I received two packages today via USPS: 9450 bought off ebay. Listed as brand new with pics to match. Seller slapped a label on the LEGO box and put it in the mail. How moronic is this? Of course, box was completely destroyed. 9516 bought off Amazon as new from third party. Shipped in brown paper only. Box destroyed. After taking pictures, I removed the rest of the brown paper. One end of the box had been opened PRIOR to being shipped and was taped shut. Upon opening the box, bag 1 had been opened at some point and taped shut. I just want to smack these people upside the head. I sure with there was some recourse to be compensated for my time in having to deal wi…

I'm going to toot my own horn for a minute and show off the Lego table I just built for my girls. Not all the drawers are in, but there is a trough in the front with holes so they can slide all the excess Legos directly into the top drawers. It was a fun build and they like it - plus it's a little more play area than the everyday play table.

Please move this thread if this isn't the right place for it. What Treasures, Gems, or Garbage did your Lego Bulk Lot Hold? I wanted to start this thread for awhile, what I would like to see is the hidden gems you found in the box wether it be lego (cool or rare pieces) or something else neat other then lego ( toys, coins, etc) or something crazy like (glass, metal garbage, etc). Photos would always be good so the forum could help you identify an item. I have a few things to post like a small c3po made of metal I think and some small plastic camels and elephants.

I was recently interested in diagon valley set. Of course, I know it has retired. I still want to grab some at current price in secondary market because I do believe their value will increase over time if hold on to them longer. I just heard from one collector that he or she has more than 50 sets of this set. .....Is that how other collectors do or invest? I understand the concept of diversifying the investment. However, more than 50 sets?!

Here's yet another opinion thread. "What theme(s) or set(s) do you think are the weakest?" This can range from what your gut instinct is for investment to personal opinions on less than stellar designs and this includes all sets & themes, not just currently available or future ones even. Here's my starting two cents. Speed Racer - 8160 - Cruncher Block & Racer X Released in 2008 alongside the new film and three other sets, this one ended up being by the far the 'lemon'. Racer X and his Shooting Star car were already in another set so there really wasn't a reason to toss him in another. Now the truck cab is pretty cool. It has a big, surly, "get the f*** outta m…

On the lighter side of things in the world, an amputee built herself a leg out of Lego. It's nice to see people enjoying life like this, taking a light-hearted approach to a devastating thing that happened to them (I believe she was in some sort of accident). "She is now the first person in history to be happy to step on a Lego" Read the article here: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/good-news/amputee-builds-her-own-prosthetic-leg-lego-155447445.html

The Atlantic Wire has just released a little narrative of the US government shutdown...in LEGO form! I think this does a pretty good job of explaining what the problems are, and how the government is "trying" to solve those issues. **THIS POST IS NOT MEANT TO SPARK POLITICAL DEBATE. ITS SOLE PURPOSE IS FOR HUMOR AND THE SAKE OF SHARING.** Thank you for your cooperation.

I came across an interesting website today. This website is in the funding phase, but it seems like it could have good potential. The website focuses on trading instructions/pieces between sellers/creators. Here's the link: http://thebrickstop.com/ Do think this is a good idea?

So this is really OT even for the Odds & Ends forum, but I am excited haha. Anyway, my Mom is the type of person who keeps things for a really long time, even if they are terribly out dated. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I mean, it has been a good thing, as it taught me to think of all large purchases as an investment for the long term. Helps me save money. So, just yesterday, we stepped into the HD revolution and bought a 50" Panasonic plasma TV. I know it's entirely cliche, but the fact that I can finally see wrinkles in people's faces and notice their make-up is blowing my mind. I mean I've seen HD before obviously but mostly at like places of business where I…

Pretty interesting trailer - Could be good for the Quinjet set, unless they release another one. Looks like it plays a big role.

I have massively invested in LOTR sets in 2012 and 2013. However, now the 2014 sets are out, I have started hesitating. One of my favorite sets is the 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army. The problem is the price difference between US and Europe. Retail prices: US : 29.9USD UK : 47USD (29.9

So I like toys and therefor have a crap ton of them at work. As you can see, I have some lego stuff, and a lot of dinosaurs. A lot of technic stuff as well. Problem is, some people at work (including my wife) think it is funny to play with my toys, which are for show and only for me to play with. What is the world coming to?

For some reason in stores and online in my country they usually put Playmobil and Lego together, I remember when I was a kid watching those toys and asking myself: What is this? What are they doing next to Lego if you can't build them? I guess they're just common toys =/.

My family is going to legoland in a couple of weeks. Are there any tips and suggestions for those that have gone in the past? I have two little ones - 2 (just started building) and 5 (avid builder - he built the sea cow). Thanks!

If the title isn't clear here it is; basically I hope to pull an all-nighter (or as long as is necessary) to be one of the first to place an order to take advantage of the Martian Manhunter Minifigure promotion. For those of you who need the details, here they are; LEGO - March 2014 Calendar. I will try and be active on my laptop in the hours leading up to it on multiple places. 1. Here. If you just want to hit me up here and talk here on Brickpicker, or PM me here then that's cool. But I will more likely be checking out my social networks, and not Brickpicker. 2. My Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PieceOutStudios. Shoot me a message, and like if you w…

It's interesting to think about how LEGO is so much more than just a plastic brick making company now. ...might be worth thinking about. http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/advisor/build-brand-content-empire-learn-lego-131516058.html Although the best way for our existing sets to go way up in value if for LEGO to go out of business (Just kidding!)

OK, this is not totally my original idea. I got from Knorbika on the Who is over 30 thread and thought it deserved its own thread. http://www.brickpicker.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/3404/P60/#35592 So.... What was your first ever Lego set? And do you still have it? Mine was 673 I got on Christmas 79 I think. I only have about 3 original pieces left so I hunted out a pristine version from eBay. If you want to add pictures, I got mine from Brickset.com
