Had some Lego during the much younger days. My favorite was the yellow castle, but alas, no longer in possession of any remnants of that. Sadly, have not followed the Lego sets for a long time, though still always loved my Lego. Want to start buying again. Started end of December with purchases of the Diagon Alley, Medieval Market Village and the Fire Brigade, as x-mas gifts to myself. Interested in collecting for personal enjoyment. But, starting to also be interested in collecting for possible investment. And this site looks like a great place to start and learn. Thanks everyone.

Greetings fellow Pickers! I'm new to the site. Not new to lego. New to collecting/investing. I'm nurpey on BrickLink should any of you had purchases from me. I haven't opened a store yet as I'm still sorting through the many of lots I've purchased. My lego experience began when I was 10 and got the Black Monarch castle. It was stored away for decades (ok, maybe one decade). My nephew recently had my parents dig it out of the attic last year, and the fever began. I'll go into more detail in some other forums because I have some questions and would like to get some feedback, but for now, I'm here and I hope to contribute a little here and there. …

Hi everyone, I am newer to Lego investing and collecting. I'd like to say thanks for the great information on this site as well as the great discussions that are in the message boards. I've enjoyed Legos for years but only recently have started buying sets again. I recently took advantage of the LOTR clearance at the Walmart locations near me. I now have Helm's Deep, Mines of Moria, Orc Forge, Attack on Weathertop, Gandalf Arrives, and Urak-hi Army. I bought 2x of a couple of those sets. Now I just need to find some money to pick up a Tower of Orthanic! Thanks again for a great site! Josh

Hello everyone, This is the first topic I have started on brick picker even though I have had a user name for a few months now. Let me start out by saying. Hello, my name is Michael I'm 24 years old and I have always been a fan of Lego. As a child they quickly became my favorite toy to play with. In my teenage years I stopped playing with them but still remembered the great times I had when I was younger. About 5 years ago I started buying sets again just for myself to play around with in my free time . In the last couple years I have become a total addict, Well I live in a small house and even though I have a spare bedroom devoted to Lego ( The Lego room as my wife ca…

Hi guys, Just wanted to introduce myself. I've always sort of been a collector like a lot of you. Back in the day ('85) it was GI Joe, (which I still have all of in near mint condition ) and baseball cards, etc. My brother and I also had a huge Lego set growing up that we used to build stuff with all of the time. It was one of the funnest toys we ever had. So, I've re-discovered Lego recently and have started collecting LOTR/Hobbit sets and had almost forgotten how fun all of this was. Good to be here!

  8. Hi my Name is Dimi, and i started investing in Lego 3 weeks ago. now i will stop buying and start waiting nice forum so far. Living in germany

  9. Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to drop in and say hi. Just started getting into the Lego collecting/investing but have been into Legos in general for a long time. Never really saw Legos as being an investment option but stumbled along an article awhile ago that then pointed me to this site and have been hooked ever since. Hope to meet and get to know more people in this community and learning more about the investing side of things.

Finally started a post after been lurking for a while. I've always been an LEGO fan and a co-worker of mine introduced me to someone he knows who is a full-time LEGO investor. I started researching this site and found out that I just opened (an unopened) the Naboo Swamp for my 4 year old son to play with about 3 months ago. Ohh well! Anyways today I made my first purchase into LEGO investing. A couple of Friends sets and Minecraft. I have my wife's thumbs up on the scheme.

  11. Hello all! I've doing this (without working at it) for years...just now decided to utilize the BrickPicker site to track values. Near as I can figure, everything is pretty accurate as far as values go. Keep in mind that eBay is not your only outlet for selling - although it may be easiest to track, which is the key here. I will be adding all my sets as I have time - feel free to check it out. I will NOT be cataloguing the 250,000 + loose pieces and unboxed sets I have, though. I'm sure you understand. Thanks for having me!

