With all the discussion about the Minecraft set I thought I would share how I get alerts of stock on Amazon. I use a website camelcamelcamel.com and sign up for alerts on the sets I want and the price I am willing to pay. Its cool because if gives you the price of the item for the past year so you can see the highs and lows. So to get alerted to new stock just set the alert for the MSRP and you will get an alert. If you dont have a smartphone I suggest you use your phone number as the alert email. (i.e. [email protected], just do a google search for your carrier) and then you will get a text alert. Hope this helps others out. Also if you go to www.list-al…

In the other thread about the state of large set investing, a few people mentioned taxable status and perks associated there with. I've only recently got to the size where I really need to worry about such things, so I was hoping those in the know could provide some insight. I am not incorporated, last year and just was designated as self employed for the purposes of Lego reselling. (Not counting my other jobs, of course.) I have simply just been paying sales tax on the stuff I buy, and when selling I don't do anything special regarding taxes, Amazon charges it to the customer and that's that. If anyone has the time to go into depth on what I SHOULD do r…

  5. With the illegal reproduction of LEGO minifigures and bricks by counterfeiters on the rise, I thought it would be a help to the community as a whole to show how to identify fakes and frauds. I am quite unfamiliar myself as to what to look for. Photos would be appreciated as well. Thanks... So my question is this...How does a LEGO fan and collector identify a counterfeit LEGO minifigure or brick?

Hi, some of you may have read my thread where I meet Adam Reed Tucker at a lego convention and get several autographs from him on a Robie House instruction booklet, a 1st edition sealed John Hancock Center set and a T-shirt. Recently I also acquired an Exo-Suit set signed by the great Peter Reid himself! Right now, I have the sets and instruction booklet stored inside heavy duty freezer bags and kept out of sunlight and humidity. but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to store them better, and maybe have them be more displayable? I know The Container Store has clear plastic polycarbonate boxes they make for footballs, baseballs and other sports m…

  8. So this applies to members and guests from Europe, Australia or basically anywhere outside of the US. As a guest visiting this site, it is possible you will view the price guide on brickpicker, think "that's not right" and then never visit the site again. I know because that is what I did, eventually the site won me round by providing a hub of all the latest lego news and the forum can fill a few void hours. (From what I can gather) The reason the price guide is so out is because there is not enough accurate data and I imagine it also needs tweaking which is going to be a whole lot of man hours. I have often thought how I could help out with the U.K data but with so many…

Hi all, New member. First time poster. My 9yo daughter is quite fond of LEGO. I recently realised that she really enjoys playing with the LEGO afterwards. This got me to try and introduce her to free building which she's been thoroughly enjoying so far, making an Animal Crossing based island. With that in mind, I'd like her to have more LEGO to work with. She currently has a metric tonne of FRIENDS based LEGO so that's what she's working with. I guess I'm looking for a few tips/pointers please: What's the best way to start someone in freebuild and how can I support her? Are there specifics sets/boxes/block packages that I can buy her …

Neither my Bachelors or my Masters degree was in Economics so can someone explain why some sets have a higher used value than new? Diagon Alley being one. I am sure there is a simple explanation, i am just unaware of it. Thanks in advance.

  13. About 6 weeks ago I got banned from the Lego.com site for being too good of a customer (buying too many items). I challenge you to try getting banned from virtually any other retail store for buying too many items. Coach handbags is possibly the only one I can think of. Can you imagine getting banned from a car dealership for buying too many cars? How about McDonald's banning you for buying too many hamburgers? In fact, according to the New York Times many retail stores have VIP and concierge services which are extended to customers who spend a lot of money each year. Not only did I not get such a benefit extended to me, I was told to hit the bricks (pun intended). What t…

  14. If I plan on rebuying the sets that I grew up with and loved so much! Few I remember off the top of my head: 6270-1: Forbidden Island 6378-1: Shell Service Station 6395-1: Victory Lap Raceway And much more, but need to do some research what I had... What about you all? Don't you wish you had a time machine to tell young self not to be so foolish?

  15. I have been an assistant manager for Walmart for the past 2 1/2 years, I have overseen several areas of the store including toys. Before I came to Walmart I spent 3.5 years selling on eBay to support my family (not exclusively Lego). Since working at Walmart I use Amazon FBA as my method of selling. Due to financial constraints my Lego experience is only of the quick flip variety (problematic to some of you, I know). I would be more than happy to try to answer any questions or clear up any confusion you may have regarding Walmart and how it affects our lives as investors and collectors. I can only answer based on my experience and I certainly am not speaking for the …

I would like to ask a few questions. Can only the Lego website list Lego exclusives? This is where i ordered it from. https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/lego-exclusive-town-hall-lego-10224/BH2UZ5 They later sent me an email after ordering saying: After many 'fraudulent' we have to ask you for a scan of your card and drivers license. also they took the money out my bank and my order says processing.... Help!

My husband has done wiring to some of our lego display sets so that they light up (Trevi Fountain, specifically). When we build the Ferris Wheel, he has big plans to do the same. However, these would work way better than wires. i-Brix: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1426110532/i-brix-wireless-lighting-system-for-lego-building Anybody heard of them?

  18. I personally do not watch this show, (I think it's stupid) however Adventure Time is extremely popular with children. I think I would buy the smaller one though, if these were to come out. Any thoughts?

The writing is on the wall, I decided to get out now while market prices are still (marginally) profitable. Feels good, and the free’d space in the house is a plus. From here forward all LEGO sets will be those we actually want to build.

Looking around for things to list and come across two Haunted Houses, two Nintendos, two Pirates of Barracuda Bay, one Assembly Square, four Hedwigs, and two Roller Coasters. I bought these when things were super tight on the market but just don't have the follow through to get them back on the market. I'm much better at the long, slow hold. I really hope things are tight before the holidays so I can unload these and buy more Treehouses instead! Anyone else struggle with this?

  23. Black Friday miracles abound. Sold my first Exo-suit on Amazon Canada and will even make $10 off the thing after fees and shipping. I have 7 left. Bought them and a few more at a discount and had been slowly getting rid of them as birthday present and charity donations over the years but now one has sold and I raised the price $10. They said I was mad, mad I yells ya......

  24. Hi guys, I've recently started collecting lego minifgures from the starwar lines and got a batch of lego off from ebay but was wondering if it was authentic. From what I've read there would be the Lego logo printed on each piece if it was authentic. However, i cant there was a © where the Lego logo should be. As for the legs there's only one lego symbol between the two studs at the top. Can someone kindly tell me if this is normal or is my minifigure knock off? The minifgure im referring to is as shown below. Appreciate any help and thanks in advance!
