I am having a bit trouble deciding how ethical an idea I have is. So I figured why not take advice from an internet forum. Walmart allows you to buy an item at one of their stores and return it to another store. I can buy something in Vermont and return it to a store in Maine. Nothing unethical about doing this as it is their policy. But is it ethical to buy (5) 9472 Attack on Weathertop at one Walmart for $59.99 and return them to a Walmart that is sold out because they clearance them out for $30. Buy them legitimately and keep the receipt. The lower priced Walmart will give back the $59.99 each and then turn around and sell them for $30. Essentially it would…

If you haven't already read the Afol Dark Ages and Renaissance in the 90s and 00s ARTICLE, written by Tim Mahoney(Timinchicago), check it out. Tim's article is the first(of many more I hope) article/blog written by a BrickPicker member. Tim received 500 BRICKPICKER POINTS for his quality effort. Jeff and I are looking for other members to share their ideas with the other BrickPicker members and AFOLs around the world. We are looking for all types of LEGO content that would interest the typical LEGO fan. Articles can range from LEGO investing and collecting to various LEGO themes to buying and selling to storage...whatever. As long as it pertains to basic BrickPicker…

Ive haven't used ebay all that much since 2012-2013~ Ive watched it in 2014 10187 VW Beetle - Ive noticed this set has increased in value I bought mine in christmas of 2013 for $275 USD w/box n instruction Now its selling around $550 has it gone up because of the new car line (VW Camper, Mini Cooper and Coming Ferrari F40)? 10184 This set is very cheap considering what time it was discountinued is it cheap because people forgot about it? when I was in the lego store in 2009 I could only buy one set I debated between 10181 Eiffel Tower, 10185 Green Grocer and 10184 Town Plan thank god I bought the eiffe…

I got this reply from Lego customer service today and thought I would share it. Note that they tell me later in the email that I might be able to buy it from a third party seller through Amazon. Interesting.... Confusing policy, Lego! It sounds like Lego wants third party sellers to fill in their gaps. Dear Ben, Thanks for getting in touch with us. We appreciate you taking the time to share with us your disappointment with our LEGO

So TRU are doing their annual Easter £10 gift card giveaway for purchases of £40; SAH will shortly giveaway the mini VW Beatle for purchase of £35 and next month will giveaway the R2 along with double vip or 10% off as part of May the 4th. So question is, is here anything that's worth getting to get these giveaways? I was looking in TRU today and apart from a couple of constraction figures that were 35% off there was nothing that looked anything remotely interesting from a personal perspective never mind for investment purposes. Thoughts?

I know this has been discussed in other threads but I thought it would be nice to consolidate everyone's opinion in one place. March is the free Martian Manhunter with $75 purchase. April 1 - 15 is 2x VIP points. How is everyone planning to spread their purchases out? Is there a certain price threshold that will make you wait until the April 2x points or is the Martian Manhunter just too good to pass up? I plan to buy at least one Martian Manhunter so that makes the first decision easy. 2x VIP only comes around every 6 months so planning additional purchases, especially on exclusives, takes more analysis. What is everyone's strategy?

I feel a lot of people throw around the word flop, yet it can be a very subjective term. What do you consider a flop? Is anything above MSRP great? I left out anything above 100%, because in reality, those can't be considered flops. The goal here is to come to a more sound understanding of what a flop is? Obviously clearances can make even the worst set profitable, but for the sake of discussion, imagine they are irrelevant.

Hi guys, I've recently started collecting lego minifgures from the starwar lines and got a batch of lego off from ebay but was wondering if it was authentic. From what I've read there would be the Lego logo printed on each piece if it was authentic. However, i cant there was a © where the Lego logo should be. As for the legs there's only one lego symbol between the two studs at the top. Can someone kindly tell me if this is normal or is my minifigure knock off? The minifgure im referring to is as shown below. Appreciate any help and thanks in advance!

Trying to get some clarity on this topic. If I buy a set and use some vip points, what do I record the cogs for the set? For instance, if buy a set for $200 and use $20 vip points to get the price for $180. Do I record my cogs as $180 or $200. Similar question would be credit card reward points. If I use them to pay off some of my monthly bill, how does that factor into cogs? If you have an accountant do your taxes, how do they handle these situations?

How were your sales this year compared to last year? I solely do FBA. I had far less sales (43% decline) this year compared to 2020. I suppose the main reasons are: - more competition with sellers with much bigger quantities (200-500pcs) - UK not part of EU anymore - prolonged product cycles because of covid, so I had less ripe product to sell - surge of power prices/inflation - so no money for expensive toys

Hello! What do you guys think a misprint of the box of a Nismo is worth? (I guess it only appeared on the first lot released in china for the asian market). Lego took a photo of a model where a Sticker on the door is upsidedown and printed it on the box and manuals. They also used this photos (and still use) on their advertisment on lego.com. There often are misprints but I guess if its really rare and also kind of funny (they cant handle those many stickers by themselves anymore) it could be of certain interest...so whats your opinion on this?

There is one strange thing going on with my LEGO VIP account. So, yesterday I ordered two B-Wings online without using my available point balance, then went to the actual store and purchase one more, and that put my VIP balance at $ 50. I used those 50 on the same day to get the 10240 X-Wing, but for some reason it took a very long time and several tries to apply the points to the final bill (all in store with a manager). Today I signed in into my LEGO online account and see that my VIP Point balance still says $50 available. I go ahead and add a 10240 to my bag just to see what happens and it goes right ahead and deducts the $ 50 from my final bill (Did not purchase as …

I have been thinking about an auction on eBay I watched approx 3 years ago that I wished I had persevered with. The set was #6339, the Shuttle Launch Pad. The reason I wished I kept up with the auction was because it was signed (with proof photos) by Story Musgrave, the only astronaut to go on all five Space Shuutles. My losss was due to the finishing time being early hours my time and the notification system about ending soon items wasn't so great then. When I saw that it finished, I was rather mad with myself as this was If I had outbid the others, it went for approx US $150, this would have been a locked away set for investment purposes. I wonder what it's worth now…

Hello everyone, My name is Megan, from Australia, and I've just started to wonder whether to small-scale amateur invest in some lego. I've been reading some of the articles and they are great, but one thing I haven't understood is why would you wait until a set is close to being retired to purchase? If I see something on sale, or even RRP that I think would be good to purchase, wouldn't it make sense to purchase it and then keep it for a few years, if I'm not in a hurry to make a profit? Also, why is the year after retirement the best for selling rather than, say, ten years after retirement? Thanks very much! Cheers, Megan

Simple enough question, many of us have thousands or tens of thousands in Legos by now, the money had to come from somewhere to do it. Personally, I have funded my tiny collection through Christmas/Birthday cash/cards as well as a bunch of different rewards programs such as Swagbucks, Bing and CC's, I do take a bit of my paycheck sometimes if I see a great deal but 80% of my purchases are made with other money. Have some of you been cutting back on vacations? What portions of your lifestyle did you shave off or trim back to get into the hobby? Are some of you working more? Selling? Just curious
