SInce 2016 I have been investing in Lego and have built up quite an inventory. Due to many sets becoming really valuable right now, I started selling off about half of my inventory. Most of my Lego is stored in a large storage company with a fence that has a code, a door that has a code and my boxes have good locks. This local storage company has a good reputation, so I expected my stuff to be safe. I'm pretty cautious, so I had my Lego in several units far apart in the building, so thiefs would not accidentally stumble upon my whole collection. They did however find one box... This Wednesday, I went to the company and took some boxes on a cart to the elevator t…

Just curious about the diversity of the LEGO sets we all own here that are our own personal collection and that are for investment. (if you only do Minifigures or MOC's include those in our discussion) Including my 4 children (somehow they mixed up my sets with theirs - the little boogers) we personally have to total of approx. 60 sets. Mostly Star Wars, Ninjago and Friends with a mixture of City. Investing wise I rotate from 250 to 300 sealed and loose sets. It depends on what is moving at the time. I have mostly Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, Ninjago, City, Super Heroes, CMF's and Modulars. (with a splatter of a few other themes here and there) By far I …

  4. Greetings Brick-brothers and sisters! In my job as a US DoD civilian, I have the privileged of traveling the world. Everywhere I go, I am always on the lookout for our favorite plastic crack in the hope that I can find some hard to find sets at a good price that won't be prohibitively expensive to ship back home. I am currently deployed to the small country of Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf. I don't know if we have many members from the Middle East or South West Asia but I'd love to here from you. Children here obviously have toys but the working/service class is huge and the income gap, much like most of the Middle East, is vast. Bahrain's location relativ…

  5. So yesterday I hit my local target and picked up some Super Heroes sets under the discount stacking for 35% off. Scored some descent stuff including a Batwing. Well in a corner of the toy section I found a Superman Vs Power armour lex set marked repackage and it had been re-taped. Since it worked out to like 10 bucks I figured it was a good candidate for parting out. I did prepare myself for the gamble that it quite possibly could be incomplete. But hey worth a shot right? Cracked it open tonight and well...wow. No instructions, no minifigs. A re-taped bag, an open bag and one sealed bag....all of which appear to be from different sets. So I am curious w…

Bennylee just shared something great with us. A small story that started with a sad loss but ended with something that made at least myself smile. And he gave me a great idea. I wonder who has the greatest connection to LEGO past. So how about a little competition to see who are the greatest fans of those little plastic bricks. We are refering to their collection, not investment sets. We are looking for 3 categories: Who owns the oldest complete set. Who owns the oldest set MISB or close to mint. Who owns the oldest set closest to their year of birth. You must have a complete set, manuals included but you are not required to have the box. Photos required if yo…

I was at an Office Depot the other day and happened to peruse through the whole store and came across storage containers by Really Useful Boxes. Hadn't seem theem before. They are high quality bin type storage with lids and handles in all shapes and sizes and several colors. I mean all shapes and sizes....Office files, shoes, cd/dvds, LPs, down to button collection. I mean they had a nice assortment. I immediately thought wow, I miss the days of big plastic containers with all my loose LEGO. Shifting LEGO around to find the piece you need. Also I have a new baby in the house, and I have been wanting to put LEGO out of site for a couple years. So I am in the market f…

Does anyone else fill out the online survey for shopping at the Lego store? I always do it out of courtesy, even though it's kind of pointless. I wish Lego would offer a few VIP points for customers that complete the survey.

Many thought the China region sets were pretty fantastic...and hopeful that the sets would eventually be released worldwide (this could still happen); and in the mean-time the sets have been popping up in the US (some Independent Brick stores and ofcourse Ebay) ranging from $150-$200 (relatively modest gains given shipping). That said...many believed that these sets would get a big run-up leading into Chinese New Years (this past Tue). That did not happen. I am wondering why...great sets...global popularity...and global holiday lead-up (that often includes gifts/red envelopes) [hoping this thread captures for prosterity some of the mis-judged expectations..…

Hello! I haven't been on this site for about 4 years...but back in late 2017 I was able to add all my lego sets to "my collection" on this site...but now I can't find "my collection" or the value part of the site. Was this removed or am I just not finding it? thank you

