Hi there folks. I was wondering if there is a big market for LEGO sculptures. I happened to find one and bought it. Now I was wondering if people are crazy about it? Attached is the picture of the sculpture. Kind regards!

Are there any sets out there that you feel may be a sleeper or off the radar? Personally I feel that 10223 Kingdom's Joust has a lot of potential and yet isn't talked about much.

Many of us are just plain fans of Lego so whatever we sell, the profits go back to re-investing or buying sets for personal collection. Curious, what the 'balance sheet' of other members of like? For example as a relatively new investor my meek profits so far only contributes to approx 5% of my current inventory. Eventually if I'm successful that % will get higher 20%, 30%, 50% etc, as I sell more, sets appreciates...hopefully I become a better investor (step 1 - buy outside of Canada haha) not withstanding a secondary market collapse. I'm sure some members might just be playing with profits (house money) for their entire inventory/collection. Weird question or …

With all the discussion about the Minecraft set I thought I would share how I get alerts of stock on Amazon. I use a website camelcamelcamel.com and sign up for alerts on the sets I want and the price I am willing to pay. Its cool because if gives you the price of the item for the past year so you can see the highs and lows. So to get alerted to new stock just set the alert for the MSRP and you will get an alert. If you dont have a smartphone I suggest you use your phone number as the alert email. (i.e. [email protected], just do a google search for your carrier) and then you will get a text alert. Hope this helps others out. Also if you go to www.list-al…

If I were to put together a set using pieces bought in bulk, would it be considered a used set missing box missing instructions? Or is it worthless?

Published in the Wall Street Journal a couple days ago: Lego A/S shook off the malaise affecting the wider toy market and fended off an onslaught of fresh competition in the building-block segment to continue its winning streak in 2012, booking a 25% revenue increase that vaulted it into a near tie for the No. 2 slot in the global toy business. The Danish toy maker enjoyed sustained success for its popular Lego City and Lego Star Wars sets. Its new Lego Friends theme, targeting girls, sold twice as well as initial expectations and helped triple sales to girls. Lego's growth has been attributed in part to more sets aimed at girls. Above, Lego Friends characters at the N…

I have bad motor skills, however I still do love LEGO's, and the sets. I mainly like visually looking at LEGO's, and just building basic stuff. I would only keep them for investment purposes, but not to build because it's sorta hard for me. Everyone I know buys sets and uses them, and then when these people get older they sell them. The only problem is that when you open it; value decreases.

Just a quick rant here... Is it just that I'm having a run of bad luck or do the major retailers suck at shipping items? This week: WalMart - Ordered 5 Items/2 damaged TRU - Ordered The Summer Riding Camp/Received it damaged, and it probably can't be replaced Amazon - Ordered 3 items/2 damaged Some of these things I don't even understand how they make the decision to put it in the box. One of the items from Amazon was sent in an envelope without adequate protection (it was a 3rd party). I'm having an internal debate with myself about whether the damage on the Friends thing even matters...that seems like more of a playable set to me than anything. I'm almost …

That you can type "sold out" into the search at LEGO Shop at Home and it will give you all the ones sold out. Just tried it today...LoL Saves one from having to go through all the ones you're curious about.

Hi guys, TRU in Switzerland have a 20% off all Lego sets. I'd be able to buy the 2 above sets for 20% off retail yet I was wondering, are they good investments? I've done some research on 7879 and it seems like it's a bit of crappy set yet it has some cool minifigs in it which is always a good thing for value. I think we've already seen some unsuccessful sets become quite nice investments in the past. Also I know the Monster Fighter theme is pretty popular so I was thinking of getting the Castle at least. What do you think about these sets?

I found a zombie 9465 at a garage sale for $7, but it was missing the first bag. I bought all the pieces from lego.com, but still need 4 pieces. Where is the best/safest place to buy these remaining pieces? Thanks.

