What are some good sets that are nearing there E.O.L that would be excellent investments? Because nobody wants to miss the boat!!!! And let's divide the sets into Small, Medium, and Large. What are the HOTTEST buys as of right now? We have small collectors/Investors and we have Big collectors/Investors like Ed Mack, who probably has acres of massive storage units. Lol I was thinking 5 small sets, 5 medium sets, and 5 large sets....but they have to be on there way out or nearing E.O.L. Any thoughts let us know. Hope this will be a good topic!

See title - this is the type of query I'd love to do - is there a LEGO-related site available out there that lets me build a database query with following at minimum?: Set Year Number of Pieces MSRP (price of brick can be inferred using Number of Pieces and MSRP anyway)

Today I received my Grand Emporium from LEGO Shop at Home, and the box was creased and dented in several places. I am thinking of returning it, however it came with the 40180, Balloon Cart Promo gift. If I return it will I be expected to ship that back with it, and If i decide to buy a new one, what are the odds that I will receive a second Balloon Cart?

Hello, I'll have a chance to visit a Lego Store in Anaheim in the first week of november. (I'm Canadian and the nearest Lego Store for me is 800km from where I live!) Can I except some deals/clearances at this time of year or it's totally random? And it's possible for me to use my canadian VIP point in the US? And anyone know if it's possible to ask to ship at a Canadian address?

Dear Lego, I actively love building sets. I love the detail of the minifigures. I love the creative licences. But the world knows you have been charging ridiculous premiums for your product outside the US. The international market has tolerated it for so long. As discussed previously Amazon US has been coerced (whether it be temporarily or permanently) directly from Lego into ceasing international shipping. In recent years Amazon has been a hub for many international buyers to score Lego at cheaper costs than their local retail prices. Yet now the screws are being tightened. Lego has been banning users, placing limitations and now this. I thought it was ludicrous ea…

How do you determine what sets you will buy? Price per piece - playability - theme - gut feeling.

Hi all. I am new to this forum and just came out of my dark years. For the last 3 months I've tried to grab all the sets I could before they were discontinued, (at the cost of makin' my wife mad, but that's another topic ).Considering I am Italian (and I work for an Italian company, so I earn euros) but I live in Japan, I could partially benefit of the huge rise of the european currency compared to the yen (currently the euro-yen exchange is more or less 1:144,5). Anyway. I noticed from the start that lego in Usa are considerably cheaper that in the rest of the world. Still, Lego seemed to somehow fix prices according to the different currencies, at least to a certain ext…

Got from sah recently, noticed that seal codes were different, identical on one side and doubled taped on other side with different code. Seals underneath look like they were cut. Has anyone seen this before? Does sah reseal sets that are open box returns?

the majority of participants in the forum are from US and when they're talking about the attractiveness of a theme, they referred it to the US market but there is a big difference, for a set/theme, depending on the country? what are the themes not so strong in europe as they are in US?

So TRU are doing their annual Easter £10 gift card giveaway for purchases of £40; SAH will shortly giveaway the mini VW Beatle for purchase of £35 and next month will giveaway the R2 along with double vip or 10% off as part of May the 4th. So question is, is here anything that's worth getting to get these giveaways? I was looking in TRU today and apart from a couple of constraction figures that were 35% off there was nothing that looked anything remotely interesting from a personal perspective never mind for investment purposes. Thoughts?

If you've been to any Disney parks you know what these are. I'm just wondering if any one else collects these? since this is a collecting site. I have 132 of them and got lucky and have the most expensive one, park #1 chaser, it sells for around $500.

I was wondering how you guys all display your sets and minifigures. Do you use Acrylic Cases for the musuem quality dust free look. Most importantly what do you think of these cases. Link I am thinking about doing something similar and wondering where I can find these cases for purchase. Hopefully some of you super deal hunters know of a good site.I think they are about the size you would use for a deck of cards but without the outside clasps almost an AFA look. Please Help. THANKS

Anyone have any good recommendations for display stand sellers in the US? Is it generally just go to Ebay/Etsy? I'm more interested in acrylic stands/cases. I see a lot of cool UK stores but haven't had much luck finding US websites to reduce shipping and time. Thanks!

I plan to build a large table for my daughter and I to play on. I have some larger sets that I would like to open up and build. I thought it would be nice to have a thread around the topic, as I'm sure a large percentage of us have some type of lego table. Does anyone have experience building their own table for play? Any thoughts on what you would or would not do again, if you had another chance? Any designs that worked well or poorly? Feel free to share pics. Thanks!

When I started investing, I was able to get, 10%, maybe a little more off of sets (most were retired just still on shelf). Then I moved my way to 20-25% off with a few 50% off sets mixed in. Over the past month or so I have been finding 50-75% off sets easily. Does this make you hesitant to jump at 25% off sets? I keep looking at deals on Amazon now and actually thinking that they aren't as great.

I know that probably this has been talked about a lot over here. But it just kicked me this morning, with all the frenzy going on about Lego investing and being the modular sets one of the flagships of this trend made me wonder, is it really worth it to invest in a set that will be owned by a LOT of people? I know that different facts come into this, shelf time one of the most important ones, but having in mind that Grand Emporium and the Fire Brigade are still out there (words come and go about these two going EOL pretty soon but we've been hearing them for a while now) and assuming that all the newest modulars will follow the same path, won't every one who has hea…

So, I have a few sets tucked away right now that are doing well but I keep eyeing to build for myself. Right now, the stacks are comprised of the Imperial Flagship, Fire Brigade and Shuttle expedition, I only have 3-5 of each but every time I think about opening one, I realize that in doing so, I am becoming a person who pays way over MSRP for EOL lego (a chump in my book!). Even though I bought the sets for under MSRP, the cost to me of opening and building it is the same as buying one at inflated secondary market prices due to the loss of sale. These are all sets that I bought extra of in order to build one or even two for myself but now that I am seeing how well…

I am curious how many people display boxes and fully boxed sets. I displayed my box behind my Delorean because it looks really good. I would think the crawler would be a good one to display as well. What does everyone else do?

As most on this site are grown men, myself included, do you ever feel creepy, dirty, almost guilty when you go into a store and buy multiples of the same Lego sets? I haven't been able to convince myself to buy any of the Friends sets in store, as it just doesn't feel right.