Here´s a list to build on in order to sum up the most important events in the market and on the forum this year. Feel free to add any I missed. It´s in no particular order. UCS Falcon and Saturn V release and supply drama. Lego Group poorer financial results and change of CEO / laying off of staff. @TabbyBoy returning to the game (and leaving and returning). New themes such as Brickheadz, Pirates of the Caribbean (return), Super Hero Girls. Continued trend to wards bigger and more expensive D2C sets. Amazon gating and increase in scams. Facebook Marketplace consolidation. Chinese clone consolidation with paid MOC designs, …

  16. Ok guys, I have a trip to Hawaii in October that I want to make a bit of extra dough for. If I gave you a budget of $500-600 and you had to make it all back by then where would you put your money? I am not sure if the LotR sets will appreciate that quickly. But hey that's the question. I am leaning toward a bunch of Mines of Morias, but want your opinions.

  17. Finally getting around to setting up my bricklink store. I just set up my ebay store which I got an EIN for that I couldn't use :( and I am now setting up my bricklink store. I ended up making a separate buyer account so now I have one only for selling and one for buying. Setting up my seller account is not as smooth as I thought. I will mainly start selling sets and minifigs. Not going to jump into pieces yet. The shipping part is a pain in the butt. How do you have your shipping set up? Do I just start with invoice only for my shipping methods? I was going to start with selling sets which can be quite heavy. One of the first sets I plan on selling is the large…

Has anyone around here tried to build a LEGO set by buying the individual parts from LEGO and Bricklink? I was thinking about doing this for one of the no longer produced sets, but wanted to know if it is cheaper or more convenient than just paying the higher prices the actual sets usually require.

My investment plan seemed to have been straight forward until this weekend where I ran into snag. I buy Lego new in box for long time hold investment and I buy bulk lots for the entertainment of building. Here's where the waters get muddied. I bought 2 boxes of bulk Lego and found the Black Pearl. No sails, and no instructions, but sealed bags and the ship parts. Not sure If I have all of the bags. Here is the question. Do I open them? What would you do?

So this was my 2nd trip to Legoland (Ca), but I didn;t get a chance to go in the last time. We also did Brick O Treat, BTW, which was lame. Initially it felt like Nirvana from an AFol perspective in terms of seeing all the sets on shelves with many of new premier sets on display. But once i started seeing the prices it was more of a meh from a reseller's perspective...I didn't want to get in trouble so I purposely did not bring my wallet...once the boy heard that he spent most of his time reading LEGO books. I mainly focused on trying to see what TOOS sets I could find and really the only one that caught my eye was UCS Hulkbuster. Saw plenty of BHz LAdy Libert…

  22. I did a forum search on this topic and found around 6 threads. All were read and it seems like Gollum uses shipto.com. Anyway... I have a buyer from bricklink purchase 6 sets from me (nice $ amount) and used shipto.com's "11407 SW Amu St., Tualatin, OR 97062" address with his unique "H" ID. Any of my fellow US sellers ever encounter problems with shipping (what seems to be an international order) to this forwarding company as long as the paypal address is verified / confirmed? I'm about to invoice this buyer now using paypal.

  24. Undergoing a corporate relocation at the end of the month. For anyone that's moved their collection, can you weigh in on what else I need to do? What I've done... - Worked with moving company to approve moving a high value collection. (Most say they will not move any type of "collection".) - Provided instructions in person to moving consultant on how to safely move the items. (E.g. double box, stack vertically, pick-up with two hands). I will also have detailed instructions on walls for movers to see. And I can be there to monitor. - Took pictures of everything. - Filled out the movers "High Value Inventory" sheet so that they have to sign…

Hello, Apologies if this is elsewhere, but I was curious how people sort and store mini figures. Both for your personal collections and also when you have them up and listed for sale. Do you bag each one individually and place those bags in plastic bins? That seems to be the most practical solution. Most of the jewelry boxes with dividers don't seem to fit mini figures in bags too well though. Any photos would be helpful too! Love hearing each person's strategies that work for them! Thanks!
