I found a website that has lego gift cards at 5% off but it is only worth buying if it stacks with vip points or else you wont save and you will even lose when there is double points (thanks in advance)

I've been getting back into LEGO and been spending my cash on some sweet UCS sets to build and display. Wise, or should I store them and let them mock at me to build them lol.

As a fairly new collector/investor...sometimes I have doubts if I should sell my last set or keep it when the set is already EOL. Potentially you could sell for higher margin down the road if you keep it - also the set will never be as cheap (most likely) as when you purchased it on sale before EOL if you want it for personal collection. So the usual scenario is buy +4 multiple of a set on sale(s)...sell them as you go, as stock dwindles you might raise prices. Just curious how many people here just keep that LAST set and delete the listing? Of course set value, personal favourites, budget and space are variables.

I have purchased my first lot of sets from a Craigslist seller. He had several boxes that he had saved. My question is, how much value does a box add to a used set? Or is it even worth keeping them? These sets are not that sought after, so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for the help JB

  5. Does anybody think lego will surprise us with another big set anytime soon because there haven't been many big sets out in last couple of years for example another huge star wars set would be nice for the people who can never get hold of the old sets.

  6. Just curious if anyone has dabbled in custom printing their own mini figures? I've heard water slide decals are a good way to start. Others have mentioned investing in a pad printer which is insanely expensive. If anyone does this, I would love to see some of your work and hear about your process. I really am not looking to buy custom minifigs, just pick someones brain who has experience with it! Thanks!

Hello, I know most LEGO fans don't even like to mention the term 'MegaBloks' and I know many think they are just big blocks for babies. I do think that the Halo, Need for Speed, StarCraft and World of Warcraft sets are pretty darn cool though. Does anyone think that MegaBlok has a chance of ever becoming liked by the LEGO crowd? I attached some sets that I thought were pretty cool.

  8. Supposedly the "Collector's Guide" which is sold out on S&**** shows the "rarity" of each set and that rating takes into account the secondary market on ebay and other sites. This would be good info to have, maybe here in the forum or on the price guide pages. Does anyone know about this?

So I see on ebay that a few people who are obviously VIP members are selling pre orders for the cinema. Well tommorow they won't be pre orders but anyway they are selling them for 200.00 USD. My question is this, after PayPal, ebay and shipping fees how much are they really gonna make? Maybe they got some kind of deal or something but paying 149.00 plus tax isn't going to net them much I don't think.

This may be a silly question. But do TLG ever release official sales numbers for particular sets? For example: In 2012 we sold xxx of 10197 but only yyy of 10230

These were my October 2013 purchases and builds I own hundreds of sets I've built displayed, and broke down and stored away. These are my first Modulars every and I so enjoyed them.. So question to my fellow brickpickers which one should be next....

  12. Lately I have been finding myself doing less and less driving around and hunting for deals. Partly because I don't have as much free time in the evening and the other component is that it is a gamble on whether or not I will come up with a score. With this all in mind how does everyone evaluate time spent hunting down deals and whether or not they score big? Now some stores have sales going on but even then there are times when they also sell out of an item and a person walks away empty handed. With this in mind does a slightly smaller discount online have a better return of the convenience of saving time and effort to go to a brick and mortar store? I used to en…

  15. Hi, Today I attended a briefing session in Durham Cathedral (in UK), about a fundraising activity they are having where they are going to build a replica, and raise money by getting people to sponsor the bricks. It is going to be a minimum, yes minimum, of 100,000 bricks, and will be 3.7m x 1.7m x 1.5m (12ft x 5ft6 x 4ft11). It is being designed by a UK (I believe) company that works with Lego and designs/builds their Legoland models. Anyway, they are looking for volunteers to help build it, so thought I would share, though apologies on the lateness of the post as briefs were today and I found out myself last minute, but there may still be time to get involved if y…

Hi Guys Sorry I am not sure if there is a thread already but I recently started selling my Lego on ebay and I am charging people sales tax on new sets. Looking at other sellers they don't seem to be charging sales tax on sales , is there an option to turn it off? I don't quite understand if I need to charge for it? I would have paid it when I bought it do I need to charge when I sell it? Thank you Stu

Before I begin, apologies if this is a rehash of another person's view that has already been posted. A couple of background things as well. I am in Australia, postage to my country is not cheap for items from the US, Europe or Asia. Also, being in Australia, sites such as Amazon do not directly ship to my country, so I am keeping this to being about eBay, which I have experience with. One last thing, any monitory values are $AUS, this is worth 90 cents to the $1US, to keep it simple, I will say it is the same. So I begin.... I have just received a parcel from the United States containing Lego set 40079. I purchased it from eBay, received it in just over a week. …

Just curious, but do the finishing prices provided by the Ebay on the price guide include shipping costs? On sets that are selling a reasonable quantity every now and then you can see 1 or 2 auctions lower than the rest. If the prices shown do NOT include shipping costs I was wondering if the lower priced items had higher shipping costs causing people to bid less. Or were the buyers just lucky.

Was browsing on Ebay when I noticed this new logo against some lego sellers, could Ebay also start gating Lego sellers? Seems unlikely to me, but guess everyone should always have a backup plan if Amazon and now potentially Ebay start restricting sellers.

  20. As recently by LEGO stated they will introduce environmental friendly boxes and dispense disposable plastic packaging... So whats that gonna be? Is every LEGO Set from now to 2025 a collectible and by 2025 we talk about the good old times when Lego wasn´t packed by something that can fertilize your plants...? I really don´t know what to think about that? Shipping is going to be much more expensive for sure... https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-group-jahresergebnis-2019/

Was at Walmart in Texas this morning looking for HP Minifigs (no luck) and saw some new Harry Potter sets with large white stickers on them. One was set name/piece count/ages... Another one had country of origin disclaimer... Obvious these were from EU and then repacked for US Market due to plant closure in Mexico. Wonder if the instruction booklet inside is EU or US?

Hello all, first post here! Sorry if this has been asked before, with a quick search I couldn't find the answer. So I'm from Finland and got very intrested in lego-investments. After digesting the idea for a while, digging up bits of various information and following the thumbler set's retirement, I finally decided to jump in. I bought the sandcrawler set from Lego-store last night as a bit of a rash decision. It cost me 350 euros in Finland. Now after looking up more on the set I noticed it's being sold for 300 dollars in US. So I paid about 70e overprice for my investment? Can I expect to make money in the aftermarket with this set and is brickvesting in gener…

I've read some blogs and have some very basic Excel spreadsheet experience. But, my spreadsheet looks pretty awful and isn't very user friendly. It would be awesome if someone with a really nice, Lego specific, Excel spreadsheet wanted to share their blank template for those on this site........ I really like the way you can export the brickfolio data to Excel, but I like to customize my spreadsheet and add sales data, which makes importing new data impossible.

If not what is your pick for '2013 Set of the Year' for investing purposes. There is competition from other sets released this year: Tower of Orthanc, Ewok Villiage, Delorean, etc...but 5yrs from now, which set will you predict to be Top Dog in terms of ROI (cash or %)?
