I was going to start this one at roughly the same time as the other about brainstorming ideas for a Halloween Town but became sidetracked. Moving along, how about we use this topic to come up with ideas for a custom Winter Village/Christmas Town for when ol' Hallows Eve is done? There is this holiday modified Cafe Corner by odysea11 if you haven't seen it for a start and the Winter Village sets are also good foundation beginners. Hmm.... I am actually at a bit of a loss here. I guess my mind is just more geared for Halloween with monsters, demons, costumes, candy, and.... stuff.

Have you ever thought about rebuilding old sets using new techniques? If so then perhaps you should check out experienced MOCer L@go's gallery showcasing fresh spins on classic sets. When building a set do you apply the stickers if the set has them? Curious as to what others do.

  5. Started by cobi,

I am new to the Lego world, but have become hooked. I have had some issues, wondering if anyone else has. Bought Pet shop new in September, received 2 instruction book #2 no #1. Got Death Star for Christmas, and while the instruction book is impressive it was missing 2 pages. Grand Emporium came with the flower part for roof with no hole, had to have Lego send new part. Is it just my bad luck?

  8. Who knew LEGO's Microfighters 'chibi' style would have inspired a new breed of builds? (Or how about this CUUSOO submission from a year before LEGO unleased the Star Wars Microfighters upon the world.)

  9. Started by lobo1969,

For all the years of building and taking apart LEGO I've never owned or even used a brick seperator. Am I the only one? I'm sure it comes in handy for those flat plates but I've always managed to get by.

  11. Hey Folks! Recently I've been displaying more and more custom creations (or just somewhat modified) Vs. actual LEGO designed sets. I guess I've just hit a point where i take more pride in something i have personally designed/fixed/added to. As many of you may have seen a few months ago; i made a large Jurassic World display with most of the JW sets (you can view that below), but as we all know - the JW sets other than the Dino's are pretty lame and not very screen accurate. So it started look a little kiddie on display with my 10179 and Pirate Ships and i took it down. However JP still is one of my favourite franchises and i felt bad not displa…

In a small apartment our count is up to 63 (17 mini scaled like the SW planet ships). With four winter themed coming down soon. They're everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom (loo for the brits). We definitely have a problem just wondering others level of displays?

  14. So I'm interested to see if anybody is brave enough to divulge their weirdest building habits/rituals to the community. I was building the Fire Brigade this morning when I got to thinking about this. For me, I make sure all of the brick studs with the tiny word "LEGO" molded onto it are facing the same way. I absolutely hate when the words are all jumbled together! So all bricks that go East/West I aim to the right, and North/South bricks I aim to the top of the base plates. Another weird habit of mine is that I spend an estimated 2-3 extra hours on any given set making sure all 1x1 tiles, studs, and bricks are perfectly lined up with the bricks below and above them. I…

Based on a classic age where tantalizing tales of science fiction and pleasing aesthetical forms of art came together to create a captivating concept of an alternate future utopia about ray guns, star travel, hulking robots, and invaders from beyond, these builds capture this essence of a "retro future" in all its delightfully quirky charms. While many if not most of the designs could hardly be considered practical or efficient by today's real world standards of technology and leisure, nevertheless much like a vintage car what matters is the look of the ride itself. Battle for the Moon: American light tank on patrol Battle for the Moon: USMC mech bay, Mare Nectaris se…

  17. Hey gang, Been reading the website for about a year now, but this is my first post. Has anyone tried buying all the pieces for a Green Grocer Modular 10185 or other ModularBuilding through the missing pieces feature of the Lego LEGO Shop at Home website? A good friend of mine has used LEGO Shop at Home to buy all his pieces to build over 20 Custom Modular builidings, but he's never tried to to buy all the pieces for an entire production set. I looked today, and you can buy all but 12 of the pieces for the Green Grocer set from LEGO Shop at Home. I figure I'd use brick link to pick up the remaining few pieces. This set would be for my own personal collection, n…

Thank you to those who commented on my first video that I launched a month ago. I started a new one today. Preparing to knock it out of the park with new releases coming out in August.

  19. Started by Grolim,

So I've decided to build my own Lego Star Wars chess set after being inspired by a few different versions I've seen online. I want a neat way to display my SW minifig collection and to expand into some of the figs I don't have. A few Bricklink orders have been placed and I've sorted out most of my piece selections. just thought I'd canvass the community on ones where I'm a little undecided. So vote away! Question 1 - Rebel pawns - Hoth trooper vs Rebel pilots Q2 - And all 8 exactly the same or have variants? Q3 - Imperial/Dark Side rooks - Wampa & Rancor vs Grievous & Droideka My board is going to have a 5x5 stud per square footprint, so no…

  20. Started by Grolim,

With today's newer sets this isn't really an issue as they come in nice numbered bags that you open a step at a time. But when you get a large used set or heaven forbid you open a vintage set ( ) how do you go about the build process? Do you pre-sort following some routine or do you dump it in a pile and find each piece type as needed? Which way is faster? Do you do it your way for speed, or perhaps a more enjoyable build experience?

  21. Has anyone ever done this? I think it would be uber fun, (albeit wastefull) to build an old set like Jango Fett"s Slave 1 mint out of the box today. It would be so wierd to be getting those classic gray/grey pieces out of an unopened bag!

I have a plastic tub of lego from my childhood that I have in the basement. I have moved a couple times since I last used them, probably when I was about 12. they have been in the same container and although I would never get rid of them, I always figured they would be for my kids, if I ever had them. I never gave them a second thought and completely ignored the toy aisles at stores before I had kids of my own. I was thinking to myself the other day, since I have probably enough lego now to fill a U-Haul- what was my first new set when my interest was rekindled? its taken me a few days but I have finally tracked it back to the blacksmith attack on sale at target for…

  23. I have a common dilemma that I'm sure others here have faced: I have a huge, sealed Lego inventory and in moments of weakness, I get the urge to build a set. Staring for months at my rack of sealed Death Stars, Tumblers, and Sandcrawlers can break down the resistance of even the most hardened investor. Anyway, once you've made the foolish decision to build a kit, I think there's some things you can do to preserve as much value as possible for later resale. Here's a couple of thoughts and ideas: 1) Face it, you're going to lose some value. This is unavoidable. A sealed kit with unopened bags will always be worth more than a built kit, no matter what else you do. If …

  25. I searched and didn't see this one but if it already exists mods please merge. So I was breaking down my Tumbler, selling it as used, and I was just amazed at the level of complexity to this build. It gave me a new appreciation for some of the different techniques that are used when I was taking it apart So what were some of your most challenging builds and why? This may help others select their next set or help them avoid one. My top 3 easiest to hardest: 3. United Nations, after 40 years of not playing with Lego I saw this set at BN and those translucent blue tiles were just calling my name, little did I know what I was getting into. As a kid I just did f…
