  1. Started by legopocalypse,

I invest a lot in sealed sets but also have a used collection that I build for display. But I noticed before I got into Lego I was thinner, exercising more at the gym, etc. Now after several months of building Lego I've spent less time hitting the gym and more time building Lego and have gained some weight. Lego is so fun to build and addictive that I find myself a few hours each day/night building sets instead of exercising. In fact the only time it seems I'm getting any exercise now is walking down the Lego toy aisles. :-) Has this happened to anyone else or just me?

  3. Hey guys/gals, We took some photos of my son when he was 2 weeks old (now 9 weeks) and entered him into a contest. I was hoping I could get some help voting from the BP community. I would be eternally grateful! Here's the link: http://www.parents.com/photos/cutekid/2013-04-22/x9zs?esrc=nwphotofaves3 Also, if you want to go the extra mile, feel free to share on Facebook when you're done ;-). It gives you an easy link to do so when you vote! Thanks guys, it would mean a lot to his college fund this early in the game! Regards, Cody EDIT: figured I would share his name at least. Benjamin James Lewis. Thanks everyone! 2nd EDIT: the answer to vote is "…

What weird retail stores/websites do you find/buy legos? Obviously everyone know the typical places to look for in the U.S. I'm mostly wondering if there are any local places that I haven't thought to look for deal.

does anyone own any good non kiddi lego shirts or any really coolones that you have seen? theres a few standouts on ebay.

  6. OK, this is not totally my original idea. I got from Knorbika on the Who is over 30 thread and thought it deserved its own thread. http://www.brickpicker.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/3404/P60/#35592 So.... What was your first ever Lego set? And do you still have it? Mine was 673 I got on Christmas 79 I think. I only have about 3 original pieces left so I hunted out a pristine version from eBay. If you want to add pictures, I got mine from Brickset.com

Simple question, who else on here is over 30? I see a ton of posts that reference to being born in the 80's... I was born in 1977, and I am currently 35 (still act 5).

  9. I stopped at a couple of Mom and Pop's "traditional" style toy stores last week while patrolling WalMarts for clearance, and noticed that neither sold Lego of any sort. The first one didn't even sell anything really comparable except craploads of Playmobil and the second store actually sold some extremely generic knock-offs that looked worse than mega bloks. Has Lego's licensing of pop culture franchises and films caused these dealers to step away because the product is too "commercial" to be sold in their stores now? If that was the case, why don't they just sell the modulars, the Creator line, or the architecture sets? Why dismiss Lego completely for knock-off brick…

  10. Hey BP guys and gals, I am in a small pickle with my 8089 set for my kiddo. We got this set and when we opened it up we were missing the left horn for the wampa figure. I have contacted TLG customer service and they would be glad to replace it. Unfortunately, they need a number on the back of our manual... and its already been misplaced. I offered to send them a copy of my receipt or something from the box, but that's a no go. I was really hoping someone could help me out if they have an extra manual lying around. Otherwise I'll have to pay for another one on bricklink. I would be grateful if someone could message me and help us out. Nothing fishy here I just need t…

Just want to make sure all my peeps down here in Texas are alright. I know Jeff just closed a forum like this. But just worried a bit. Thoughts and prayers with West, Texas.

  13. The answer is 37,112 times! A man built a contraption to test how many times two bricks could connect until they stopped connecting. It took him 10 days before they stopped connecting to each other. Link. This guy should now figure out how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop. 14. Anyone else noticed the dozens of petcare software cds listed in the building toys category? They are all misspelled, and teach you useful things such as how to care for your eagle's talons. Apparently the seller will send you a random disc for the low price of 225 dollars. Buy while you can, the Lego store employees say they will be eol soon.

We added this Miscellaneous Forum Category so that Brickpicker Members can post any sort of question or interesting topic. LEGO topics are preferable, but not necessary, as long as they are interesting and of value to other members. Also, no spam or obscene posts. Feel free to post MOCs, LEGO collection pictures, general LEGO questions about building, colors, pieces...whatever. Thanks... Ed Mack

Today, for the first time, I got to see LEGO products at an actual LEGO store! I have always bought at other retailers due to the proximity of the store. The wife agreed to make a road trip with me today. I had no idea that everything was supposed to be that organized and in stock. She pointed out that her favorite set was the VW bus. I told her that if I could ever actually part with the monetary resale side of things, that was the set I wanted to build. SOLD! She is so incredible ( that and she still owed me a birthday present). Manager advised me that they will have the Cinema in store on the 14th for purchase by VIP members. Some other things he mentioned (as if he…

This is on an unrelated note, but there was a bombing at the Boston Marathon. 2 dead, over 50 injured. My Cross Country and Track and Field coach was running it. Thank God he came out in one piece. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/16/us/explosions-reported-at-site-of-boston-marathon.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 Didn't actually realize the bombing until I received an email from my coach that he was all right. Any Bostoners? All of these bombings and school killings within the United States makes me sad...Not trying to put it lightly, but it's hard to talk about the taking of human life. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/15/us-athletics-marathon-boston-bla…

Hi. I have been looking at the TIE Intercepter, Set 7181, and the market value, according to BP, if I understand it correctly is about $375 new and $150 used. However, when I got to Amazon to buy it, the selling price is $799, and when I go to e-bay, the lowest value is $500. My question is: Where does BP get there values from, and what good is their evaluations if you can not get it for that price? This is NOT a criticism.....I am a newbie here and am just trying to learn how to buy, what to buy, when to buy and what price to pay. Grandpa

Ok, so I bought a Golden Dragon from Walmarts site to store along with a bunch of other sets back in January. Problem is the GD came in a freaking bubble mailer while everything else was shipped in boxes. Well guess what the GD box was damaged... not insignificantly either. I meant to return it, but got lazy and forgot. So my question is would it be unethical to buy a new one mint from Walmart and return the one they carelessly shipped with that receipt? Im torn.

Hi! Most of my Lego sets come from Target, Walmart, or the older sets, from ebay. This May, Lego is introducing a new version of the Star Wars X-Wing Fighter. According to the Lego site, the MSRP for this will be $199.00 Some ebay vendors are actually pre-selling it at $249.00? Now comes the question. I obviously want this new model, but do I pay the MSRP of $199.00, thereby getting it quickly (it is to be a Christmas present for my grandson), or do I wait a while and hope for a sale at Target, Walmart, etc. What has been your experience when Lego introduces a new model? This will actually be the first time that I care about such an event? Grandpa

Hi guys, Not sure if any of you remember, but there was a "Build a Better Piggy Bank" Contest on FutureAdvisor Blog, so I made an entry. If possible, please vote for mine. You need to have a Facebook account in order to vote. Mine is made out of Legos and is under the name Jacob Wu, which is my name. As you all know, I am really into Legos, as is everyone else here on BrickPicker. If I were to win any of the prizes, which are 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and Staff Pick, I would use it to expand my pretty meager Lego collection. Now you know that I have a good cause, and a purpose! What are you waiting for! VOTE NOW! Instructions: 1. Click on my name. 2. Opens a Fa…
