Just trying to start a discussion on how you became an Investor? Were you once a collector that is now wanting to supplement your collection by making some money on selling your extras? Do you sell your extras to buy more LEGO? What made you get started in the Investing world? Do you buy and hold? Do you buy to flip quick?

I was in the Lego club when I was growing up, receiving Lego Mania magazines time to time in the mail. I still have the magazines from the early to late 90s. My favorite part of the magazine was seeing other Lego members showing their creations. Has anyone else been in the Lego club while growing up? If so, what was your favorite part of the magazine? Are you in the Lego club as an adult?

A Large part of my investing comes from polybags. I have found that these small sets will turn larger profits around holidays, people use them as stocking stuffers and put them in Easter baskets. You can also get minifigs and specialty pieces cheap, far below the secondary market. Heres a few I have picked up recently if anyone is interested. - WINZARS PACK PATROL - TC-14 - GANDALF AT GALDUIR - FRODO'S COOKING CORNER - SPACE INSECTOID [30231] - GHOST W. CLOCK [X2] - ZOMBIE COFFIN CAR - MINING QUAD Let me know what you think of polybags in the comments!

Here is the most recent LEGO Press Release on the 2012 year end financials and statistics. The original link can be found here. Overall, the data was excellent news for The LEGO Group(TLG), LEGO fans of all ages and LEGO investors in particular. TLG has shown strong growth for an eighth straight year and has shown tremendous growth globally, expanding an already large fan base. What I found most interesting from an investor and collector's standpoint was that the TOP 4 themes in sales were(in order): 1. CITY 2. STAR WARS 3. NINJAGO 4. FRIENDS I know all about the strength of NINJAGO and FRIENDS themes, and the CITY theme is always a winner with the kids, but STAR…

This is the first time I've sold a set that I have purchased multiple times at different prices, so I'm wondering if I should calculate the average cost or opt for a method like First In First Out. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I recently joined this wonderful little site and finally have a question I thought it would be worth asking the forum: How important is the condition of the box when it comes to the long-term value of an unopened Lego set? I ask because I recently ordered the Lego Haunted House (10228-1) from Amazon, and when it arrived, the box was more beat up than I was expecting. (Mild to medium creasing/bending in several spots, plus a severe crease on one of the side flaps, which also happens to be taped shut. By the way, is that last bit normal? Can't remember any Lego boxes I've purchased at the store being taped, but maybe that's typical for these huge sets.) Anyway, should I …

Hi, I know nothing about Lego but I have a wooden box with two malomite boards that slide in to make the lid. The box was purchased in Germany originally and has the words "System Lego Bausteine im Spiel" printed on the sides. Is this worth anything? Any information or help would be great. Thanks, Michelle.

What is the going rate for bulk LEGO bricks? If I were to offer someone $3/lb would that be an insult? Is there any money to be made in re-selling these? Thanks!

Published in the Wall Street Journal a couple days ago: Lego A/S shook off the malaise affecting the wider toy market and fended off an onslaught of fresh competition in the building-block segment to continue its winning streak in 2012, booking a 25% revenue increase that vaulted it into a near tie for the No. 2 slot in the global toy business. The Danish toy maker enjoyed sustained success for its popular Lego City and Lego Star Wars sets. Its new Lego Friends theme, targeting girls, sold twice as well as initial expectations and helped triple sales to girls. Lego's growth has been attributed in part to more sets aimed at girls. Above, Lego Friends characters at the N…

I just joined Brick Picker and I am really glad I found this site. I have been collecting Lego for a really long time. When I get a new lego set I open it up build and put it on my shelf. I don't really play with lego. I really like lego but I mostly display, not play with it. As I was adding sets to my brickfolio I noticed that if I say that they are used the value on my sets go down. All my Lego sets are in right out of the box condition. Would my sets be considered New or Used?

Being an avid collector and investor, I am currently putting together my Lego room. Right now its just a pretty large closet with a few Lego posters and a bookshelf with my favorite built sets and my large collection of polybags and my Legoland coffee cup and my Bricktober Duplo bricks. I plan on adding a few Modulars and a desk later this year. Tell me about your own Lego rooms or your plans for having one!

Hey to all Brick Pickers out there I purchased an auction lot with Lego Sets 6868 Hulks Helicarrier Breakout , and 9496 The Desert Skiff. Both Boxes where opened when I recieved them and can anyone tell me how many bags / loose pieces should be in each set? The Helicarrier set still has the Hulk Minifigure wrapped in plastic. So Thats a plus, and the Desert Skiff Set looks to have everything.

This may be a silly question. But do TLG ever release official sales numbers for particular sets? For example: In 2012 we sold xxx of 10197 but only yyy of 10230

Looking to find sets like the battle packs that you can sell the minifigs individually for or near the cost of the set. I have done this a few times with the battle packs where I bought it at full retail and sold the mini figures individually, after all the fees I made like 25 cents but I still have the loose pieces that came with it. There has to be larger sets that you can do this. I am helping start a lego club at the library and looking for ways to get loose pieces for low to no cost. Any ideas on sets where this works?

hi all, i am an OLD lego lover (meaning legos were my everything as a kid)... and a new NEWBIE when it comes to lego HOARDING... i was hoping that i could get some insight and education on the whole "lego investing collecting" experience. this past weekend i went to toys r us and bought 2 lego star wars Y wing fighter sets...priced at $45.99 each... but after BOGO discount (buy 1 get 1 50% off) each set came out to be about $34.45. is this a "tuck it into the closet and forget about it" type of thing? or are there specific lego sets that are meant to be collected and packed away for 10 years... please help...

I know everyone talk about uline. But the shipping cost is really high for me. And I'm not sure I want 75 boxes for now. I'll probably start selling really slowly this year. Anyone have other options to buy smaller quantity of boxes? (Ideally from people in Canada/Quebec). Most of the place I've checked locally sell moving cubic boxes. And I tried to reuse the box, but only LEGO Shop at Home/B&****** seem to have decent boxes

Someone posted a link to the USA Today article on the LEGO sub-reddit on reddit.com. http://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/15menn/usa_today_wrote_a_great_story_on_lego_as_an/ There really hasn't been much love for this site on there in the past, but I noticed we were getting a good amount of traffic from there today and wanted to see what was going on. I noticed a comment that I have seen on this site before and a few other forums. "This is why we can never find clearance lego or the larger sets on Buy 1 get one. These aholes hoarde all the sets at the expense of our children. Screw them , wont be buying their 129 dollar asking price for Minecraft lol." I hon…
