  2. We all like a good knee jerk reaction and as I was looking through ebay sales, I was just thinking how a few of last years retirements had disappointed so far. Really thought Ecto-1 and the White House would be stronger out the gate, but I guess so did everyone else and they must have been seriously hoarded. Looking at Ecto-1 on Bricklink, it's sales are similar enough, if even a little stronger than Wall-e, but there's still 3 times as many Ecto-1's for sale as Wall-E's, which will stunt the growth. Anyone else got any they had much higher expectations of? Just thought of another, Shuttle Tyderium, definitely no At-At or Star Destroyer.

  3. When it comes to investing in BIG sets it is common opinion that NONE of them will ever be a real loser. This is my opinion, too, but there are some popular big sets I think are fairly overrated and will in the end "lose" the race for becoming big investment winners after EOL. I do not intend to p*ss anyone off here, criticising their favorite sets. But as it is a common practice in this forum to tell people to "buy, buy, buy!" I thought it might not be a bad idea to make people think again about buying at least in some cases. In the end, of course, this is also to tell you my opinion on sets I just don't understand why they are being hyped the was they are - and to get t…

After getting a wide variety of positive and (even more) negative responses on my "Biggest Losers - Class of 2014" thread (http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/10487-biggest-losers-class-of-2014/), this time I'd like to discuss the investment winners of sets released in 2014. Here is my personal list of 2014 sets with the most growth potential imo (after retiring some day, of course): 1.) 76023: The Tumbler 2.) 10243: Parisian Restaurant 3.) 10242: Mini Cooper MK VII 4.) 42030: Volvo L350F Wheel Loader 5.) 21108: Ghostbusters Ecto-1 I'd like to get to know your Top 5, too!

My investment plan seemed to have been straight forward until this weekend where I ran into snag. I buy Lego new in box for long time hold investment and I buy bulk lots for the entertainment of building. Here's where the waters get muddied. I bought 2 boxes of bulk Lego and found the Black Pearl. No sails, and no instructions, but sealed bags and the ship parts. Not sure If I have all of the bags. Here is the question. Do I open them? What would you do?

  12. I bought a 5 kilo box of 1970's Lego for 68 euro, but I found that set 700.0 is in there. If I look online I find a picture of an house but no manual. Does any of you have one, or knows where to find one. Then I can make it complete, I miss maybe 5 or 6 pieces. Also found an electric train set with 60+ pieces of rails, switches, crosses and crossing in blue/white which I did not sort yet, set 332 only missing a door, 335, 200 in box, 275 in box, 150 in box, 271 in box, so good deal already Also anybody has a good way of undrying the rubbers of the wheels?

We hear quite a bit about box art and I'm just wondering what makes it or breaks it? The most important part of a set is what's inside the box, but there have to be some people who care about the outside as well. In some cases the box art might be the biggest factor in selling a set. One thing I can't stand seeing on the front of a Lego box is that rectangle with text inside that says "WARNING! CHOKING HAZARD...." I get it, of course, but it is still annoying. I love the newer designs coming out...such as the Curiosity Rover, Ecto-1, and Exo Suit. I like the dark backgrounds with less distractions. This thread probably has more to do with collecting tha…

Hi Everyone, thebrickfan.com has a great article detailing a new Brick Builders Club. http://www.thebrickfan.com/brick-builders-club-september-box-review I'm posting to see what others think about this membership, the contents of the first kit and if you think that it will be worthwhile going forward. I would like to join but I also just joined loot crate and so trying to decide. Then again I don't want to miss (unless I am too late) the first edition as I am a collector and want to have complete sets of whatever I collect. Let me know what you think. Thanks

  17. Over the last 2 years LEGO has been taking more and more (legal) action against German retailers and YouTubers they consider detrimental to their business. Legal alternative brick brands have gotten pretty big in Germany recently - you might say that just LEGO's actions themselves have pushed the alternatives' popularity further (cue "Streisand effect"). Obviously TLG is losing (German) market shares big enough to make them unhappy - their answer being to send out their lawyers to take care of it (instead of making their own products better or setting affordable prices again, for instance). Now, while the "Brick Wars" are getting more and more intense in Germany, I'v…

I just joined Brick Picker and I am really glad I found this site. I have been collecting Lego for a really long time. When I get a new lego set I open it up build and put it on my shelf. I don't really play with lego. I really like lego but I mostly display, not play with it. As I was adding sets to my brickfolio I noticed that if I say that they are used the value on my sets go down. All my Lego sets are in right out of the box condition. Would my sets be considered New or Used?

First of all, love the site! I entered all my sets into my brickfolio and only 32 of my 90 sets are displayed. When I click on "add brickfolio item" it shows the total number of sets I entered but doesn't allow me to view them or edit them (i.e. delete a set). Is there a set cap or something? Am I missing something? thanks

Hi guys, I want your opinion. There is a guy on Bricklink selling some old sets I want complete with boxes for a resonable price. Catch is he has zero feedback. Looking around at his store nothing else really throws any red flags up nevertheless the feedback(or lack of it ) concerns me. Does paypal offer protection if it is not an ebay transaction? keen to hear what others think..........

I was hoping someone would write an article on how to use bricklink...but no luck yet. I am very confused..there has to be an easier way. My current situation..... I need 4 reddish grills and 2 1x8 reddish bricks for an mtt Need a trans blue fire for the potter ship, as well as a mag glass, and some light blue tiles and bricks. Is the best way to find one vendor for all parts to create a want list..then shop that? Seems like it takes forever to create a want list. Is there a huge vendor that many of you use and can suggest for my issue? I don't care about price..but would prefer us seller. I ended up using toyburg for this order...and one other smal…
