Really Non LEGO Stuff

Whether LEGO related or just anything fun and interesting, talk about it here.

  1. Started by Alpinemaps,

So, here's an odd story. On my neighborhood's Facebook page, on Friday, someone posted a picture of a FedEx Ground truck. They asked if anyone knew what was going on, as it had been sitting there for a few days, appearing to not have moved. Of course, neighborhood drama and discussion ensued, with questions of "why doesn't someone call the Sheriff?" "Why doesn't someone call FedEx?" "Why doesn't someone call the media?" It took a good day before someone actually DID anything other than suggest that someone do something. Someone went and checked it out, and it was unlocked, and loaded with local packages for delivery. That person locked the truck up. The…

  3. Ever bought only one of something, or decided not to buy something at all and regretted it dearly after finding that it could have made you money? I bought one of the Amazon Exclusive 4 pack of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Glow in the Dark Funko Pop Vinyls for $35 back when they were for sale. Wish I would have known their valuation for now because not you have to spend at least $100+ to get them off ebay. Could have bought 10 for $350 and made over $3,000 on them. Regrets.

Hi there, I have discovered these in a few of the Lego lots I have purchased. I realize they are not Lego but would someone please be able to ID this for me? My 7 year old son insists that they are cat toys, LOL! I think they are Megablok wheels. Please settle our disagreement. Thanks!

I like to buy from the pick a brick wall at the Lego store. I don't usually reuse the cups for the discount so I end up having way too many cups. I took up cup decorating.

It was my birthday on the 15th, and I have a fun little birthday story I thought other Lego addicts might enjoy. A present from my wife, a stylish new hat. A gift from my daughter. Can you guess what they are? Yes, they are felted Lego blocks. Then a card from my son. Signed by my whole family. How sad. But luckily I ordered something for myself from eBay. I didn't open the shipping box until my birthday and found an unexpected birthday surprise. The seller threw it in for free. 5 star service. An amazing day all around,

  13. So, since starting a little modest investing in Lego, it's been hard to escape the Star Wars theme. However, I've never really been into Sci-Fi so have never ever sat down to watch any of the films/movies properly. I now feel that to understand the sets better (and hopefully for some viewing pleasure) I need to get a better understanding of the characters and ships etc, which means watching the films. I did a little search on-line and it has been suggested to watch the episodes in this order: IV, V, I, II, III, VI. However, others have said you could just miss out I, or all of I, II, and III. Just wondering what your advice would be. If I'm not missing o…

I was wondering if anyone was into collecting sports cards. I am going through my old collection and unloading the stuff just to make room in my storage room. Anyways I have a hard time finding prices on some sealed boxes. Does anyone belong to a service or have any information. I have gone through ebay and even searched the web for prices and am stuck on this one box now. It is a 1997 sp authentic football box. I wish I had a fraction of the money i spent on cards from the mid 90's to mid 2000's . Just in seled boxes I am lucky to get 1/4 back. I did get lucky with 2000 sp authentics. I sold 4 of those for 350+ in last few months. Bu…

  18. A cool podcast to listen to ... reminds me a lot of the LEGO trading network here. If you like other things that people trade and invest in that might seem odd ... then this is a great listen ... http://www.econtalk.org/archives/2016/01/josh_luber_on_s.html Just out today. Description from EconTalk here: How many pairs of sneakers do you own? Josh Luber of Campless and StockX talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the world of sneakerheads--people passionate for collecting and trading sneakers. Each week people line up to buy classic sneaker models Nike re-releases. Luber has collected millions of transactions from Ebay on these sneakers an…

So as of January 29th I will no longer be employed after 15 years of faithful service at a big biotech company. First time unemployed and frankly I'm scared. Mortgage , kids , insurance are at the forefront of my concerns, but also my Lego collection. Any advice?

  22. I'd offer to buy George Lucas's company from him. Nah just kidding, I don't know if I could deal with him calling me a white slaver. Just curious what some of the people's big dreams on this site were.

  23. There has been some interest in creating a fantasy football league for us brickpickers to have a little fun with. I've created a league on yahoo. Here are the details... 12 team head to head PPR. Snake draft. Points for yardage and td's. Starting lineups will consist of 1qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 1 flex(rb, wr, or te), 1 k, 1 d/st, and 6 bench players. Top six teams will make the playoffs. Prize money awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. $30 franchise fee. All money collected will be paid back to the league 100%. 1st place will get $220, 2nd place $90, and 3rd place $30. Total of $340. League financials will be posted and tracked on the league site so ever…
