Discuss great LEGO deals or selling tactics on eBay

  1. A couple months ago, I sold a Lego 75054. However, before I could ship it, the buyer went to their credit card company to claim that it was used fraudulently. They also opened a case with Paypal. I told Paypal as part of resolving the case through their website that I didn't ship the item and I thought it should be a simple case where they could just refund the buyer with the funds that I had received. Instead, it dragged out for more than a month and in the end, the Paypal case was closed with the funds being released to my account...for an item I never shipped!! I tried looking around online for someone else in a similar situation but no luck there. I have h…

  2. In an effort to combat amazon they will give you a better search position if you offer free no questions asked returns. If you offer free returns, there will be no recouping that money via a restocking fee. Buyer finds the same set for cheaper a couple days later... return the expensive one at the sellers expense. A good search position now will require free 1 day shipping with at least 30 day free returns without a restocking fee. It won't hurt most of the big guys, but each return will certainly dig into the small time sellers ability to compete.

Please can anyone help me. Ebay have suspended my account as they said my feedback wasn’t up to scratch!! This was totally unfair as it was at 99.8% – not sure what they thought was wrong. They then suspended my account and said I could not longer sell.So I opened another account using this guide: https://www.slideshare.net/AuctionEssistance/ebay-incognitostealth and that was ok until yesterday when they said the two accounts were linked and shut that one down to!How can I open another account or get them to let me use my original account again? Please help!

So this month was the first time I spent enough to qualify for some ebay bucks. Anyway, they expire the 2nd so I ended up using them. My ebay order details shows the bucks taken off the total but when I go to paypal, the full amount is charged. Is this normal? Do I get credited later? Any help would be appreciated.

Curiosity question.....I have been searching ebay for the past few months trying to find modulars (specifically a town hall) I have noticed a few things that I am curious about. How are individuals selling current modulars at 30-40 dollars below retail? I have been following one seller and they list a modular (like detectives office) at auction....been selling around 125-135 and offering free shipping on top. Am I missing a modular sell somewhere? How can they be making money on selling this way (legally of course)? Just thought I would ask......MODS please move if not an appropriate forum.

I've never seen this before, but I'm assuming this means the person is possibly upping their own product? Why would you ever use this type of bidding?

Hi all, My company, Incisive Health, is currently auctioning one of our lego ambulances for charity (St John Ambulance). We are a communications consultancy and our ambulances (originally a christmas present for our clients) have proved to be a hit in the lego community as well as amongst health policy watchers. We are frequently contacted by collectors from round the world wanting to buy a set. Now they have their chance. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Incisive-Health-LEGO-ambulance-charity-auction-/172507323282?hash=item282a3cdb92:g:eQUAAOSwImRYjwR5 Many thanks and good luck bidding! It's for a good cause. Jan

  10. I just found this set on ebay for 45% off and free shipping. Probably worth picking up a few of them if you can. They are being sold through Toys R Us http://www.ebay.com/itm/172379849067

I just found out that if you win by sniping an auction you do not get ebay bucks. I have been using goofbid and since it is UK based, ebay views bids coming from that country. Is there any sniping sites that I can use to get ebay bucks?

  12. On eBay's home page last week there was a link to a "game" or giveaway for ebay gift cards. Once you signed in to it, you were given points based on sales made as well as purchases made and at different levels of points you would be granted eBay gift cards. I received 2 gift cards and know that I hit the third level to receive the next gift card but I can't find the webpage again. Does anyone have a link to the page? It seem like a number of us could benefit from it. I remember that it runs until December 31st, so it should still be out there somewhere and automatically counts sales and purchases since it started.

Hi, I was thinking if drop ship is legal on eBay. For example, some buyer on eBay brought a LEGO from my store, and I order from Target and ship to the buyer within 1 business day and upload the tracking number. Did I violate any rule/policy on eBay? I know it's not the best practice, but what I asking is is it legal to do it.

  14. Ok, I received a strange ebay winning bid for a large value item (over $500) for the following address: USF smokelone[change]7866 SW Nimbus AveSte 767270Beaverton, OR 97008 What shipping service should I use to ensure protection that this is not a scam. I have a phone number that I could call to verify. When I google this address, it just shows up as a corner in a business area. Should I address it to the name on the paypal payment or use the provided Ebay address that doesn't have a actual name but appears to be a business name?

I need some good advice from anyone on here for eBay. I am not new to selling on eBay, I've been a member since 1997, and I've sold many things including mint in box Lego, but one thing that I have not sold on eBay is loose but complete Lego sets. I've always been afraid of a buyer filing a complaint of missing pieces even though there isn't any. But this time I want to try selling a loose complete set. What advice could you give me to prevent a buyer from trying to get money back? If anyone is interested it's the Star Wars Lego set 75021, the Gunship. Thanks!

Hi, so I made my first eBay sale. Unfortunately the buyer thought it was free shipping, but it was listed for local pickup. Would that be a hit to my account if I cancel the order on my end or should I ask the buyer to request to cancel the order from his end? As I'm just starting out here, id like to make sure I do things right. NOTE: the buyer already paid for the item (I assume PayPal will auto release the funds back to him once the order is cancelled?). Thanks in advance for imparting your eBay wisdom...

Hi, I am sure this question has been asked before in here i just can't seem to find it. I used to sell on ebay frequently I would sell on ebay.ca and use usd as listing currency. I see you can no longer do that. So how do Canadian sellers take advantage of the much larger american consumer base. Do I post my item on the ebay.com? If i do that I can get the correct shipping info and need to do flat right shipping. Or do I use ebay.ca and post in cad? If i do that will my listing in ebay.ca still be view able on the ebay.com website. From your experience does posting on ebay.ca using cad currency scare away american consumers. Thanks

  19. Hi and sorry in advance if this has already been answered somewhere, but I can't find anything specifically addressing this. I buy legos for investment purposes sporadically over time and plan on selling them several years later. I am not a business. I want to start unloading some now. Do I have to collect sales tax? Most articles I read talk about businesses. And from an income tax perspective, business report the sale of legos as inventory I believe instead of as a collectibles capital gain, which I will be doing since I am not a business. Anyone know of any links that specifically address the sale of legos and collecting sales tax if not a business?

I won a couple auctions from one seller and he/she said he would combine shipping. I sent a message requesting for an invoice of the total for the 3 auctions with the one shipping charge. He just sent me an email stating my total for all 3. Doesn't the seller have to actually send me an invoice with the total for all 3 auctions and shipping?

I have just put up my first ebay listing, and it is a lego set. I must say I find ebay selling very confusing. It looks like my item has only got a Buy it Now option but I wish to Auction the set. Can anyone help? Ebay took me through about 3 different pages and setups when setting up the sale.

  25. There's a current ebay promo where they offer no listing or final value fees if you sell on platforms other than your home one, so I can post on the US, German, French etc. sites. How do people do this if the platform isn't in your native language, for example meine Deutsche is nicht so gut, so would German buyers (who generally have better English than most anyway) be offended if listings are in English, or would it not be an issue?