Lately I have been finding myself doing less and less driving around and hunting for deals. Partly because I don't have as much free time in the evening and the other component is that it is a gamble on whether or not I will come up with a score. With this all in mind how does everyone evaluate time spent hunting down deals and whether or not they score big? Now some stores have sales going on but even then there are times when they also sell out of an item and a person walks away empty handed. With this in mind does a slightly smaller discount online have a better return of the convenience of saving time and effort to go to a brick and mortar store? I used to en…

Some of you probably remember that I and some other members ordered some Monster Fighters Zombie sets from Export Prive at the beginning of January 2013. My order went in on January 2, 2013 and I got the package in today, came from Korea. Package was packed VERY NICELY--much better than even the ones I get from LEGO Shop at Home. The 6 Monster Fighter Zombie boxes are all in great shape and were backed in bubble wrap--one has a small crease on the front but that's it. In the end, the 3 week wait was a long one but I was able to track the package the whole way from South Korea over that entire period. I would have no hesitation ordering from them in the future…

hello fellow brickpickers, a moment of your time please. I think I know the answer to this, but would appreciate some opinions from some varied points of view. I have an opportunity to purchase a jabbas's sail barge, jabba's palace, and rancor pit for $240. all three are mint in box, with no tax or shipping charges. currently the palace and rancor pit are available on amazon for $95 and $48, respectively. both with no tax or shipping. $240-$143=$97 for the sail barge. unless I am missing something, there have not been any discounts on the barge (yet), so if I bought one local including tax it would cost me $126.59. that would be a savings of 23% on a sail barge if b…

Hello everyone, I have been on this site for many many years and have collected legos even longer I had to create this new account because I haven’t been able to get into my old one. Anyways what I’m wanting to talk about in this post is a new idea I came up with for the 60 Drawer stack on cabinets that a lot of us use to store extra parts and pieces. The cabinets have always been great and I love using them but if your in thing like me it can still be hard to see inside while looking for the pieces your needing even tho there clear. I have seen where people use the label makers to label each Drawer but that can still cause some problems if you need to change out the par…

Well, I had a few paragraphs and then realized something . . . My own thread title is WHEN to sell, not what happens when you sell. I had scenarios and Ebay fee calculations and numbers etc. But I realized I just need to keep this simple and directly to the question. When is the best time to sell your Lego sets? And why? First off, they would obviously have to be retired so that the value has risen. Secondly, it matters how much you paid per set. A larger discount from the MSRP will always be better in the long run, although I'd rather pay full price for a set like Diagon Alley than wait for a discount and miss out. If that set rises to $350, I really don't care if…

I used to rely on Google shopping to give me the best idea of who was selling a set and for how much or to find the best price on a set. NOw GS has been overrun with poor data and bogus Chinese sets. Anyone have a price comparison site that gives the best data?

So yesterday my wife and I were moving around our sets as we have guests coming into the house on Friday (let's face it, we all would think it'd be cool to have a closet full of kick-ass Lego sets but some people would like to hang their clothes and whatever, losers) and I heard the five words no collector wants to hear ever: we are out of space. My apartment is not big nor small, but I've done my share to fill it with Lego sets. They are basically everywhere: kitchen cabinets, guest room's closet, my closet, wife's closet, you name it. I think I'll have to rent a storage room in the building as I don't think that this will go away anytime soon. On a side note, a…

I just sold a $200 item on ebay to a domestic buyer. The buyer has a score of 30, 100% positive feedback. The buyer has already paid but he has requested me to place a packing slip in the box with the item price showing only $40. He said he doesn't want his family members to see it is a $200 item. Personally I have no problem doing that, but do you guys foresee any possibility of scam here?

For the love of LEGO. This is listed on craigslist. Sure hope its not a scam. Do you have spare/unwanted LEGO minifigures? Unwanted/Duplicates of LEGO mini figures all shapes and sizes. My son is a little Autistic. He loves his LEGOS. He rarely thinks of others and has difficultly with empathy. He is very excited for Valentine's Day and wants everyone in his class to have a LEGO mini figure. He has already gone through all of his mini figures and picked out several to give away but he does not have enough for everyone in the class. I am willing to buy them off of you. I am looking for any mini figures you do not want or have too many duplicates of. If the pric…

This is just one of thousands of ridiculous examples.....my question is this, do people actually buy sets at a markup like this? I can think of the most expensive LEGO market like somewhere in Europe or Australia and this still would make zero sense! http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=290672374250

Brickpicker is helping to get the word out for LEGO fans to join in on the LEGO Ideas Bracket. Please take a few minutes to go in and make your selections for designs that you would like to see move on to the next round!!! Round One of our 64 project bracket is closed and that means Round Two is open for voting! This is double elimination so any project that looses a comparison will drop to the lower bracket. Projects failing a comparison in the lower bracket are out of contention. When both brackets have been reduced to one project, those top projects will be compared to determine the favorite project of the participating community of voters. I would ask that …
