Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. Well a lot has been going on in the past 24 hours. Certain things are still a mess and I still have a bit of clean up to do. I don't believe that the site has propagated around the world yet, so there are probably a bunch of users that are not able to see the site yet. Hopefully by tomorrow, that will be done and everyone will be back on. Even though things aren't the way I want them, this becomes a good time for me to start making changes that were planned in the future. Here are a few updates: eBay/Price Guide Data: Well I finally learned that the main eBay site and all of it's global sites did a bunch of category changes and did not notify it's third party…

Due to popular demand, Jeff has added an AUTOMATIC LOGIN feature. The site should keep you logged in now without signing you out when your computer shuts down. I know it's nothing major, but many members were annoyed by the lack of one. Let us know if you have issues. My computer was still logged on this morning, so I think it works... Ed Mack

Does it make more sense for this number to be calculated by using a weighted average rather than a simple average? For example the Monster Hunters number looks a little inflated because of the existence of a couple of smaller sets which as a % have a high CAGR. Just a thought...

  7. Started by TheOrcKing,

I never thought I would have ever needed to write up a topic for this but very recent events and certain comments say otherwise. Almost every day, new topics are created bringing forth attention to certain articles, questions asked, or in some cases just for fun. Sometimes, however, the same discussion gets brought up from time to time with another newly formed thread. Now there is not exactly anything wrong with that. It is only natural to make mistakes and some threads can be difficult to find without knowing the right keywords to use in a search. So as a moderator, part of our job is to put similar threads together for various reasons. 1. A single thread is much easi…

  8. Started by TheOrcKing,

After reading so many reviews by other members and their choice of stats, I'm a little confused on this one. If on a scale from 1-10, with 1 being a common set that was or is available at any major retailer and 10 being insanely exclusive (like Comic-Con exclusive, "The Zombies" set exclusive, grand opening of a LEGO store exclusive, a UK only exclusive!), then why are there so many reviews with the "Exclusivity" rated so high on what would be considered a 'common' or easily available set? Is my logic off? I really need some clarification on this, please! I am not putting your opinions into question or saying they are wrong, not at all. I am just trying to unders…

I think it's time to find another site... Models are missing - like the 10252 VW Beetle, the submit a comment is missing on some pages, or can't be filled out... No one EVER replies to comments.

Hello, At Brickpicker, we strive to provide fast and easy access to the great content supplied by members. Jeff recently made an awesome change to how forum searches work. Now when typing a set name or number in the forum textbox, the predicted top results will appear automatically and are click-able. note: You can also still search the original way. Here are three examples. I want to ask a question about that popular Batman Arkham. However, I can't quickly find the main thread (aka topic). Type "arkham" in the search box and the most popular Arkham threads appear automatically. This is way cool and easy, right? Now I can post my quest…

I apologize if this has been asked before. Is their plans to add a sell feature to our Brickfolios so that we can track our realized gains?

  12. Started by Jeff Mack,

This has been brought up in the past and I have let it slip away, but a good post by Comicblast the other day made me think about it again. Some of you are already hunting and locating nice deals on a daily basis and sometimes several times a day. For now I am not looking to do anything too fancy. I will create a new forum group in the Special Deals section for a small group of Brickpicker members that are interesting in scouring Amazon, eBay, anywhere and posting deals. Pretty much it will be a new forum post a day, much like what Comic Blast had there. It can just be called Daily Lego Deals 9/20/2013, etc. The members will be able to edit the main post and add ne…

  13. Reading some of the latest comments I added in a feature that will show you similar topics when you are posting. This is just a trial run. Some may find it annoying, some may find it helpful. It can cut down on duplicate posts and help keep other topics going strong. Lets try it out and see how it works. Here is a video to show how it works. After you type your topic title and move to the next form field, you should see the topic options come in. If you see a topic that matches yours, don't create a new one, keep the other one alive. I disabled this feature in the Introduce Yourself forum, since I know there will already be many similar types. That is fine. h…

Dear Mods I dunno what has happened, but since the upgrade, my signature has changed (as you can see below) It should be this : くまくま━━━━━━ヽ( ・(ェ)・ )ノ━━━━━━ !! 16. Started by Jeff Mack,

We had a hard drive failure on the server today. I am trying to move the site to a temp server while this one is being rebuilt. That is why there have been a bunch of bugs and errors. I am trying to get things back to normal as soon as I can, but I am sure you will still having issues logging in from time to time, or see weird things. Sorry for the inconvenience Jeff

  19. Started by Ed Mack,

There have been some inconsistencies with some sets in the Brickfolio as of the last update. Jeff has been working on integrating the UK, Australia and Germany data, so there have been some issues. Please be patient. It takes time to cycle through tens of thousands of listings if adjustments are made. It will be corrected shortly. Thanks...Ed

  20. Started by Jeff Mack,

A little while back Brickset posted this inventory data for the EU. We weren't sure what would happen with it, so we wanted to wait a while before posting up any page that included this info. It's been a while and they are still posting it on their site, so we are going to make it available here as well. I am working on new a new price guide template and this information will be included there as well. I will be adding the charts to it soon as well. These pages allow you to easily see the themes as a group. You will also be able to see the number of sales for the prior day and the percentage of inventory sold. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/eu-inventory.cfm

Does anyone know of a way to subscribe via email to the BrickVesting blog and/or the LEGO News feed? I was hoping, since the LEGO news feed has been updated, that someone would add a subscription feature to it. It would make it easier for me to see and read the BrickVesting blog as well. Thanks, Nathan
