Really Non LEGO Stuff

Whether LEGO related or just anything fun and interesting, talk about it here.

There is good and bad in every day. Share what was good or what was bad. Just a thread to share what happened in your day.

For anyone that wants a place to express their frustration...here ya go. Whoever got to TRU a minute before me when it opened and bought 6 of the 7 VC's and left me with the dented one. Arg!!!

If there is one thing I have learned, it's that music truly is the most universal language in the world. Besides myself looking for yet another excuse to post anything at all or just a good one to post music videos, I would like everyone here to feel free to post links to some of your favorite tunes and/or talk about what you like to listen to. Consider this thread your very own little "House of Blues" as it were. Anyway as for an opening post, I had some difficulty trying to think of a good opener, a nice ice breaker everyone may enjoy, and well I came up with this. Enjoy. Disclaimer: Everyone has their own likes & dislikes which includes their listening preferen…

Since we have a pretty popular "Complaint Thread", I thought it might be a good idea to start an "I Love It! Thread". I'd like to begin with: I love it when I make a big $500 or more purchase because of a sale or great deal and shortly afterward make enough back in sales to cover the costs and then some. It helps with the buyer's guilt.

  5. Hi all - I've noticed a lot of talk about kids, their likes and dislikes, complaints, and all sorts of other things, seeping into a bunch of other topics. So, why don't we all just talk about them here? I'll start moving some posts here. We've been talking everything from Minecraft, to potty training, to Thomas the Tank trains.

  6. It's funny cause its true!!! lol!

  7. Hi guys, so was doing some reading on wired today... saw this http://www.wired.com/opinion/2013/05/lets-cut-through-the-bitcoin-hype/ This is the wikipedia page that tells you about Bitcoin (if you were as clueless as I was about it two years ago) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin What do you guys think about a new currency like this? Would it help or hurt online sales, both Legal and otherwise. Do you think it would help lego investors as being an easier way to transfer funds..? Just thought it could be fun to talk about..

Note: Invest at your own risk. Do you own homework before buying / selling. Don’t assume advice posted here is financially sound. Wanted to create an investment thread about stocks and how market conditions can impact those investments. Thought about creating one in 2020 but with COVID & other items going on, I didn’t. Instead, I posted in a similar thread on another non-investing web site. Posts can include topics relating to individual securities : stocks, bonds, options, indices, & ETFs. Sharing informative links encourage. Please DON’T get political or posts will be removed.

Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings. Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it en…

  10. Sorry this isn't lego related, so I'll try to be brief, but I'm not sure where else to turn for advice. My friend's dad just passed away and my friend inherited 30+ containers full of unopened model trains, tracks and accessories. I'm guessing over $10,000 retail worth of train stuff. But trains aren't as popular as lego, so does anybody have any advice how we could unload this huge lot, other than parting it out and selling it on ebay and craigslist? I already looked on facebook and couldn't find any train groups here in houston, and there's only one local train collector hobby shop.... thanks in advance guys!

  11. I thought this would be a fun topic to start. Mods, if you feel differently then please feel free to delete it. We have all heard or been a part of the same story. You spent a bunch of money on some "toys", with the intention of reselling them in the future for more than what you paid for them. Meanwhile, your spouse was ready to have you committed to the looney bin, until you bought them this with some of your profits. I'll start... We have had a pool since we bought our home twelve years ago. Wisconsin winters can be a bit harsh, and this past winter Mother Nature decided that it was time for our old pool to go. She had her way with it, and reduced it to a pile of scr…

Kid is in 9th grade and interested in computer programming/science. He is currently taking a web programming course and is participating on a school team in the 2014 picoCTF. Future courses offered at the school are additional web programming, Java, Advanced Java and AP Computer Science. His home machine is currently an older Quad core, 3 Gb Ram desktop running Windows XP. It doesn't seem to be keeping up any more. I am looking for suggestions of system requirements for a new desktop or laptop for him to use over the next few years in these courses. Reading through the forums, it appears that many of you are well versed in this area. Thanks

  17. Well this is the year. Both my boys have birthdays this month and we are going to start watching the Star Wars saga. I've been waiting to watch it with them (ever so patiently) to make sure they are old enough to handle, process and fully enjoy the movies. Yes I'm one of those dads that censors what my kids watch. Now on to the ultimate question. Should we watch the movies in the order that most of us on here watched them? Obviously we didn't have the luxury of watching the movies in the order of the story, but now we do. My overwhelming hunch is to watch them in the order that I did as a kid, but feel free to chime in. Have any of you re-watched the entire SW saga starti…

  21. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/08/20/computer-virus-data-breach-ups/14365491/ Some customers of The UPS Store may have had their credit and debit card information exposed by a computer virus found on systems at 51 stores in 24 states. A spokeswoman for UPS says the information includes names, card numbers and postal and email addresses from about 100,000 transactions between Jan. 20 and Aug. 11. United Parcel Service Inc. said Wednesday that it was among U.S. retailers who got a Department of Homeland Security bulletin about the malware on July 31. The malware is not identified by current anti-virus software. The company is not aware of an…

  22. So...anyone else an Olympics junkie like me? There's quite a few sports that I enjoy watching. Just wondering if anyone else is going to be watching this stuff for the next two weeks like I will be. Some of my favorites sports are Volleyball (beach and indoor, male and female), Road Bike Race, Marathon, Diving, Swimming, Rowing, and Rugby. What about everyone else? I'm psyched that "my girl", Kerri Walsh-Jennings is playing tonight.

Just me curiously asking who all plays this trading card game or while I am it any of the others available? Depending on how this conversation goes, I may just form a singular topic for all trading card game discussion whether physical or digital form.
