Since we have a pretty popular "Complaint Thread", I thought it might be a good idea to start an "I Love It! Thread". I'd like to begin with: I love it when I make a big $500 or more purchase because of a sale or great deal and shortly afterward make enough back in sales to cover the costs and then some. It helps with the buyer's guilt.

If there is one thing I have learned, it's that music truly is the most universal language in the world. Besides myself looking for yet another excuse to post anything at all or just a good one to post music videos, I would like everyone here to feel free to post links to some of your favorite tunes and/or talk about what you like to listen to. Consider this thread your very own little "House of Blues" as it were. Anyway as for an opening post, I had some difficulty trying to think of a good opener, a nice ice breaker everyone may enjoy, and well I came up with this. Enjoy. Disclaimer: Everyone has their own likes & dislikes which includes their listening preferen…

Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings. Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it en…

Hi guys, so was doing some reading on wired today... saw this http://www.wired.com/opinion/2013/05/lets-cut-through-the-bitcoin-hype/ This is the wikipedia page that tells you about Bitcoin (if you were as clueless as I was about it two years ago) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin What do you guys think about a new currency like this? Would it help or hurt online sales, both Legal and otherwise. Do you think it would help lego investors as being an easier way to transfer funds..? Just thought it could be fun to talk about..

Note: Invest at your own risk. Do you own homework before buying / selling. Don’t assume advice posted here is financially sound. Wanted to create an investment thread about stocks and how market conditions can impact those investments. Thought about creating one in 2020 but with COVID & other items going on, I didn’t. Instead, I posted in a similar thread on another non-investing web site. Posts can include topics relating to individual securities : stocks, bonds, options, indices, & ETFs. Sharing informative links encourage. Please DON’T get political or posts will be removed.

Hi all - I've noticed a lot of talk about kids, their likes and dislikes, complaints, and all sorts of other things, seeping into a bunch of other topics. So, why don't we all just talk about them here? I'll start moving some posts here. We've been talking everything from Minecraft, to potty training, to Thomas the Tank trains.

If you're a Pinhead like me then you know how much of a comeback the pinball industry has been doing in the last few years. Between Stern, who has been around since the beginning still coming up with new tables, to newcomers Jersey Jack Pinball here in the states and Heighway Pinball based in the UK. Anyway, the point I'm getting to is Jersey Jack Pinball is designing their next (second) pinball machine on (wait for it....) The Hobbit! I figured since Stern did The Lord of the Rings pinball then they would have gotten the rights to do this too but I guess Jersey Jack managed to snag those especially after wowing everyone with their much long awaited The Wizard of Oz …

I typically don't give these their own topic but this stop-motion short is really friggin' good! Forgot to mention, probably should turn on closed captions/subtitles if they are not already.

I....love....COOKING! ....But I hate the cleanup. I used to cook so much with my mother growing up until around middle school I think where the desire just waned. I have concocted the odd dish over the years but nothing that intensive really outside a random burrito or pizza (or random leftovers). Anyway, since last year about when I got back into some actual fitness and eating better overall, I started cooking again and rekindled a sort of passion forgotten to time. Granted the meals thus far have been straightforward with nigh a handful of ingredients. Still, I am becoming more comfortable in mixing, experimenting, substituting, and ultimately eating signifi…

As I get older and more set in the way I think things should be, or the way things were, I find myself annoyed and frustrated at a lot of changes to websites and apps. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get a wrench set from Walmart shipped to my home. It's the $6 set that every store should have, and the app and the website says 4 stores in my area have but I went to all four on my hunting rounds and none of them have this item : Hyper Tough 6-Piece Combination Wrench Set, Metric - Walmart.com If anyone has any suggestions on what I'm missing I would appreciate it. Whenever I use the website and add the item to my shopping cart, it says for home delivery …

I'm in the market for a new laptop or chromebook and looking for a bit of advice from my fellow brickpickers. Too much backstory: I grew up using Macs in the 90s because my dad was an elementary school teacher spearheading the use of computers in education in his district. I used an iBook in college that had so many problems, it was awful, but it was mine, then I got a real nice Macbook Pro with my first paycheck after college and it was quite good, only had it's logic board replaced once! All this time I was using Windows workstations for GIS and I became disillusioned with Apple as a megacorporation. My current laptop is a 2016 Razer Blade because I wanted a nice A…

Because we are a global community, I would like to create a thread for talking about the COVID-19 how this has impacted you. I work for a smaller, Chinese-owned tool company. Our workforce after CNY and the extended break was only running at about 40%, of which this is actually on the higher side compared to what I've heard about other, much larger tech companies. While we haven't felt much of the impact here in the US, I am sure we will soon. The way that some companies flow in goods from overseas will really have an impact on store shelves; Stores like Walmart that have large DC's and reroute the flow and quantity of goods so that the shelves don't look as bare. T…
