General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. I have a fairly large amount of lego from when my kids were younger and am looking to sell it. I do not have any of the original l boxes ,weve gathered up the parts for several kits and bar a few missing peices they are almost complete. Really im just looking for the best way to sell it. Am i likely to be able to sell an almost complete set or will people only buy a completed one.Or am i better selling it in bulk by color and weight and if so were would be the best place. Thank you

  2. I’m stressed out- and I know so may of you are too- so to cope, I’ve been on the hunt for a few sets that have eluded me over the years. Great Deals specifically, money is TIGHT 🙃(Now is the time for people in $ pickles to dump collections you know) I collect SW, Architecture, HP, Creator, Ideas... typical collector themes. I also love and collect (old & new) Bionicle and Ninjago. I can’t keep up with every new Ninjago set, so I generally stick to the dragon, mech, and large building sets. Recently I purchased the just released Ninjago Legacy City Gardens 71741, and realized that I never bought the Ninjago Movie City Docks 70657. I do have the Ninjago Movie…

Okay, I have LEGO going back into the 1960's (yes, acetyl acetate stuff) all the way to the early 2000's or so. Old bricks are in varying condition but the newer stuff is mostly solid. Ranges from old basic set parts - classic Pirates, Castle, Adventurers (pre-Indy), Ninja, Star Wars, Legorado, some later Space stuff (had old blue and gray Space parts, long gone). While most of the instructions are still there, very few boxes survive, just a couple. I have no need for this anymore, and no room to keep it and could use the money more than the LEGO. I would prefer it to go to a good home. I'm in the Houston Texas area - if anyone's interested please let …

Curious how in-store stocks are holding up since it seems that many online sources are drying up -- good for resellers and any of us LLQF's LEGO SAH makes it easy to breakdown by price and what's in stock (once you eliminate the items that are not buildable sets -- i.e. STEM kits, EV3 modules, etc... that still show in the list even though you specify "Sets" in the filter). Here's their status (US market) as I measured: Price Range, Sets Available, As a Percent >$100: 18, 23% $75 to $100: 13, 19% $50 to $75: 17, 26% $25 to $50: 27% (stopped screening buildable sets, and just divided available into avail+sold out+backordered) <…

Hello, I am new to investing in Lego and I had maybe a little dumb question about mini figures in blind bags. It makes total sense to open each little bag to sell the mini figure inside but are there cases where buyers would actually prefer to buy the sealed bag? If that would be the case, I figure this would be only a minority of potential buyers? Thanks in advance for your recommendations

Printing a shipping label tonight for an eBay order, and the address looks fine, but the name it is going to is: "New Identity". Anyone seen that before? I messaged the buyer--and hoping to get a response tonight, but thought I'd ask here in case anyone else has seen something similar. Thanks!

I have a UCS Falcon 75192 new in the box for trade. I am looking for any buildings in the creator modular series. I value the Falcon at $800.

  9. Any suggestions appreciated.... purchased 20+ sets form them in July....arrived 2 Months later TRASHED. Sent them photos before I even opened the box to show how damaged it was, then photos of the individually trashed sets...like ripped boxes smashed in areas. They wouldnt even work with me until I went to post office three times and finally got someone to fill out a damaged item form as they wouldnt take my word or the photo history. Finally after getting the form (was told only someone witnessing the actual damage could fill it out but they did it anyway.) Sent Steinchenwelt the form and was told I now had to sit and wait until the got an insurance claim from DHL a…

  10. I received an email from a person via my BL store. Person wanted a shipping quote on one set. I gave the quote. Then they came back and said apparently my store states I won't ship to North Carolina, they copied and pasted a note that the person was getting message "Seller does not support orders shipping to North Carolina." I checked my settings, and didn't see anything that would reflect that, and I'd just made other sales within the US. So we agreed to pay outside the website store (via Paypal invoice) and then I'd ship the order. And again the person stated that my store states that I don't ship to any US state. {Note: I haven't received any orders over the w…

  11. Hi all, first time poster and new to this forum so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place... I've recently pulled down a bunch of my LEGO sets from childhood as I've got a young child myself now, and thinking about selling some of the bigger sets which I understand are worth quite a bit of money now. I've got a Skulls Eye Schooner (complete) and an Imperial Trading Post (6277-1), which is MOSTLY complete with the exception of one minifigure - the Imperial Guard Admiral (Admiral Woodhouse). I understand this is a rare part, so any advice on how this would effect resale value? One qualifying factor is that I DO have a Governor Broadside minifigure from th…

I recently used FedEx to ship a large package. The process of dropping it off is a story in itself. In short, sneaking past a gate, going into 2 buildings where no one was working and then walking all over to find someone was quite the experience. With that said, when will I get charged for the package? I did not know when you print online it is supposedly an estimation? How do I even find out how much the total shipping will be? I do not even see any record of me printing the label in my FedEx account. The package has been picked and is on the way to the customer.

