Think I didn't see any similar topic, just posts here and there. Seems like many people came back to LEGO when they became parents. I understand many teens are interested in LEGO as an investment, so it's not about that I'm curious what do your kids (friends, relatives) PLAY with or assemble and proudly display mostly? How early they started showing interest in LEGO, what is their favorite theme and how it became favorite among all of themes? Let me put it down as a little questionnaire: 1. male or female; 2. age; 3. theme or themes (or a set); 4. why? 5. you feel it's gonna be a long-lasting-love or just a short term interest in LEGO?

Anybody here often catch saying to themselves "ahhhhh I'm not going to make THAT much profit off this set anyways so let's open it and build it for myself!" ....Because I'm starting to think this way a LOT.. >_>

Received my first ever shipment from yoyo.com today. This is the box that arrived, pretty sizeable. What could be in it? Perhaps a couple Jabba's Sail Barges? Dolphin Cruisers? Lots of packing material, that's a good sign. Nope, just a few baseplates. I just thought it was kind of comical and wanted to share. I ordered a handful of these baseplates over the weekend and was surprised to see a 3 foot wide box sitting on my porch when I got home from work yesterday. Better to be overpackaged than the other way around. I think we can safely assume you won't be getting any pancakes from yoyo!

Well since I go to the Movie 2 times a week a figure I would give you my 2 cent review on what I see, So here we go. Well looks like the critics are Split on Brad Pitt's World War Z Movie, Well we just got back from the Midnight Show. Well The Action starts in the first 10 Minutes and it really never let's up. The First 2/3 of the movie was the best, then it slacks off a little. For a PG-13 Zombie Movie it was good, Brad Pitt was great and the rest of the cast was also great. Plenty of Zombies, lots of Violence and Killing, and the way it ended it seems like a Part 2 could happen. So Great Popcorn Movie. Score 8/10 and the 400 seat theater was full and people clapped and…

Given that it's February and Valentine's Day is but a week away, I believe that it's time to bring up The Talk (About your LEGO hobby). For those of us who were not blessed with beloved partners who loved LEGO just as much as we did, how did you talk to your SO about the wonders of the plastic brick, especially if they were skeptical, hostile, or had no idea that you have so many mini-figures hidden everywhere? Any other sagely advice is welcome as well.

The rosters were announced on Saturday. I'm an A's fan, so seeing Bartolo as the only A's player selected ticked me off a bit. Balfour should've gone, Donaldson could also have been selected but there are bigger names - not stats - on the AL roster. I know that Ed is a Yankee fan, anyone else here follows MLB? How did your team fare?

Have you always wanted to organize your LEGO collection, but didn't know how to get started? Or, maybe you've already sorted your LEGO, but it's hard to find which box, bin or drawer has the part you need? I'm excited to share a massive update to the LEGO Brick Labels collection to include most of the bricks in a typical AFOL LEGO collection.Sample showing crisp images and a clear description of each LEGO Element. This updated collection includes 500 different labels organized into the following groups: Basic Elements (bricks, plates, tiles), SNOT Elements, Slopes, Wedges, Round, Curved, Clips/Hinges. Two additional groups are in “beta” because they aren’t quite complet…

1. The Death Star will live on for another year and be available until at least December. 2. The Architecture Studio will return (too simple to make; white pieces and a book). 3. Chima will not make the year in being produced, but sets will linger at stores. 4. 2 Modulars will be retired (The Grand Emporium, and likely the pet shop, and possibly the town hall) 5. Helm's Deep will end the year valued just below $200 on eBay (not Amazon). I would like to be wrong about this. 6. May the 4th will bring a deal on the Superstar destroyer, I'm guessing around $300. 7. We will get our first teaser trailer for Star Wars around Christmas. …

I pretty consistently seem to see some Lego deals on slickdeals that make me laugh... Here's another: http://slickdeals.net/f/6916482-lego-city-great-vehicles-camper-van-building-set-60057-for-15-99-it-s-back?src=pdw This deal is getting love somehow over there. Don't get it. SD has seemingly become a place where the force feed deals to pad their pockets. I don't know how many people remember what it was like 6 or 7 years ago... but it has definitely changed.

