Heya, I've got a coupon to buy a set at -50%, they don't have much available so here's the breakout doubting between Lego city 60197 train, 60292 market place, 75969 harry potter astronomy tower and ninjago 71721 ninjago skull dragon. city 60266 city ocean ship is also available. Any input or thoughts?

I've been keeping track of my buying and selling and it looks like as far as my records go, a dryspell for sales and deals until summer. What do you guys do in the off season? Do you still sell when you aren't buying? Do you wait until Christmastime to do the bulk of your wheeling and dealing?

just curious what you guys prefer to use when selling your Legos? Do you use Ebay or Brink link. while Ebay takes over 10% plus pay pal fees. Brink link seems to be a better choice since it starts off with 3%. any suggestions? thanks

Question on yield. I'm a long term investor in the stock market. I love its passive nature, you buy stock, sit back and wait for its dividends to roll in. Investing in Lego is similar to commodity investing. In other forms I hate commodity investing, if you're stuck with a commodity that doesn't go up, you can't even take solace in the fact it will be paying dividends while it's in the doldrums. Lego on the other hand has this strange addictive pull, I don't know what it is that attracts me to it, generally I hate non passive investments (by non passive I mean the fact you have to box the products up and ship them hoping you don't catch a bad buyer that derails any pr…

I have a question for the pros here. For the sets that amazon "zombies" or continues to sell for a year or 2 past retirement, are the seal codes still pre retirement? Basically, I am trying to figure out if lego makes one monster batch before retirement for amazon, or do they keep the molds and continuously produce and restock them for amazon over the course of post retirement period. For example if I bought this guy here, would it have 2023 codes on it? IT potentially can affect a buying decision.....

  7. Hi and sorry in advance if there is a topic about this already. I recently bought a used set that was supposed to be 100% complete. After auditing the pieces, it was missing nearly 10% plus some of the pieces appeared to not be part of the original set as advertised. Counting pieces can take quite a bit of time, exceeding 10 hours for large sets. As a result of this experience, I am concerned that I will go through this exercise with all my used set purchases. So if I'm going to wind up spending over 10 hours counting pieces whenever I buy large used sets and some of those pieces are not original, I was wondering how much time it takes and money is saved by buyin…

  8. Maybe I am reading too much into this but are the deals that some people stumble upon on eBay hurting the market value of sets? Since the calculated value is based upon eBay sales then this should be the case right? A recent example is the smoking deal that a member (over 50% off) got yesterday on a set due to the sellers listing error. That sale will probably hurt the value since not that many of that set being sold. Will stuff like this even itself out eventually? Am I making an issue out of nothing?

You would think with it's popularity and the new movies this would be a no brainer. Why do you think this has never been done?

  10. Hey All, I am new to investing, actually just working on getting started. I do currently buy bulk lots off ebay/craigslist and then part them out. This has been making me a good profit from selling on ebay and bricklink, but I would like to try my hand at investing. I KNOW that every new person asks these types of questions and a lot of people are going to just say "look at the forums", but sometimes it just difficult to find the answer your looking for unless you have some really good google-fu. Questions: Is there anyway to know the exact release date of new exclusives? I tried to google this but I just get partial information. Sometimes when…

So I was digging through some boxes at my in-laws house and found I had stashed 5 Wolverine and a mini modulars set. Previously I discovered Hulk sets and Robie Houses I had put aside. Am I crazy or do people also put some of their excess sets they get cheap enough aside to be forgotten about for a rainy day?

Hi all, I rcently noticed the new Lego Juniors series on the shelves, Batman, "Defend the Batcave" (10672) and Spiderman, "Spider-Car Pursuit" (10665). They look pretty cool, and although in the "juniors" range, considering the cool mini figures, and the interest in super hero sets at the moment, does anyone have any thoughts on whether these might be a good investment or not? This is my first post, and have only been collecting for a month or so, and haven't even listed my inventory yet. Go easy on me.....Lol Thanks in advance, Sean

  13. Hi I have been around for a few years now in the lego world seriously and wondered how people spend their time with Lego. I personally got back into it with the coming of age of my children being interested in lego which fuelled my interest. I was horrified to see sets selling for so much money that i had as a child. We embarked on a 20kg stash from ebay and as they built sets we bought missing pieces from bricklink, then opened a shop to sell our spare parts and the rest is history. With a very succesful Bricklink and Ebay store and a every growing investment section I now need more room!!!! Just wanted general feedback really, i ask all my customers what they are …

Couple questions to the Knowledgeable folks here. . . . Where do you go to buy a full box of Minifigure Series? Is it worth buying the whole box? Is it worth just sitting in the store when they come out and feeling through about 30 bags until you figure out you have them all? Thoughts? (Or link me to a thread where this has already been discussed - although im curious of an update on where people plan to source a WHOLE box for the upcoming series and possibly Disney 2 series.)

  15. Hi guys, Like many i've come out of my so called dark ages quite a while ago. I started "small" and bought a ucs at-st like 2 years ago followed by a ucs imperial ship. I then had sort of a cold spot until this year where i managed to bricklink a 10179 falcon (cost me about 600 euros). Now i love building lego even though my gf almost gets crazy when i order some (lol) but i also think it really is a good investment. However, given the price tag of many sets, one has to think twice about pilling them up in a closet for hypothetical gain later... So this may come as a dumb question on this site but has anyone actually made some good benefits with inveting in lego? Is…

Hi, What are good 2018/2019 exclusive sets to buy now as an investment for later? I like multiple sets like the Bugatti Chiron (42083) or Y-Wing Starfighter (75181) but are these smart investments for later? What are thing to look at and what type of sets are not overproduced? How can you recognize good sets? ?

Hi Guys Sorry I am not sure if there is a thread already but I recently started selling my Lego on ebay and I am charging people sales tax on new sets. Looking at other sellers they don't seem to be charging sales tax on sales , is there an option to turn it off? I don't quite understand if I need to charge for it? I would have paid it when I bought it do I need to charge when I sell it? Thank you Stu

Neither my Bachelors or my Masters degree was in Economics so can someone explain why some sets have a higher used value than new? Diagon Alley being one. I am sure there is a simple explanation, i am just unaware of it. Thanks in advance.

Looking for feedback from members who currently play &/or collect pieces from the X-Wing Miniature cards/dice game. My son asked me about it and I trust the discussions between members on this site to inform a) how much fun/playability the game offers b) whether the pieces might have any potential resale value if/when my son loses interest at a later date. Read amazon reviews and the wiki; I see they are releasing a 2nd series and the breadth of offerings from the manufacturer over many years leads me to believe this is a popular game. Any advice appreciated.

Here's a question for discussion. If most people here are investing in typically the same sets such as: Fire Brigade, Pet Shop, Vampyre's Castle, Helm's Deep etc... Won't this make us all competitors when it comes time to sell? I know we all have differen't thresholds for profit and selling but at one time or another there will be times when our selling will overlap with eachother. Let the friendly competition begin.

  25. This is no joke, I let my son flip through the spring catalog and here is what I have to report. After flipping through all the pages in order, presumably to weigh all of his options before his decisions be went back to the Jabbas palace page and pointed to the jabba minifig. He then flipped to the page with the F1 Technic set and stared for a few minutes (maybe he can't decide on its investment potential). He then got back to the Legends of China page and began ripping out the pages. (I don't like its investment potential either). Take what you want from this.......I know I did!
