Minifigures

The Lego® world of minifigures is a fascinating thing. Do you collect them?

  1. Started by cflannagan,

I've only looked at LEGO investing in terms of sets, not minifigs, until recently. I noticed that the shirtless Darth Maul fig I got for free with a TRU order some time ago goes for as much as $20 in recent ebay auctions. I'm beginning to open my eyes more about the minifigs that comes with LEGO sets in general. I am curious about whether or not there is money potential in Series 1 thru 9 (or higher) minifigs - should I, if I have the cash and the interest, try to obtain the earlier Series (1 thru , for investment purposes? Or has the ship sailed and is mainly for collectors meaning no money in investing/selling?

  2. This is an example of LEGO CMF series 3 to 9 with bump codes on a package.... https://www.google.com/search?q=lego+minifigures+bump+codes&hl=en&tbo=u&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=kJcMUYSqBsTvygHF0oD4Bw&sqi=2&ved=0CDUQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=630 Many people just buy series blindly and waist money.....U can use this bump codes before and save. I usually use "feel it method". Check specific item for every minifigure and try to find it inside. easy and fun.

  3. I always find it interesting that somehow the minifigs the comprise a lego set are worth more than the set used. Many of the battlepacks are like this. I also just noticed General Grievous Starfighter 8095 set sells used for around $20, General Grievous figure alone sells for $20-$35. Could be some profit to be had with that set.

Take a look at these clever displays for series 9. What a great idea. Series 9 displays

So I preordered the new Lego City game for Wii U at Target. If you preorder the game you get a $10 gift card (once you pick up the game) and a chase McCain minifigure (now). #1 - You are not obligated to pick up the game. #2 - It costs $1 to "preorder".

  6. Are these minifigs similar? If they are I can already see some A hole passing a desert skiff one off as a cloud city one on eBay and scamming some poor fool out there. If they are very similar how can you tell the difference?

  7. Hey guys. Just wondering what you think about the upcoming Batman Lego Visual Dictionary. It gets released on September 17th. Do you think it is worth the $14.95 just for the minifigure? It is an exclusive "Electro Suit Batman". I can't imagine the book itself increasing in value over the years...which is why I'm curious about whether the minifigure will eventually go up. Thanks for your thoughts, Michael.

Hi, I am thinking about picking up the original (I think there is just one) Greedo minifigure. What would be a good price for him?

  9. i just created a video with bump codes for 10 minifigs... waiter alien avenger hollywood starlet heroic knight*** battle mech*** cyclops chicken suit guy policeman mermaid good & evil ***these 2 minifigs showed inconsistencies with their bump codes. might be problematic so use the back up method of "feeling" them out. BUT I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM so i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post my youtube link for the bumpcodes... if i can, please let me know. ***UPDATE*** received admin approval to post this link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwdHKGMVTSY hope this helps you all find the specific figs you're looking for... 10. For anyone that wondered whether the "Chase McCain" minifigure in this year's CITY "High Speed Chase" set (60007) was the same as the one in the exclusive pre-order polybag (5000281) available for a very short time at Target, rest assured, they are not. I just picked up the box set at Target and already had the exclusive pre-order from before, and have examined the two minifigures thusly. The only similarity they have is the head (or face printing) and hairpiece. Besides that, little else. The torsos and legs are completely different. "Chase" in the box set has the same torso and legs as the rest of the cops in the 2013 CITY sets, while the pre-order "Chase" truly has hi…

Series 1 & 2: Each character had their own different barcode. Series 3 - 7: Barcode is now the same on all mystery packages, but a braille-like 'bump' code was found. With only a few exceptions, like one character having two completely different codes or the code being reversed between batches. Now we are up to Series 8 (with Series 9 & 10 coming next year), and I just discovered something that will make the life of anybody that had to rely on the 'code' to get the figures they want a whole lot worse. ....The code doesn't work anymore. Well, it still does kind of. Let me explain. You know how on the bottom of the back on each packet how there'…

