Encouraged by Comicblast's recent introduction despite being an (awesome) long-ish time site member, I am going to finally put myself out into the Brickpicker society. Per my username, my real name is Brian. I am a teenage (15) Lego fan from Alberta, Canada. No, we do not ride polar bears, live in igloos (mostly), or integrate maple syrup heavily into our diet. We do however, have a decent supply of Lego, which lead to my lifelong love of the brick starting with my first set,8561 Nuhvok, which was a gift from my brother. I came across the site after seeing a link to it on some of Ed's comments on Brickset or Eurobricks (can't remember which) and quickly fell in love with …

Have you gone through the default set of Avatars, and yet none of them 'clicked'? Have not found the one that says to the world "Hey, that's me!". That is exactly what this thread is meant to be. A suggestion box for new Avatars. As this site expands and the amount of members joined becomes staggering, we will need more 'faces' for all the fresh faces around here. Suggestions can range from general ideas to very specific custom ones for yourself. The more detailed the description, the better. I dabble a bit with graphics myself. Even done some pixel art here & there. So whatever your idea is for a new Avatar, I would love to hear it!

I've been collecting LEGO now for about two years. I invest a little just to support my habit. Mostly stuff i can find at clearance such as the Black Pearl. I have collected Star Wars stuff in general for the last thirty years. Finally got burned out on action figures. I had friends that collected Star Wars LEGO but i never really thought much of it. Once i bought a set for myself though, i was hooked. Putting them together is very therapeutic and calming. I still collect some other Star Wars stuff like Gentle Giant busts and statues. I also collect Hot Wheels as well. With all this stuff, I am running out of room though. LOL I'm disabled with a heart condition so that's …

Hey everyone! I recently rekindled my long lost love for Lego now that I have 3 young kids. Actually, I've gone a little Lego nuts.... It started with the discovery of an old, dusty box of legos, capsela, and construx in my parents garage about 4 months ago. I started going through it, sorting the legos out from the rest with the intention of finding enough for my kids to play with. The more I pulled out, the more I was reminded of the awesomeness that is Lego. Pretty much my whole collection (much smaller than I remember it being) was made up of (I think) the King's Castle (6080), Galaxy Explorer (497), Cosmic Cruiser (6890), Space Supply Station (6930), Star…

Hi, my name is Jeff and I am the developer of this site. My brother Ed and I have been fans of Lego for a long time, when we were kids, we used to have all sorts of competitions, and if I lost, i would have to sort all his Legos into different boxes so he could build his next big ship. One day I will find the photos to show you. Ed is the super serious investor and after watching him track all his purchases and sets, we started getting more serious about the idea. Well its been a blast building this site so far, and the more we do, the more ideas that are streaming out of our heads, now its just making it happen. Some good stuff is on the horizon and I can't wait to …

Good day all, from beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada! I have to admit that I own exactly one Lego set. Yesterday I bought a Uruk-Hai Army set for my son. As he is just over three weeks old, suffice to say, we won't share the joys of building that I remember from childhood for quite sometime. But this leads me to my query. I'd love to spend the coming years building a collection of sets for him to enjoy as he gets older. LOTR spoke to me as both my spouse and I love the books and movies and I thought he would enjoy the sets as he ages. Can anyone give me any suggestions on sets to collect? I, frankly, know little about the hobby but understand t…

Hi, my name is Joe, I have always looked at Legos but never really got into it until six months ago. I have been a diecast collector for 20 years and it just got boring. So,far in my collecting BP here values my collection at over 10,000.00 , I was amazed, and I still have stuff that I can't log into my brickfolio like the NYC Yodas. I have already learned a lot here and I hope to learn much more. Thanks for the read.

Hi everyone - long time LEGO fan, but I'm new to Brickpicker and Lego investing "for profit." I was wise enough in my youth to save all my old Lego sets from the 80s and 90s, but just because I loved them so much - I never really thought about selling them! :-). I have many classic castle, forestmen, pirates, and space sets. Now my son is 6 and loves Lego and I have rediscovered my love for them as well - man are the sets and themes cooler now...there's just so many! We have bought quite a few Star Wars, Super Heroes, and Monster Fighter sets for ourselves in the last year! Now I am beginning to buy sets on sale that I hope to resell for profit. My firs…

