Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

I was thinking about this idea, but I'm not sure how hard this would be (maybe it's already here). With all of the Minecraft frenzy going around I thought it would be cool if users could be rewarded by giving useful information such as tip-offs to good deals. Kind of like reddit where you could up vote someone's post. Who know's what you would do with the points, but it could be some forum rep. I know right now we have the bricks next to someone's name. I think that's based on how active they are with in the forums.

  2. Hi, I have imported my sets from the Rebrickable site into My Brickfolio, what works very well. But I see that all sets has got the status "New". Is there a way to set the default status of the set to "used"? Since all my sets are in "used" condition and it is a lot of work to change set per set the status from "new" to "used"... Cheers, Ludo

I wasnt quite sure where this topic belonged so i figured i would post it here. This may be an aweful idea guys so don't hold back on telling me so. What if you list how many other brickpicker.com members own a particular Lego set when you view the details page for that set? Maybe even a percentage would be more helpful to put it in perspective. I was just curious how popular certain sets are with investors here at brickpicker.com. I am sure there is a reason for not listing that info but I wasn't sure.

  5. I would like to bring one new feature of the update to the forefront...The BRICKPICKER MEMBER SET REVIEWS. In the upper right hand corner of the new LEGO Price/Set Guide Page there is a box that is marked REVIEW SCORE. This will be the area where the average for all member reviews is shown. There is a link in the box so that you can review any LEGO set once. Here are the specifics: ***The number shown on the Price/Set Guide page is based on the average score of all BrickPicker member scores. ***The BrickPicker member scores are based on ten different characteristics or qualities that are on a 1 to 10 scale, which is averaged to give a set review total of between 1 an…

Hello fellow and future BrickPicker members. I just want to bring to your attention that Jeff and I have launched the new site upgrade. Included in this major site update is the following: - Currency settings - Share Brickfolio - Custom sets - Performance Enhancements - New Navigation - Importing of sets tells you what sets weren't imported These are just a few of the major improvements made to the Brickpicker site. Jeff has been working for months on this major site update. It will lay the basis for many future ideas and improvements. While this update answers many of the most common issues of the site, it is no…

Anyone know of a resource that lists Exclusive Sets by Retailer? All Wal-Mart exclusives, all Target exclusives, all Toys R Us exclusives, etc.? I recently passed on a City set that was 30% off at Target thinking that I might find it at Wal-Mart or somewhere else and not realizing that it was a Target exclusive. When I went back to get it, of course, it was gone. Possible Brickpicker.com future addition?

Call me crazy, but I noticed that my Brickfolio values changed yesterday, but the home page still says last update was November 16. Or are the updates just in process but not completely done? Sorry just trying to figure out how my Brickfolio value changed if an update hasn't been done yet.

Hi guys, The only way for me to order from Amazon, is to go through Amazon France. Since I live close to the border, I can get whatever I order at Amazon sent to a "drop-and-pick-up" place anywhere in France. Everyday I check out the Amazon discounts for France on Brickpicker but it always says there are no deals available. However, take the Tie Fighter 9492 for instance it's listed at 40,90

  12. Hey all just in case you didn't know how the affiliate program works I just wanted to reiterate what Ed said in a recent topic reply. They get a small commission when someone clicks on one of the links like S @ H.....they aren't making millions but they make enough to keep this site running. I figure since we all here use their great services for free, the least we can can do is click on the link from the store we buy our sets from, its a great way to tell Jeff and Ed thanks for this awesome site they have provided us!

In addition to the various LEGO set reviews that we do on the site, Jeff and I will be giving the opportunity to Brickpicker members to add their opinions on each and every set in the database. The review section is something we have tinkered around with for awhile and we are still in the process of developing it. We would like to have your input into what is important to you when you look at a LEGO set review. Right now, it looks like there will be a basic template for you to check off various "bullet points." There will also be a section to add a paragraph or two of text that is your personalized opinion on the set. What we need from you is what you would like to…

Does anyone know of a way to subscribe via email to the BrickVesting blog and/or the LEGO News feed? I was hoping, since the LEGO news feed has been updated, that someone would add a subscription feature to it. It would make it easier for me to see and read the BrickVesting blog as well. Thanks, Nathan

Is it possible to set up an autologin for the website through the forums. I always forget to login before I browse them so I have to repeat the login process each time I want to add something, can there be an autologin function added through the forum link? *edit - NVM I got it to work through my browers. Keep up the good work!

  17. I don't know how complex of a thing it would be but I would love a real time stock ticker of Lego prices via amazon.com on a websites homepage. It's a random thought, I would imagine people that are more compute savvy would know how difficult it would be to do.

  20. To all BrickPicker members... I just want to bring to your attention(if you are not aware already), that a huge storm is heading towards the middle Atlantic Coast of the United States. The center of the storm is supposed to hit central New Jersey on Monday and remain in the area for days. The storm is supposed to knock down a million trees across the Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York City areas. I would imagine that there will be millions without power for an extended period of time. Jeff and I both live in central New Jersey and it's safe to say that we will be without power as well. The servers for the site are in Texas, so I don't think the site will hav…

Hi... Jeff just added a couple of very useful features to the BRICKFOLIO. A 'search' option was added within the BRICKFOLIO to make it easier and quicker to locate a set. Another improvement is that you can now quickly see your sets from an 'entire theme' by scrolling through the theme selector in the upper right hand corner, instead of having to sift through each page. Also, your 'last set added' is posted above your list. This helps old and confused guys like myself remember what I just inputted into the BRICKFOLIO. We will be adding some more features in the near future. The new numbers for May 2012 will be up shortly. Thanks...Ed Mack

I noticed that the value of my portfolio went down this month after the October update. I understand why, I have a lot of new sets which tend to go down in value before they go up. I am sure that you old hands understand all this, but it is new for me only having been a member for a couple of months. I also noticed that as I bought and added sets after the October update that my portfolio value went from negative to positive. That was my aha moment. In order to keep my portfolio value positive I need to adding sets to my portfolio. Therefore I went out and bought 15 Fangmechs for $19.99. The portfolio change is positive now. Lesson learned, don't stop buying LEG…

We are adding a "Members Only" forum where certain specials and deals will be listed. Also, there will be some "exclusive" new data and charts released to Brickpicker members only. Registration for Brickpicker.com is EASY, FAST and FREE!. Our newest "Member Only" data is the breakdown of the main LEGO themes and their comparative CAGR, or Compound Annual Growth Rate. This is very interesting information and if you are a serious LEGO collector and investor, it is must see data in my opinion. So for LEGO fans who are already Brickpicker members, nothing has changed. You will have access to the entire site. To visitors of Brickpicker.com...Welcome and come join the…

We just created a new Walmart Discounts feed page that will update a few times a day. Right now they seemed pretty cleaned out from the unbelievable sales they just had, but I am sure they will stock up soon. I will be adding the Walmart prices into set pages and other price pages so that you can see more options to buy. I added a filter on the top so that you can just display themes that you might be interested in the most. This is an early draft, we will try it out and see how it all goes. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/walmart.cfm