  12. Hi, Are Lego Minifigures Blind Packs a good investment? I don't see many Minifigure sealed boxes on eBay, and the ones I do see, the value hasn't risen much. The exception is Series 1, where sealed boxes are about $400. Series 2-8 seem to go for around $170-200. Is it worth getting some older sets and waiting another 3-5 years? -HWB

I know lego came out with a vip version of a couple of the minifigures. I am about to make a trade and the person who I am trading asked if the space villain is from the original series. Is there any difference between the two? I looked them up on bricklink and I don't see any difference. Anybody have both that they can compare for me?

Hi, Where's the best place, price wise, to buy Minifigures? I'm referring to the bagged Series 9 single figures. Went to TRU today and they were $3.20 each... Outside of clearances, where can one get these figures cheaper? Thanks! -HWB

    Started by Guest,

I don't know how anyone can make profit on selling minifigures on Ebay. Fortunately I only had two Series 9 figures to sell. I mailed each in a small bubble wrap envelope - weight less than one ounce each. Cost at the Post Office was $1.95 each. I saw Ebay wants $1.64, but still I paid $2.99 each on Lego site. Sold one for $7.05 and the other for $3.70. No way would I spend my time trying to sell these unless I am missing something. One buyer told me to package them carefully as he has received them damaged. The Post Office employee said because they were in a bubble wrap envelope that they should arrive okay.

I wish they would make an R2 with a third leg to make it look more realistic.....looks awkward with only 2 legs. Is there one and I just haven't seen it???

Recently, I've been seeing quite some low-quality printing on minifig torsos. The prints come of as light and the base colour of the torso it visible under the print. Example, look at your Santa Yoda. See how pink his "white" print is? If these parts are NOT made in China, then is this a serious dip in production standards or what? Hi, I am quite green to this site(less than a week) and I have been slowly adding my collection to my brickfolio. I haven't been able to figure out how to add a minifigure from a set(e.***. any star wars set). I collect minifigures as well as sets, so like most of you I'm sure, I have WAY more minifigs than I do sets that they originally came with. Does anyone know how to do this? Or can it even be done? thanks. Luglife

Not really all that interested in the Chima sets but I know that I will be getting some of the eagle minifigs for some splicers to go with the Bioshock MOC I am working on. Hopefully the other minifigs, the sets or unique pieces have some value in the future to offset the cost of the set.

Just a heads up not sure if anyone will care but toys r us online has series 5 minifigures available for sale. I just bought ten. And they are having a "sale" where most sets are marked down to retail price instead of the jacked up toysrus price. And free shipping with orders of 79 dollars or more. Also picked up an unexpected gathering for retail price with free shipping.

  22. I could ask the eBay sellers, but odds are they wouldn't share their information with me. I am specifically talking about the new Aquaman, Mr. Freeze, and white Batman figures. These arent due out for a little bit, and people have been selling them on eBay for several days. They say they have them "in hand." Anyone know how this works?

I guess there have been some reports of series 9 showing up in lego stores. So be on the lookout. Anyone know the best place to buy boxes of these from?

If you have the lego zombie from series 1 could you check to see if there is the lego logo between the two leg pegs (pegs that go into the torso). I am not sure if there is suppose to be a logo or not. Trying to verify if I bought an authentic one...thanks

  25. Currently at Target, you can buy a preorder reservation card for the LEGO - CITY "Undercover" video game exclusive to the Wii for only $1. Attached to each of these is a polybag containing an exclusive minifigure of the game's main character, "Chase McCain". It's also supposed to come with a collector's card. I do not know if there is limit as to how many preorders you can buy (there usually is a per customer limit), but I believe these will only be available until November 18, when the game becomes available. Whether or not the character will become collectible or worth investing is anyones guess, but at one dollar how could you not make a profit later down the road…
