Seasonal

Discussion for collecting and investing with Seasonal themed sets.

  1. LEGO's 'Seasonal' line of sets come out during various major holidays every year. These include Christmas, Easter and Valentine's Day to name a few. Current LEGO 'Seasonal' listings... Some of the Seasonal sets, like 10216(Winter Village Bakery) and 10222(Winter Village Post Office) have 'appreciation' written all over them if you take into consideration how another discontinued 'Winter' set has appreciated. Winter Toy Shop 10199 The Winter Toy shop is up 52% from MSRP since 2009. Not bad. Maybe these other 'Winter' sets will follow the same course.

I went to the Lego store in Bellevue Square (Bellevue, WA) today and they had just set out the new advent calendars. It was $29.99. I bought one, and also got the free Lego Friends add-on promotion. Mez

I'm not too familiar with these wall pieces. Are these used in a lot of city or creator sets? They look pretty cool and I'm just trying to calculate any factors that would make this promo more valuable than train promo. Thanks.

Definitely getting a couple of this love set. Any thoughts on whether this could be sought after around Valentine 2015?

If any of you have seen 40053 (Easter Bunny) seasonal polybags, please post where you saw it (Walmart, Target, etc). We have always looked at LEGO aisles in the stores we visit and also seasonal sections and have never seen those.

Although the real name is unknown, it is believed this will be the promotional polybag given out around Valentine's Day in February.

Promobricks.de has their review online: https://www.promobricks.de/lego-40291-creative-storybook-hans-christian-andersen-im-review/61256 The booklet includes suggestions for additional fairy tales displays, though those pieces nor instructions are not included: I think this is a brilliant absolutely MUST HAVE promo and I am guessing it will 'sell out' very quickly!

Found these while browsing today. Wonder if they'll be as popular as the Halloween versions. Sure are cute, although I'm not a fan of the stickers. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/snowman-reindeer-duo-854050

I have an option of buying multiple sets of Winter VIllage Bakery for 59 EUR - 77 USD. I am just starting out as an investor. Is there any potential worth in this, either as in immediate resell or future investment?

A news post on The Brick Fan shows and confirms this unique set based around the Chinese Zodiac, or more specifically "The Year of the Snake" which 2013 will be. There is the question of whether it will be exclusive to China or not. Regardless, I think this is a pretty nice niche set. LEGO Creator "Year of the Snake" (10250) - The Brick Fan Download building instructions here. Deleted the other two lower quality images and replaced them with this much better one from motayan's flickr gallery. In the bottom right corner, you can clearly see the three designs from the "Prehistoric Hunters" set will be included in this one for a total of four. The "Special Edition 2013" i…

I bought 5 or 6 of the Holiday Bauble 853345 (gold bricks) on clearance a few months back... can't recall what I paid... $2 or $3 each? Have had them on Amazon FBM ever since at the lowest price ($11.90 shipped) and have not sold a single one (despite this being the cheapest Lego ornament I found in a quick search). I was just thinking about opening them up and parting out the bricks. Interesting... the tag says "43 pcs"... I now learned that means 40 bricks + 2 ornament halves + 1 gold ribbon. Doing a little more research, I see that a few are selling on eBay around $10 each... maybe I'll just do that. One other idea... part out the bricks, and sell the empty bauble…

A seemingly credible source on EB says that the 2016 Winter Village Seasonal set will be a new Christmas Train. We haven't had a decent real train in a while, and with last year's rehash set there are Winter Village collectors eager for something new. If they do this set well, it will be an investment winner due to the double category demand. If you are still hanging onto 10173's you may want to sell off any stock before the official announcement and pictures.
