Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. Started by Ed Mack,

If you already haven't noticed, we made small changes to the PRICE AND SET GUIDE PAGE. Jeff made the photos a little more prominent and added links to the British and European Amazon.com sites. The Amazon.com listings also show current discounts and percentages off(in green). We will also be adding some other British and European stores to give Brickpicker members more options when pricing and purchasing LEGO sets.

I noticed on Hoth Bricks that there was a little write-up on Brickpicker and that some of the users have responded in what appears to be a negative fashion. I can't read the write-up or the complaints (sure I could copy and paste everything into a translation site, but what fun would that be?) so I was wondering if I could get a little synopsis. Thanks!

So, I think that one reply to this post would be sufficient if I get a good enough answer, but what does the actual monthly listing values account for? For example, does the price sold for an item include the cost of shipping, or is it just the original price? ALso, just exactly how accurate is the average compared to real world? I never seem to find sets that come even close the the monthly average on ebay, so someone please give me an insight on where the data comes from.

  4. Just launched a new page that will show what the Top 50 most sold sets on eBay were from our most current database update. It will be updated every time the database gets refreshed. This is a great tool to see what the trends of the current most popular selling items are. Perhaps you will see sets on there that you own and might want to part with, now would be a good time to sell those since they are hot with community. It's just another helpful research tool to see what's happening in the LEGO market. Take a look: View the Top 50 most sold LEGO sets on eBAY EDIT: Not only are the TOP 50 SOLD LEGO SETS on EBAY available at the above link, you can also see the TOP SE…

Does it make more sense for this number to be calculated by using a weighted average rather than a simple average? For example the Monster Hunters number looks a little inflated because of the existence of a couple of smaller sets which as a % have a high CAGR. Just a thought...

I have seen it happen a couple times already, posts that are unreadable (except through the BrickPicker app) because the URL has invalid encoding. The posts about chapters.ca or the 9525 are a good examples: http://community.brickpicker.com/forum/52-canada/ It happens everytime the post's topic includes non-alphanumerical characters. In the HTML link, such characters have to be encoded by the % character followed by the two digits of their ASCII hexadecimal code. Therefore $ becomes %24, % becomes %25, and so on. It would be great to fix this issue!

Hi there, since the update I have begun receiving copies of new posts to email, so my email is getting quite full as you can imagine. If you could please turn this off or tell me how to turn it off that would be appreciated. I can not seem to do it in my notifications. In fact in the notifications it requires me to choose at least one option for email updates and I would prefer to choose no option. I do not want any extra emails. Thank you

Hi I'm trying to import my Brickset collection and am having trouble with my username and password. I've cleared my Brickfolio database and then used the import from Brickset link. Every time i enter my username and password i get the message "Your Brickset Login Failed, Please Try Again!" I am using my Brickset login and am able to login to the Brickset website using my username and password with no issue. Thanks Nick

Looking at the value of an older set, 8247-1: Road Rebel, I see that the value went to zero in June. I understand that for some sets that do not have much activity there is not much price data, but shouldn't there be some "boundary checking" that stops a value from going to zero? (or are there some sets so useless you have to give them away ) I also noticed that the "used" value was higher than the "new" value for this set -- also odd...

I got notification over the past few days that 2 members have redeemed the points they earned for spreading the word of Brickpicker on the social media sites. We would like to thank debrick81 and segreto for earning enough points to claim their Target and Starbucks gift cards. It is greatly appreciated to help let people know about Brickpicker. This will help all of us as Brick Classifieds is getting much closer to release. Keep up the great work everyone!

I notice the brickfolio software will export an inventory to csv, but I don't see a way to import it from csv. In fact the only ways I can seem to find to import into brickfolio is to connect the a third-party website (Brickset and Rebrickable). Am I overlooking the ability to directly import an inventory? Thanks!

I apologize if this question seems basic, but I can't seem to find the answer on your site. In regards to my Brickfolio Value, what is the difference between the larger, bolded number, and the "Approx:" number in smaller, italicized font? Is this the difference in known ticket price (in bold) and the current resale value (in italics) of my collection? Thanks

  15. What would you guys (everyone in the forum, not just Ed and Jeff) think about doing some sort of Mega Poll to determine what is the best investment currently out there in the mind of all the members? I was thinking about setting up a bracket sort of like March Madness where some of the most popular sets out there would go against each other with voting open for a week or so on each "match" and the winner would advance to the next round until there is only one left: the best investment currently available as chosen by the members. Imagine doing a VC vs Helm's Deep, R2-D2 vs X-Wing, etc, etc. Just wanted to throw it out there in case there is interest on this. I of cours…

I do apologize if this is not the correct forum for this but I don't see another that's any more appropriate. I assumed the BrickPicker blog was part of the BrickPicker Community and so I thought my login on the community would pass through to the blog but it doesn't. When I tried to register it says registration is disabled. Anyone know what's going on? Is the Bri8ckpicker blog just temporarily having issues or is something else going on?

Jason from The Brick Show and I correspond from time to time. He is a member on this site and they use our data in most of their LEGO investment series videos. There is now a new link on our site for Lego Investing videos with the spotlight on The Brick Show investment videos. I think they do a great job with them and we will continue to post the latest videos as they produce them. If you have not watched any of them, I recommend that you do. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/lego_investing_videos.cfm

I stopped investing a few years ago, but I have lots of loose Lego. Does anyone buy Lego by the pound?

  19. Am I missing something or what gives ? I've tried to look through different options to turn the bar "back on" or to see where it went. So far nothing. That was about the only way for me to keep track of what my progress was. Can anyone shed some light ? Thanks ! so much in advance.

  20. I have a 10252-1: VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE in my brick folio. But all the details are missing. Is this a bug or am I missing something??

Not sure if anyone else has had a chance to try out the Gallery feature, but I just uploaded some pictures of my quick MOCs that I make when I take my kids to Legoland Discovery Center just outside of Chicago. Kudos to Jeff and Ed on this gallery feature! It's easy to use, has some key features (like rotate image), and really shows pictures well. I would invite anyone to check out my Gallery, but I'm not sure how members can access it. I suppose you can try to click on my user name to see if it offers you the option to check the Gallery.

Hi, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but since the site update all I can see in the value guide graph is a flat line as the date is set to 1970. I'm assuming that I can set the range of this to look at new and no-so-new sets and their performances over specified time frames, but I can's see how to. Here's what I'm seeing:
