A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. Here and there I will try a few new things. Personally I like this, but I want to get some feedback. The activity stream will let you know when people do new things. I disabled a bunch because it would be overkill, but instead of having two spots, one for latest post and one for latest topic, this will just show the order of when things were done. You will see the chronological order in which others have replied as well. There is also a new tab in your menu that says "News Feed" (title will probably change, that is just default). http://community.brickpicker.com/stream.html From this point forward, you will be able to see when new things are posted. If …

Ed and I want to try out a new referral system to give you another way to earn Brickpoints. For any user that is referred to Brickpicker through your referral link and they register, you will receive 250 Brickpoints. We are going to call this a trial to see how it goes. After they register, you will see them in your referral system here: http://community.brickpicker.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=referrals The 250 Brickpoints will be awarded to you once the new member has posted 10 forum posts. We are hoping to get new members that care about LEGO, not a bunch of family signing up to give you points That's why we are saying we are going to tr…

  3. I would just like to make a quick post regarding the asking of us to change your username. We honestly get way too many of these. When you are registering for an online community, you have to realize that at some point your username will be public. There is actually bold red text on the registration form that says your username will be your public profile and no name changes will be made. We are also getting closer to the launch of Brick Classifieds and this is where it really becomes important. I have been building in a lot of security measures to help prevent fake accounts, multiple accounts, etc. We want people who are using the classifieds to feel that they know …

  4. I feel like I'm desecrating the Mack's holy ground writing a thread on Site Questions, but OH WELL! #rebel What is the next Brickpoint incentive for people like stephen? Are you going to remove my thread for posting here? Clear my brickpoints? Deactivate my account? Hunt me down and kill me? ;)

I got notification over the past few days that 2 members have redeemed the points they earned for spreading the word of Brickpicker on the social media sites. We would like to thank debrick81 and segreto for earning enough points to claim their Target and Starbucks gift cards. It is greatly appreciated to help let people know about Brickpicker. This will help all of us as Brick Classifieds is getting much closer to release. Keep up the great work everyone!

Hey guys, I'm always finding myself trying to remember where someone has said they're from while reading discussions in the Wal-Mart/Target Clearance, which vary wildly by region. I think it would be helpful, but I also just find it interesting to know where everyone's from. The US is pretty darn big. I could see people not wanting to provide that information, so making it optional would work. I'm thinking it would be in lieu of the US flag flair so all my fellow Texans would automatically be on board ? (I'm not actually from Texas but I lived there for a few years).

  9. I just added the 41999 crawler to my brickfolio and it said "congratulations you just added $0.00 to your portfolio." Then I added a Creator Sopwith Camel and it said "congratulations you added $115.xx to your portfolio" what's up with that? I would think at minimum for the LE crawler it would have added the current MSRP value to the folio.....

A question for the fantastic staff, why not put some function available to download massively data LEGO sets in TOTAL or divided by the THEME or own BRICKFOLIO ? Maybe as xls file or csv file or simply txt file.... It would be useful for future offline reference, to compare similar but belonging to different years, etc. ... It should have only basic information such as code, theme, year of release, number of pieces, out of production/in production, selling price and current market value.... What about ? All the best.

I am sure this answer is somewhere on the site, but how do I reply to an individuals post in the forum. I click quote, it posts my reply below the last reply in the post, Not within the comment of the post I am responding too. Does this make any sense to anyone? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I have been working on something for a few days. It is a LEGO set compare tool. You will be able to enter in up to six sets. If you feel that I need to add more sets on to compare, I will, not a problem. It will give you side-by-side comparison of the sets which includes the basic set information as well as the value information. I feel this will be a great tool when you are having a hard deciding on what set to buy next, wondering the difference between two or more sets or trying to come up with good pricing to sell sets. Take a look, try it out. Any bugs, report them to me. Any ideas or thoughts on what else would be good to add to it, let me know…

I am not sure if this is helpful to anyone (probably just me), I created this simple page for myself a while back and it helps me get a quick look at the sets on eBay and if there are any good deals. This is nothing fancy at all. If you don't use it, no big deal. For me, I just get a quick overview and I jump through set numbers quickly to see any sets I am interested in. I also use it to see how quickly some sets might be moving each day like the Death Star or these Raptors. Raptor Escape: http://www.brickpicker.com/ebay-search/?set=75920&minprice=38 Death Star: http://www.brickpicker.com/ebay-search/?set=10188&minprice=450 You can even add a &maxprice=60…

I just activated a new feature that we are calling "Brickpicker Promotions" for the forum that will allow members to post Want Ads, Trades and External Sales. It is Free!! When you post an ad, a thread will be created in the current (renamed) Trade forum. Images and descriptions are required for all posts and posts will need to be approved. You can advertise items that you are looking to buy, items you are looking to trade or even items you are trying to sell from external sites like eBay and Amazon. Hopefully you are posting because its a good deal or have a special you would like to offer Brickpicker members. It is a very simple system but can be effective if used …

I just want to make a statement about the Walmart Stock tracker that a lot of you are asking for and spreading the word about. It really doesn't work. The information is not really there to use accurately and not even close to what the Target information provides. Talking with the head of the Walmart Affiliate/Tech group, I asked the question about getting live stock information and here are his quotes. "We do not support that ability yet." Then I asked if it was something that would happen soon... "This will take some time as it is a business decision whether to put the data out or not, not simply a technical matter." The information provided by the a…

  19. I'm able to login in the forums, but as soon as I navigate anywhere else, my login is not recognized. For example, I am unable to view my Brickfolio since the site refuses to recognize any login while trying to view that section of the site. This includes the homepage of the site as well. I can click to log in, it says it's processing the login, and then when it takes me back to the home page I'm still not logged in. However, if I click over to the forums, I'm logged in here. Is anyone else having this problem?

These people take their time to write articles, post pictures, and generally just help OTHER people. For FREE! So stop hitting them with one star. I am sure that they look at it...and it sucks when you spend time doing something for some one else then get hit with a 1-star. Lame. Sorry...end rant. I am also fulling expecting my lame blog to get hit with about 20 1-stars. LOL.

  22. Started by Ed Mack,

In addition to the various LEGO set reviews that we do on the site, Jeff and I will be giving the opportunity to Brickpicker members to add their opinions on each and every set in the database. The review section is something we have tinkered around with for awhile and we are still in the process of developing it. We would like to have your input into what is important to you when you look at a LEGO set review. Right now, it looks like there will be a basic template for you to check off various "bullet points." There will also be a section to add a paragraph or two of text that is your personalized opinion on the set. What we need from you is what you would like to…

  23. Hey all just in case you didn't know how the affiliate program works I just wanted to reiterate what Ed said in a recent topic reply. They get a small commission when someone clicks on one of the links like S @ H.....they aren't making millions but they make enough to keep this site running. I figure since we all here use their great services for free, the least we can can do is click on the link from the store we buy our sets from, its a great way to tell Jeff and Ed thanks for this awesome site they have provided us!

  24. Hi, not sure where the best place is to sort this out. I posted a second blog post on my blog (Scissorino's Brick House) and then after it had been approved I then edited the title. It is now only in draft format and cannot be seen by others. How can this be rectified?

  25. OK, I know I am probably being thick here but I cannot work out how to change my profile picture. On the old system there was a list to choose from, this seems to have gone. but I can see that "clever" people have managed to do it. I have found the upload photo section in the "Profile Settings" section but that seems only to be able upload one of your own photos. I am sure I am missing something simple..... What am I doing wrong? PS I have also looked at the FAQs section...
