I have to call to ask for an increase just wondering if there is anything else I need to know?

Am I missing something, or is this going to be good for sellers? I didn't see anything that made me concerned. Or was I not looking hard enough? Paging Mrs Frog...

I bought an item recently that was damaged in shipping due to poor packaging by the seller. I opened a case and the seller says that if I send it back to him he may potentially be able to get me a replacement, otherwise he will refund me. My question is whether it is safe to accept the replacement, given the unusual situation of "maybe replacement, otherwise refund". As far as I know the options provided by eBay are keeping the item for a partial refund and returning the item for a full refund. I want to make sure that sending a replacement would be covered by the buyer protection system, ie he is required to send a replacement within X days of receiving the original item…

  8. I am located in the USA. I get a lot of buyers from Australia, as well the British Isles and other international destinations. Have you all noticed any differences in themes or type of lego preferred by Ebay buyers in certain continents? I remember when I listed a couple 41999 Crawlers, I got messages from all over the world.

  10. The last two weeks I get people from abroad (Israel and this morning Ireland) buying from me on ebay whilst I clearly stated to only sell Germany domestic. I also have the option of selling internationally turned off. I never had this before and now suddenly two cases. The buyer from Israel did not react or pay anymore. Now I am doubting if the buyer from Ireland is serious. Anyone having experience with this? How do you deal with this? I am willing to sell to the Irish buyer. But the shipping costs will be higher then. Thanks in advance.

With the change in eBay's policy a few months ago, free buy it now listings disappeared for Lego. Does anyone think they will change there policy again anytime soon? Being that it is already a slow season, I barely list anything anymore, and definitely don't list anything under a buy it now option, for simple fear that it won't sell. I know it is only 30 cents, but it cuts at margins if you want to list a bunch of items, and aren't sure if they will sell or not. Has anyone received any promotions including free buy it now listings that included toys? Mine all seem to be auction only now.

  12. So if anyone has listened (I don't blame you if you don't), you might know I have mentioned I have quite a big problem with USPS now and in my past en devours with the company. Well them and Ebay are finally getting together to really take it to me with this defect rating. So I sort of need some advice from people. The major issue: When the new defect rating goes into effect, if I lose top rated status for the first time, will I get the time to get back within the stated areas like I would if I normally lost it? Since the rating came out, I have been hovering just over 1%. I certainly make a mistake every once in a while - get packages switched, etc - b…

  13. Is it possible to open a second ebay-account on my wife's name? Or is it linked to your home address? Could be a way for me to have more space to sell. Thanks in advance.

  14. So I had a buyer contact me saying the item he purchased is getting sent back to me because he moved. I sent the item to his confirmed PayPal address so the error is on his part. He is asking that once I receive it, that I send it to his new address. How do I do this without getting burned? It seems like I wouldn't be protected if I ship it to a non confirmed PayPal address. Is there a way for me to request that he pay the 2nd shipping charge? If he pays a 2nd shipping charge with a correct confirmed PayPal address, will I be covered for the full amount if he would try to open an item not received case? Any suggestions on how to do deal with this would be…

A seller and I arranged a price outside of ebay for an item. The item already has a couple of bids. We still plan on going through ebay and I was wondering the best way to end the auction with the agreed upon price? Would the best way for him to just put a "best offer" option? Can he still do that with bids? Any other options?

I bought 2 of the $100 Toys R Us gift cards for $85 each on Ebay last month. The tracking shows they have been delivered but I have not received either of them. I contacted Toys R Us Ebay Marketplace customer service and they have no record of me ever placing the order. I have been charged for the items and have numerous emails recording the order placement, confirmation, tracking, etc. I have opened a case on Ebay, but I was wondering if this has happened or is happening to anyone else.

  17. Hello everyone. I just signed up for ebay bucks since it was mentioned by another member here and I had no idea what it was. I have bought and sold on ebay for years (not Lego) and had no idea this promotion existed. I never noticed a green "bucks" icon next to the "Bill Me Later" icon that is above the shipping info on the auction pages. It seemed like it popped up on auctions once I signed up. Is it me and has this happened to anyone else? Have I just been blind and not noticed it before? How old is this promotion? I didn't see a topic like this under the ebay Marketplace postings so I do apologize if this topic has already been covered.

have any of you guys come across someone copying your listing details and policy. what did you do?

I've noticed a lot of New Sets being sold out of Vietnam. These sets seem to get sold at auction for a decently cheaper price, these sets mainly being the bigger ones. I saw a 10234 Sydney Opera House sell for 250$ Free Shipping. This of course seems like a too good to be true kind of thing. Has anyone actually purchased one of these and got the product? I guess with eBay the worst thing that could happen is that you never get it, but are able to get your money back through eBay buyer protection.

I'm parting out sets on ebay (minifigs, sets w/o figs); when I list items, should I be using the product catalog for details? The catalog usually refers to the retail version, so I'm already omitting stock photos and the product description to avoid customer confusion. I'm also tired of the "price trending at" that has nothing to do with an individual minifig's price. Is there a reason (Best Match or otherwise) to use the catalog, or is it even appropriate on a parted out set? Other parter-outers - what do you do when you list your items on Ebay?

  22. For a couple of months now I have been selling my merchandise on ebay. It is going not so bad but lately it is very quiet. Currently I am selling in Germany only. Maybe now the time has come to expand. So I am thinking about offering my merchandise to the entire EU. Can anyone give me advice on this? What should I watch out for. Pro's and Con's. Etc. Thanks in advance.

  23. I am sure others of you have done this that have sold longer than me. Ebay called me to set up an appointment with a "highly trained Ebay Sales expert" that would help me and tell me abotu my listings, how they could be better, how I could continue as a seller in the best regards and yada yada yada. So I thought - well why not? I knew I would probably not get anyone who was going to help me with anything, but it was worth a shot. I had some pretty direct questions about some of the new changes, etc. and wouldn't mind hearing anyone's suggestions about my listings. Ebay has no shame. Though they propped this up as helping me sell to my best abilities,…

  24. Just a warning to people: As of now, everyone knows about the Ebay breach. A sad thing that unfortunately comes out of this is all the "Script kiddies" who jump on the back of big data breaches like this to prey on people's fears and make a buck (a script kiddie is basically someone who considers themselves a hacker, but sort of does basic things to piggyback onto others exploits, or can only take advantage of an easy situation) SO, watch for Ebay email alerts, and especially Paypal ones. People will make fake emails (email is insanely easy to spoof and manipulate) saying "Warning your account has been breached!" or something of that nature, with a link…

This may be old news, but I just received this e-mail from eBay. Sounds like for those of us without a store, no more free fixed price listings. I guess this is another reason to move towards big sets, I can see this really hurting people who part out. "Our research shows that in many popular categories