Has anyone had any luck doing a return with Zavvi? My order of of a single 31109 arrived in a thin cardboard box that had seen better days. The set is severely crushed along an entire side and front. One of the seals is ripped open. I decided I'd rather just return it. At first Zavvi wanted to offer me 20% off to keep it, but I declined. Then they sent me a return slipped that marked it as being returned as "unwanted" instead of the "damaged on arrival" option clearly on the slip. Unwanted meant the item had to come back in "like new" condition. After working with them to correct the form, I went to return and noticed the return address is in the UK. I'm in…

Does anyone have any good suggestions on where to look at for good lego set bargains (in europe)? Apart from Ebay and Amazon, I mean. Everyone on Ebay is well informed and good bargains are very rare in my opinion.

  15. I can't seem to buy lego on SAH with my paypal balance... Does anyone know why/how I can? Just trying to set my lego buying and selling apart from our personal checking account...so as to minimize discussions about my "habit" without opening another bank account.

Selling large Lego collection, located at Morningside Heights near Columbia University. Many old sets (some sealed), but mostly sealed large and small sets retired within the last 5 years. Many rare promotional sets as well. ~90% of the collection is brand new sealed. Please see the attached file for a complete list of sets. Entire collection valued at ~$27k at MSRP and ~$38k at current market value. Want to clear space so intended for buyers who are willing to purchase a large portion of the collection (especially the large sets), and I will sell even with good discounts off MSRP. Also willing to sell at 30%+ discount off MSRP for buyers taking large amounts of smal…

Hi all, I wanted to ask you something. My father is going to move in with his girlfriend and found an old lego set of mine when I was a child, presumably from late '90s. My father thinks it is worth something, but I honestly have no idea. I put it online for sale, but I have honestly no idea what it's worth. My apologies if this in the wrong forum, if it is a stupid question, and I'm also sorry for my bad English. Thank you in advance! Kind Regards, Lily

Found a used bulk lot for sale locally, that I am interested in but the price is kinda steep. In the bottom right corner of one of the tubs in their post I see what looks like a black ship hull. The only set I know of with this black hull piece is the Black Pearl set. If this bulk lot potentially contains a Black Pearl then it is definitely worth it. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any other sets this piece could possibly be from first before buying.

  20. Corona boredom is setting in and I thought I’d post some current sold eBay prices. Here is a range of sold prices on numerous sets. I will continue to add to this list over time. I'm starting with big sets, as I find them the most fun! (US ONLY) Recent Sold Prices eBay*** ***All prices are trending towards the higher amounts. I tried to leave off outliers large and small. LARGE SETS: Ninjago City 70620 – $300 - $500 – 19 available. Ninjago City Docks 70657 – $309 – $339 – 10 available. Jokers Manor 70922 – $450 - $500 - - 9 available. Silent Mary 71042 – $229 - $…

  21. Does anyone bother to remove the clearance stickers on your sets intended for resale? I was checking on eBay today to gauge values (Chima, specifically), and it doesn't appear that having the clearance stickers makes much difference in resale value. I've been removing them, and in one or two cases it actually damaged the box, so now I am debating on just leaving them alone. Thoughts?

So in another thread, there is a discussion on clearance stickers. How about removing "vintage" price stickers. I recently purchased a huge lot. Including 4 Black Seas Barracudas, 3 with boxes. 2 Skulls Eye Schooners with boxes. 3 Caribbean Clippers (2 with boxes). probably 30-40 classic city and 13 classic space set with boxes. All the boxes have Toys R Us and ShopKo stickers. Do you remove them? I think it adds character to these old sets. I think it's cool seeing that TRU sold the Black Sea's Barracuda for $89.99. But is that similar to seller as seeing a clearance sticker?

I have a few Amzn returned sets that are partially opened which I want to unload on eBay as used sets. There may be 1 or 2 bags that were opened but most of the bags are still sealed. Some of the sets are missing a few little pieces like 1x4 flats, parts of the base that nobody can see once the build is completed. I can easily replace them with pieces of different colors. But I do not feel like placing a bunch of Bricklink orders to replace something that is not visible at the end. How much of these should be disclosed in my eBay listing? Do I need to list all of the small pieces I replace with different color ? In your experience, are the used set buyers so an…

What are your personal experiences selling EMPTY Lego boxes locally and/or eBay? How do you ship EMPTY boxes? Flattened? Sandwiched? Unflattened and boxed? How do you list and charge for shipping? BIN? Bid? Thank you for your time. 😎

So in 2011 I started hoarding Lego... not bulk sets, but I had an obsession with buying one of each. This year I realized how much I had been spending and had to cut it off and start cleaning it out. I had no idea how much the stuff was going to rise in value and I started with the most valuable sets and cleared out my 50 per month on eBay without having to pay any listing fees. I got tired of being that chick who had two full rooms in her house loaded with bags of Lego sets. I've never hoarded anything else, but for some reason I started buying Lego sets. I was able to go cold turkey thankfully starting January 1, 2017, and just want to clear them out. So now I sit …