The Brick Fan is accumulating AFOL feedback for LEGO on their changed Rewards VIP system. I know many of us aren’t fans of the changed program. While there are some cool things about it, the checkout process has been degraded, some folks don't like the new Points to Money Spent formula, etc... Here is the link. Leave comments on his web site. Please leave comments as an AFOL there. LEGO likely doesn’t want to hear reseller-related feedback. https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-taking-feedback-on-lego-vip-program/ note : I also added a simple poll here. Which rewards system do you like better? Old? New? A combo? @tormentalous

Time for another San Diego Comic Con thread. This is for anything and everything Comic Con related - news, giveaways, etc. It can be LEGO-related, pop culture related, something about your favorite TV show or movie. Whatever you want to share and talk about.

So, it's my birthday coming up next month, and I've decided I'd love to get one of the modular buildings from my nearest and dearest - it'll be my first purchase in this range, and to be clear - I am going to build the living daylights out of it! At this stage, it's an absolute toss up between any of the sets currently listed on LEGO Shop at Home... I think they all look amazing so I'm turning to my fellow BrickPickers for some advice! Hit me with your finest - which set should I get to celebrate/commiserate adding another year to those I've already accumulated on this crazy planet?!

I'm in NYC this week for a quick 2-day trip, staying right in the middle of Times Square. I hit the LEGO Store at Rock Center and TRU in Times Square today. Some thoughts: 1. They're both full of idiots that are milling around and generally in everyone's way 2. For those of you who whine about TRU prices, you should see the markup at the LEGO Rock Center store 3. 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse was notoriously missing from both. There wasn't even a place on the shelf where it should have been in either store. That the 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse was MIA could be meaningless, as in DFW we seem to have plenty of these available. I wasn't looking to buy any, because …

The Brick Fan has reported that the Lego company has announced they will not make an appearance at this year's New York Comic-Con because they already held an event earlier in the year with the humongeous X-wing Starfighter and exclusive "New York, I Love" Yoda minifigures to promote The Yoda Chronicles, and spent quite the budget on that. (Thanks goes to TheBrickBlogger for that last detail about why not.) At least this means Lego could very well keep making an appearance at the two Comic-Con events in the future despite backlash from the last San Diego one.

So the gf just got accepted into a Master's program and we only have one laptop in the house, the one I use nearly everyday for my online Bachelor's classes. We haven't bought a computer in about 4-5 years, and don't have alot of experience on what is good to buy. I'm hoping a guru around here could provide suggestions. Here's the specifics to narrow it down a bit: -Don't want to spend more than 400 -Needs to have ability to run windows, MS office, multiple web browsers -Don't need any kind of advanced graphics card -Don't necessarily need disc drive, but need minimum of 300 GB for power point presentations, photos, large PDF files -Itunes wi…

There is a Lego event coming to Minnesota and I wanted to share some information about it. It is called World War Brick. It is an event that focuses on modeling/building of historical and military models using LEGO bricks. Here is more information from the WWB About page. "WORLD WAR BRICK 2013 WWB 2013 is scheduled for the weekend of June 28-30 and will take place at the Brickmania Toyworks in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There will be more than 10,000 square feet made available for activities, displays, collaborations and of course products for sale from Brickmania, BrickArms, GI Brick and others who seek to expand and enrich the building experience." Here is a link to th…

Long story short, I've bought about 75lbs of loose mixed LEGO from a local thrift. I've began sorting out the minifigs and any unique pieces and bricks so I can discern what sets may be in there but it is slow going. I also purchased a box from the same thrift last fall that appears to be a complete Hogwart's with a couple smaller sets mixed in. So far I have found: -Tie Fighter canopy -red "cow catcher" from a train -couple large flat wall mount skulls -the front and rear of a orange/ white jet liner -three small row boats -snap together tank like tracks My question: is it worth it to pull a full set out and sell it or better to sell the whole thing as a …
