  1. Hi Guys, Just another Aussie from the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne! Was into Lego when i was young, and recently caught the Lego bug and now am addicted again. Have been trying to get into Rare pieces and now learning about Lego investing. I have started with some Super Heros sets and Star Wars Sets. Was lucky to get myself one of the SS sets during the recent TRU sale. Into collecting polybags as well. Hope to speak to you guys more and talk Lego! Cheers

Hello Everyone, I found this site a few weeks ago after learning about some of the newer Star Wars sets. I started to research the secondary lego market, and was really blown away. There is so much to research! I'll be collecting and selling some, but hopefully I can make this hobby pay for (some) of itself. Also, I wanted to say thanks to all of those who contribute posts, it is super helpful for new members like me.

Hi All, I thought it was time to emerge from the shadows and stop lurking. I have been a Brick Picker member for a while, but only started actively reading the Forum a few weeks back. I live in the Easter suburbs of Melbourne, and consider myself a Lego hobbyist. Trying not to become a Lego collector (I already collect books, and really don't have the room for Lego), or investor, though I my dabble a little utilising the good advice from the members here. My Lego history stems from a childhood filled with Lego, but then several years without it. I picked up some of the earlier Star Wars UCS sets to build and display, and occasionally grabbed new ones her…

Hi, I'm a 33 years young croatian living in Germany and just finnishing my PhD. I especially like the golden era castle sets (1984-1992) and also some old pirate and space sets. I have a thing for old yellow boxes. Castle fantasy era figures are also ok, as are Kingdoms, I'm not sure about the new Castle. Current interests are LOTR/Hobbit sets.

Hi everyone, my name is Brook and I am 38 living in Wisconsin. I would like to relate a story about how I started collecting legos for investing. Six years ago, my two sons were 8 and 6 and my oldest was just getting into Star Wars and legos. What better way to relive my young lego days than you buy him a whole storm trooper army. I loved the battle pack idea, so I bought 20 from lego and started to give him one on each day of the twelve days of Christmas. My plan derailed on the second day when he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, "Dad, I already have this." After 3 years, the box of the 18 remaining Storm Trooper Battle Packs sat in the basem…

Hey everybody. I just moved to Tucson, AZ from Las Vegas. I'm prior military and have been all over the world (I assembled an X-Wing in Iraq and an Imperial Shuttle in Northwestern Africa). I never really thought of Legos as an investment. That is until I decided to put my 10174 and my 10175 up for auction on the bay. I paid less than a hundred bucks for each set and unbelievably both sets sold for over, WAY over retail.....and that was with no box!!! The AT-ST sold for a buck fifty and the Tie went for 250. As awesome as that was for me it was less awesome to see what they were going for still boxed lol. Anyways, I LOVE Legos and would love to collect and build as many…

Hey, Been lurking on here and have learned a ton in a couple weeks. Thought I should say Hi and thank everyone for the free sharing of knowledge. I currently sell on ebay, Amazon, and Rakuten and have been looking to add some lego to my stores. Just have to resist from cracking in to all of the boxes.

  11. Awesome site!!!! There are so many great contributions and so much really good information. I have a few questions? My lingo is not quite up to scratch, but bear with me. Why don't Lego investors (or a group of them) buy directly from Lego? Would that not be cheaper? Is there a way on this site to compare the sets that have appreciated the most over the years from best on down? It is fine to see what is doing well over the last month, but is there a way to see how sets have performed for the past five years, ten years? And to do this in such a way that you can see the best and worst performers. What mistakes did you make when you started investing …

Just want to say that I think this is a great website and that there is a lot of great information here. There seem to be many people whose opinions I respect and value. That being said, a bit of history on me... my first sets when I was a kid growing up were 483 (Alpha 1 Rocket Base), 575 (Coast Guard Station) & 585 (Police Headquarters). I still have the pieces and boxes. ) After I got my first "real" job out of college, the first thing I bought was Lego set 6274 (Caribbean Clipper) and a Chicago Cubs jersey. The pirate ship was supposed to go in my fish tank, but didn't have the heart to put it in. Been collecting off & on ever since. As with e…

Hi everyone, I am newer to Lego investing and collecting. I'd like to say thanks for the great information on this site as well as the great discussions that are in the message boards. I've enjoyed Legos for years but only recently have started buying sets again. I recently took advantage of the LOTR clearance at the Walmart locations near me. I now have Helm's Deep, Mines of Moria, Orc Forge, Attack on Weathertop, Gandalf Arrives, and Urak-hi Army. I bought 2x of a couple of those sets. Now I just need to find some money to pick up a Tower of Orthanic! Thanks again for a great site! Josh

Hi my name is Kit. my dd just go in to the lego Friends. she loves them. I just hate that some of the sets she really wants they dont have any more and they are so much . she loves playing with them. I did think they would be bigger. my son was in to the Harry Potter legos and they seem to be bigger. I could be wrong on that. that has been some time ago. I am hoping to find some cute sets that she will like.

I'm just wondering how many UK folks are reading this forum per day? So please post here if you are in the UK and a Lego investor! If you can also give your city/county, that would be cool. I'm in Cambridge.

  18. This is such a fantastic site with so much useful data and so many knowledgeable members, I've been exploiting it's merits for over a year already and feel that I really should get more involved with sharing and discussion. Nothing too long winded in this introduction suffice to say I'm in the UK, I loved Lego in the 80's, I love it even more now, my collection is just about under control although the wife may disagree. I had some great success with my fair share of Harry Potter castles and POTC ships last year and some epic fails with Ninjago, Spongebob and Cars II sets, it's all part of the game though and I find it as addictive and enjoyable as ever. So th…

However I must say that I have achieved quite a level of enthusiasm in a very short amount of time. Already purchased several sets. Great sight here. Lots of expertise. It's been a great help in my plite to learn more. I have collected diecast for nearly twenty years and I'm sure I have never seen anything as specific as this sight for diecast. Complete grandslam in my opinion. Thanks for making it easier on the new guy. Looking forward to plenty of participation. mrcamb…

I was referred to this forum by a friend who is big into Lego's. I have dabbled in Lego products for several years, selling them on Amazon.com successfully. So much so that I have recently written a book for people new to selling on Amazon called Quick Start to Selling on Amazon. I hope to increase my knowledge of the Lego products through this forum. Knowledge is Power & Profit!

Hey guys Long time lurker here who has finally decided to wet my feet by buying a few investment sets. I only just came out of my dark ages in May and started collecting again and eventually found this site and a few others which really rekindled my passion. It started off with just LOTR/Hobbit and has now grown to include the Modular line and Star Wars sets causing my poor wallet great distress. As an Aussie I have found it hard to find many sets at a price point where i could actually compete so my first investments are 2 of the new 41999 crawler with only a $20 difference in price from US and 2 Tower Bridges which i can't see performing poorly in any situ…