Hello all Thought I should make my first post after joining a couple of weeks ago and spending several hours/days reading through lots of very intresting and informative discussions. I had always enjoyed lego and now my son is old enough to build sets we usually buy one as a treat for him to build and add to his collection. I would regularly check for announcements of new sets and also kick myself that I had thought about buying a set that has since been retired so thought maybe it may be time to start investing! I've no idea how exactly I stumbled across this site in particular but I am glad I did. I was amazed at some of the stockroom pictures! I have …

Howdy, I am new to Brickpicker but have been around Brickset for awhile and selling Lego on and off again to sustain my addiction. I am from Texas but I work in Cameroon, Africa most of the time so I don't often get to do much building. Favorite themes include Castle, Star Wars, Superheros, and City although I often get sucked into at least one or two sets in just about every theme that gets released. Looking forward to meeting you all and joining the discussions.

ive always been fascinated with lego, but as a child growing up, i never owned many of them. i had 1 bucket filled with a various assortment of building blocks, both name brand and generic, but never specific lego sets. now that i have a son (only 7 months...not quite ready for legos...yet) i find myself looking at all the new sets muttering to myself "well,, ill get that one...and that one....maybe that one too." but i'm wondering do i want these for him, or for myself? so here's where my confusion sets in... where should i start with legos? not just as an investment, but also as toys for my son? there's just so many out there, i get confused. im not look…

Hi, Just wanted to say glad to be a member here and thank you for helping me learn so much on protecting myself for the future. I have watched the threads and realized I am in a great community where everyone is honest here and by doing some research found out a few people are not perfect, but we don't to be afraid and can speak our mind about the hobby and what to watch out for as far as the bad guys. I respect people here and see that just because we are using secret codes, terms or deleting threads that is not sneaky or being afraid of scammers because they are not smart enough to catch on. So thank you and am not doing much today ,but putting together some rea…

I started out buying lego with the intention of an investment, now many many months / years on I have collected a sizeable portfolio mainly consisting of larger UCS, modular, starwars, superheros etc from SSD, PS, GE, TH, TB, HH, imperial shuttles, VW, sopwith camel and so on.... My problem is now letting go, that is if I want to - I haven't sold a single set yet, not that I've tried, I just keep saying to the wife (and myself) that it's a waiting game for retirement, maximising returns etc Lego is taking over my house, my life... The wife isn't too happy - it's everywhere, I've spent thousands and she gets frustrated as thinks the money would be better spent elsew…

  21. I was shocked to find out that, after all these years, I still had my somewhat large collection of space lego from 1978-1982. My wife told me it was in our storage room, and lo and behold, she was right - I had no clue for 12 years! So I gave it to my son for Christmas, and we've been building the original sets, using online copies of the original instruction manuals. I'm actually looking to expand the collection, not as an investor, but for constructive play for my children. As such, I don't really care about condition or whether it comes in the original boxes, etc. I have noticed that the market values listed on this very organized site are about half of what they …

  22. Hello everyone! I just discovered BrickPicker today while browsing the internet, as I was looking to restart a hobby that I loved as a kid: Buying and selling Legos. I am 16 and used to make some solid cash on eBay selling my "old" Lego sets during my pre-teen years (they weren't old, they were mostly newer from 06 and 07...but I had just started to climb out of my "Dark Ages" at that time, so calling them that was my only way of moving on!) I mostly loved Star Wars, and had a large collection of some of today's highest valued SW sets, but sold them without knowing what their value would be right now (I still made a solid profit on them, though ) I have some of my …

Hello All, I ran into this site awhile back when doing some research on Legos for my son. Long and the short, he was really wanting the latest Star Destroyer that came out, but when we got around to Christmas shopping, it was sold out. Tried to find it everywhere, but was not successful. However, I did run across this site, which was rather interesting. The night before I found this site, my wife showed me that infamous article about Legos being worth more than gold, and we had a good chuckle. Then, while searching, I found this site, and saw the Lego investing was quite a serious bit of business. As someone who works regularly with securities investments and a…

Hi ever one. I new to this site and was referred to it by a friend from Germany. I myself hail from the Chicago Suburbs. I am an extreme enthusiast and have collected Lego for years. I only ever realized the online aspect and communities 2 years ago while searching for a convention. I haven't been able to make Brickworld, I think it is called in the past years though. I have many unopened sets going back to 1977. I myself wasn't created from lego like cells until 1984. I buy a lot of lego, do a lot of customs or MOCs. Speaking of which, viewing others creations is one of my favorite things to do. I live within 5 minutes of a Lego Store, a Lego Discovery …

Hi, I am new to the world of collecting Legos , I must confess that I stumbled into it by accident. We went shopping to Laredo Texas, about a two hour drive from home, and one of the last stops before we go back is Wal-Mart, so I was doing nothing in particular, just waiting for my wife to spend the last pesos remaining on my debit card after her crazed shopping spree, and I was walking by the toy section of the store and there they were a whole aisle of Legos, perfectly aligned and I could care less about them but something cached my eye, I saw red labels on them, so I approached slowly towards a 9493 X-Wing Fighter, and the red label read 35.00 USD, I guess I …
