This is the first time I've sold a set that I have purchased multiple times at different prices, so I'm wondering if I should calculate the average cost or opt for a method like First In First Out. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I recently discovered the "world" of Lego Investors...before I was only a user I bought several item (monster fighters, ninjago, LoTR, HPotter) and know I need an advice (and an opinion) What should I've to buy between this items? 70503 The golden dragon 9450 Epic dragon battle 10218 Pet shop 9516 Jabba's palace 10211 Grand Emporium 10193 Medieval market 6857 Dinamic duo 10223 Kingdom joust 10225 R2-D2 6860 Batcave And what are the reasons why should I'v to buy one rather than another? Other question: what does "discontinued" means? Thanks a lot... p.s. sorry for "My english" but I'm italian and I don't speak/write english very well

If I needed to make as much as possible selling lego by the 21st of June 2014, what would you recommend I invest in? About $500-$750 on starting money.

Hey All....First things first, Mods please move this to wherever it should live if I've dropped this in the wrong thread.... So yep, the unthinkable has happened. About 2 weeks ago I discovered that most of my LEGO collection has been stolen. About 30-40 large plastic storage tubs (the ones from Walmart) with roughly 400+ BNIB LEGO sets...stolen, no less, from the padlocked attic of my rental property. Damn, it really sucks writing that. And I'll confess straight up... I should have been a lot more vigilant. We moved from our old house in early 2017 and the last I saw of my collection was when I attached the padlock to the attic and told our rental company that…

The following set below are all historical icons/symbols from different country, but why the tower bridge is in different category? Statue of Liberty - Sculpture Eiffel Tower - Sculpture Taj Majal - Sculpture Tower Bridge - Exclusive Reviews foresee that tower bridge might follow the footstep of the previous historical icons, and it seems that tower bridge might be discontinued soon... Any rumors on the next project on this category?

Just thought I would share this about Zulily shutting down. While not my favorite, less choice and competition for buying Lego is always not great and a sad sign of the times. https://www.zulily.com/password

That you can type "sold out" into the search at LEGO Shop at Home and it will give you all the ones sold out. Just tried it today...LoL Saves one from having to go through all the ones you're curious about.

I have a question for the pros here. For the sets that amazon "zombies" or continues to sell for a year or 2 past retirement, are the seal codes still pre retirement? Basically, I am trying to figure out if lego makes one monster batch before retirement for amazon, or do they keep the molds and continuously produce and restock them for amazon over the course of post retirement period. For example if I bought this guy here, would it have 2023 codes on it? IT potentially can affect a buying decision.....

This is a first for me where Amazon asks above retail on anything. Has anyone else seen this? Ship in a Bottle 92177 RRP: $69.99 Amazon: $83.47 In case something happens with the Amazon buy box between when I posted this and someone clicks on the link, I did verify that it is Amazon.com as the seller.

I was just looking at the best discount list and there are sets with large discount percentages but they are not the actual retail prices. The top two on the list right now are the batcave and a friends set, both of which, if you add up the amazon price and the "saved" price, are well over the retail price. Not sure where the mistake is but they are not correct. Happy Building! Brian

I have to admit, I really like buying from Amazon. I have been trying to buy Friends Lego 3189 for 2 weeks when I saw it for $34.00 ($49.99 MSRP). The price has been going up on Amazon ever since. Walmart also had for $34.00, but it was out of stock. I was just able to buy 2 from Amazon for $34.00 (1 hour ago). I just checked it's back up to $44.99, and they only have 2 in stock. CRAZY!! Do any of you have any insight on how to watch/buy from Amazon. I am really starting to build by investing collection, but am doing so by buying sets at what I think is a discount.

I was going to post this in the old Passenger Train thread, but since it is about more than one item, I thought it deserved its own thread. First, the passenger trains and train stations I ordered through amazon.co.uk came via UPS. I was charged brokerage + custom fees. I sent a quick email to customer service, and they immediately refunded me my out of pocket costs. As one corner of one box was a little smushed, they gave me 15% off that set as well. I did have to chat with the UPS guy and write a couple emails, but it was still worth it, especially with CAN. retail (and even sale) prices so high. If UPS delivered your order, I'd make sure to get their customer s…

Just want to say thanks to whoever this user is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-4768-Harry-Potter-Goblet-of-Fire-The-Durmstrang-Ship-Used-/190722622523?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c67f4443b#ht_787wt_1141 Its fun when you are searching through eBay listings and come across one of our BrickPicker set badges. I see they used them on all the LEGO listings. Great job and hope it helps!

I am having a bit trouble deciding how ethical an idea I have is. So I figured why not take advice from an internet forum. Walmart allows you to buy an item at one of their stores and return it to another store. I can buy something in Vermont and return it to a store in Maine. Nothing unethical about doing this as it is their policy. But is it ethical to buy (5) 9472 Attack on Weathertop at one Walmart for $59.99 and return them to a Walmart that is sold out because they clearance them out for $30. Buy them legitimately and keep the receipt. The lower priced Walmart will give back the $59.99 each and then turn around and sell them for $30. Essentially it would…

Seeing how we are well within the year which shall be closing in just a few months, how about a little poll to gauge public opinion on each and every offering for the year of 2013. Notice: All themes listed as well as the questions posed are only for anything released in 2013 with the odd exception of The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey as those sets were released right at the tail end of 2012 at the beginning of December making them more of 2013 sets really. The theme of Creator also covers it's subtheme of Expert, and the two factions in Super Heroes are separate because of the complete diversity each one has. This is a multiple choice poll so you are able to sel…

Right now I have a few garage shelves for storing LEGO. The problem is they are only 16 inches deep so a lot of the bigger sets either hang off a lot, or don't fit between the shelves at all if they are too tall. I've been trying to find some deeper shelves but most of them are quite expensive as they are made from metal and meant to hold thousands of pounds of tools and garage equipment on them. Before I just build my own, has anyone managed to find some cheaper shelves that work well for the majority of sets out there?

As part of trying to assess risks in 'investing' in LEGO, one of my questions is about LEGO quality. Sorry for generalizing, but often the trend for retail products, including toys, is for quality to decrease over time. This is done for various reasons including monetary to maintain or improve sales. My understanding is that LEGO has changed over the years, and I wonder if these changes have made it less good from an investment standpoint. I've read in member forums on sites like brickset.com about quality concerns. Apparently LEGO bricks may be thinner now or made of a less solid material then they used to be. Apparently this may lend to improved 'clutch power…

My wife mentioned that I try selling some sets on a Facebook swap group that she was a part of. I put up a set like I would on Craigslist and got a ton of interest from people. However, almost all of the offers were lowball offers and nothing ever came from it. Has anyone had any luck dealing with these groups and any tips to make it a better experience? Thanks.

As I was checking my just updated Brickfolio, I noticed I surpased the 2,000,000 mark of Lego Bricks. Maybe it's time to sell some of these bricks? Started this hobby about 7 years ago. Or maybe i can build a real house with these(my 5 y.o. son was asking me. Anyhow, I'm sure there are other Brickpickera with maybe 10,000,000+ bricks out there? It's been real fun so far so I think I'll justvkeep going. It took me 3737 sets to get here so my next goal maybe to own 5000 seales Lego sets. Anybody else out there who is a Brickmillionair?