Hi all, 39 year-old lego fan - been reselling in my spare time for 4-5 years, got into it even more 2 years ago when I registered as a business on ebay uk. Been browsing the forum for a while so hopefully now I can contribute a bit as well Mainly flip new sets quite quickly and then regret it when they keep climbing (Xmas 2012 sold a lot of POTC ships, Diagon Alleys and HP Castles. ) Current stock is mainly 8038, 8097, 10220, 7868, 7877, 7869, 10212, 7937, 9468,10219 + a couple each of current modulars - and I got a bit of a thing about SW battlepacks don't know why but they seem a no-brainer. Wait long enough in uk and they can be got for around

Hi, I came across brickpicker when I was searching something on google. I love brickfoilo. :-) I am a stay at home mom with 2 young kids. What made me start realizing the value of lego is when I saw how much the duplo dino sets my sons own worth (if new in box), and I bought them 50% off clearance from the lego store. I wonder why I did not buy more then? one of my kids is autistic, and has low muscle tone, who could not even cut play-doh, had trouble writing that his teachers gave up on him when he was in kindergarten, and taught him how to use keyboard instead. Then he got his first set of Hero Factory, a stormer 3.0. It was very hard for him to put t…

This is an awesome website. Thanks to the genius' who came up with the idea! I have not paid any attention to lego's since I was a kid. I was on a weeklong vacation in NYC last week and happened to stumble into the Lego store in Rockefeller Center where I saw the Architecture series and fell in love right away. Toy's R Us in Times Square was running a special on Lego's priced at over $75 last week. In the last 5 days I've bought- Fallingwater (x2) Imperial Hotel (x2) Robie House and the VW Camper and I'm already eyeing the Modulars pretty hard. I think all of them would make a terrific display. I'm hooked pretty badly already. Just wanted to say hi.

So I just realized that my son's savings account with @$375 was earning a measly $0.03 per year and I just knew I could find something better to invest his little bit of money in. I thought i would look for a stock that he would enjoy owning and immediately thought of LEGO since he and I are both big fans. Well as most of you already know, LEGO is privately held and you can't buy their stock, but in my search I came across the brickpicker info and now I believe I have a fun way for my son to learn about investing, buying low and selling high, factoring in overhead fees and all those things that he would do in the stock market one day. Any easy tips you all feel like…

Hello from Kansas City. I have bought too many Legos lately and have built some pretty amazing sets, but I have had to slow down on my habitual buying. as I try and curb the addiction I've been surfin around the net for anything related to deals and others speculation on good sets to buy. And now I'm hooked on this site. Should there be a Legomaniacs annonymous? I made it through the dark days with most of my childhood sets close to intact, but seriously dusty. I really got into the technic genre when they started making panels and flexible tubes. I thought 1,000 pieces was a big set, and then, yep, you know the set I'm talking bout. Anyways I've be…

Hi, obviously I'm new to this site. I have some complete, used, sets that I am considering selling and I was wondering if I would be better off selling them assembled or disassembled. The sets are very clean and showing them assembled really highlights it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello everybody ! My name is Joe and I have been collecting lego for about 4 years now. Like many of you, I had lego growing up as a kid. As I got older I lost more interest and then my box mysteriously disappeared. It wasn't until I became a single father of 3 that lego became a excuse to buy. I searched cl on the daily and yes hourly....we know we all do it, looking for a lego collection. Bought a few mix boxes and collections. I learned to sell online, then kept what I liked and sold what I didn't. Helped generate more funds for new sets and even occasional fun money. With my boys helping out with sorting/building we now have an entire room dedicated to lego. I have en…

I was actually quite surprised when I heard about Brickpicker not too long ago. The tips for investing and collecting here are unfathomably useful so I'm glad to know that I can start saving a bit of money to fund my old favorite hobby. Like most, I've had a LEGO background since my toddler years - similar to my older and younger brother. Since all three of us work together collecting what we can before they get off store shelves, I suppose you can say that my bros. and I share a lot. However, only these past few years have I really been purchasing LEGO sets and parts off Bricklink. So Brickpicker shall be the guide just for that!

I've always enjoyed Lego, and I have some great memories playing with them as a kid. However, as so many others have said, you grow out of them... at least for a while. I have a daughter now, and she really loves Lego Friends. On a recent trip, I thought it'd be fun to pick up one of the Star Wars kits. Well, to make a long story short, that was the start of the slippery slope. I've now built up a collection of 19 Star Wars sets, both to collect and as investments. I've involved my wife as well. She loves Minifigs, and has already complete sets of two series. This has become a family hobby; and isn't that the best way to go about this? As investments go, I'm very ne…
