I'm an inexperienced seller and, after checking some prices on Bricklink, there's something I don't quite understand. Why would someone pay almost double for a set when the cheapest option (~70

I've been seeing tons of epic builds on here, so lets have LegoMania. I'll start off with some awsome build, and then you can try and trump it. This picture right here is from Cosi science center in Cincinnati. (Sorry for the photo being fuzzy, it's a crappy camera) After a while I'll put a poll on here so people can vote for their favorite, and will decide the winner that way. I'm really looking foward to seeing some really epic builds. They're will be voting later on, so make sure to keep checking back here to be a part of that.

Does anybody else feel this way? I have been thinking about this, and it is doing some odd things to the shelf life of some good sets. It seems like the shelf life for a lot of things is down to only about 9 months. For example: The 6869 Quinjet is only about 9 months old, but is being clearanced out at many Walmarts. It is already deleted from the site entirely. Same thing with the Ghost Train, 9 months old and on its way out. Half of Monster Fighters has already been clearanced at a lot of Targets, and so has some LOTR stuff from the first wave. The Batcave 6860 is a year old, but it is also being phased out at Walmart. Just off the top of my head, I th…

The more I see what is happening, the more it reminds me of the baseball card phenomenon of the mid to late 80's. For those that weren't around for the baseball card crash, here's a quick synopsis. Cards started gaining a tremendous resurgence around 1984. People started jumping in around this time that had no interest in it before. The markets got so large, and card companies so greedy, the amount of production skyrocketed in the late 80's and early 90's, to the point there was too much to choose from, and nothing was hard to find. Oversaturation killed the market. I see the same thing happening right now. There has always been interes…

the majority of participants in the forum are from US and when they're talking about the attractiveness of a theme, they referred it to the US market but there is a big difference, for a set/theme, depending on the country? what are the themes not so strong in europe as they are in US?

I think most of the seasoned investors have a "plan" and generally stick to it. Just curious what people plan on for the seasonal flips and QFs. Example, I sold a few MMs in that nice QF window, but I'm now sitting on 8 or 9 hoping they get rare at xmas time. If they dont spike again (very likely) I don't really want to sit on them for a few years as they were mostly bought with only minor discounts. I consider this gambing, don't have the personality to return them all to stores. I think these are different than other QF sets (I don't mind if something like SW doesn't spike, it will eventually)

Thought it might be a good time to revive this topic as we have seen a number of changes in the last two years and likely will going forward. Hi all, New member. First time poster. My 9yo daughter is quite fond of LEGO. I recently realised that she really enjoys playing with the LEGO afterwards. This got me to try and introduce her to free building which she's been thoroughly enjoying so far, making an Animal Crossing based island. With that in mind, I'd like her to have more LEGO to work with. She currently has a metric tonne of FRIENDS based LEGO so that's what she's working with. I guess I'm looking for a few tips/pointers please: What's the best way to start someone in freebuild and how can I support her? Are there specifics sets/boxes/block packages that I can buy her …

I guess people actually build these LEGO things, never heard of the concept myself lol

So when I hopefully sell many sets I know there are some I’ll want to keep sealed in boxes. At same time I’d like to store these keepers in a fairly presentable cabinet/shelf in my home. Any recommendations? Sets I’ll keep will be: (size) SSD, Death Star, Slave 1,Simpsons House, Tie Fighter UCS, Red 5, R2D2 etc 1 of each In same cabinet I’d probably display boxed Star Wars Black Series & original unboxed Star Wars 3.75 figures and about 5 ships like Millenium Falcon,AT-AT Can be IKEA. Want to get correct shelf dimensions including depth thanks

I've acquired a Super Star Destroyer 10221 and prepping it for resale. A couple of questions 1. I don't have the box, would spending $40 on a box help it to sell quicker, and would I recoup the $40? 2. How should I package the disassembled pieces (I've accounted for them all). By color. size, in order they appear in the book?

This is a show I recorded from my BBC channel I have on my cable provider and found it on Youtube. It's a pretty interesting story on building a real house out of 3 million LEGO bricks. I thought some of you might find it interesting to watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR2YqMrS_pM

So in the past two days I have grabbed a couple of nice Ebay deals. Want to get some ideas on what to do with them - flip or hold. 1. Bought sealed 2404 Ninjaco Spinjitzu Dojo for $45. BP value is $75 If I sell there, probably make 10$, maybe a bit more after fees. If I hold - it has grown 35% in the last year, 17% over the last 6 months. So if I hold for the next two years and it stays around 20% CAGR, I am looking at $108ish value, and could make $45 or so. I don't know that it will ever get that high though 2. Bought Destinys Bounty NInjaco 9446 for $105, sealed and mint. Current BP value is $137. Checking Ebay, 7 out of last 10 have gone over $…

I recently got 2 boxes that had a slight creases on the edge of the box, nothing too serious. I attached the two pictures, tell me what you guys think and if it is worth it for me to try to swap them out at the lego store. (For reselling purposes btw) Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, does Lego have their own event to show off new sets coming out for the year? Or do they typically show the new stuff off at Toy Fair?

Am i missing something? This is a 20.00 set and doubt it will ever reach that price, even after 100 years in the aftermarket.

I'm not even sure if I will sell these, but I have the following sets that my parents picked up at a flea market 30 years ago. Who knew they invested in Lego long before me. Anyway these are new in box still, of course there is some shelf wear but curious what some of you would price these at. Set 948 - Go-kart Set 955 - Mobile Crane Thanks for your suggestions

It is a little funny to me that some people are suprised that the market gets oversaturated with sets that everyone thinks will be investment winners. It has been said numerous times that gone are the days of seeing HUGE returns. Of course when a set is being talked about on this and other sites as having great investment potential or EOLing soon, all of us are gonna run out and buy 1.......or 50. I got into this as some of you did knowing that there are really no more secrets in this "bussiness". The Death Star (and in my opinion the soon to be Grand Emporuim) situation is what it is! I still have both sets because I think they are cool but not expecting much in the shor…

I've kicked myself over these two and I bet others have too. With the attention both these sets get I thought they should get a poll on which one to get. Both these sets are $40, both are exclusives to a store and both are in a well known and popular theme. So which one do you like as an investment?
