Hello, I have started running a Bricklink store over the past few months and I am growing well and making very good sales but I need some advice on how I can accurately figure profits. I keep great books and have all my costs/sales kept track of but when I am parting out there is no way to figure just one set when I sell individual parts. So as I sell, I am continually buying new sets with the money that comes out so essentially no matter how much I sell it appears as though I am losing money when truly I am just growing. Any advice on how I could actually figure a true profit amount would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi everyone, first time posting on here. Ordered a Slave 1 via Lego online and it was a bit damaged on arrival so sent it back for an exchange. The second one arrived in the post yesterday and there was a thumbnail sized bash in the corner. Was planning to keep the set unopened. Do you think a minor bash like this will affect the value or am I being a bit over the top with my concern. Have been in touch with Lego again and they have offered another swap, but am wondering if I'll just end up with another slightly bashed box and get stuck in a never ending cycle of returns. I've attached a picture so you can see.

I'm sure there's already an answer, but I don't know where to look. I have decided to Frankenstein my very own Green Grocer 10185. I am curious to know if there is a way to cross reference the inventory of a specific set vs. the pieces on my wish list. For example, I have a 10197 Creative Tower. I would like to use a function to find which pieces I should pull out to put towards my project. Is there a mechanism for this already? Via Bricklink or elsewhere? Please advise. Thanks!

First question: Has anyone else ever discovered a great trick to keeping track of the various rod lengths/numbers with set pieces is to place them over the side of a 1x15 (or smaller) technic brick? For example: If the rod covers 5 holes, it's a 5. If it covers 8 holes it's an 8 and so on and so forth etc. etc. I am currently building a Ferrari 1:8 that I bought as a bunch of mixed up pieces and sets in a big tattered box. Like the Batmobile I built before it, I have been forced to use the build instructions courtesy of cache.lego. This is great until you want to figure out proper rod lengths as measuring the exact size isn't an option especially on an…

Looking for 48x48 stud (15"x15") white base plates. Does Lego make them or do I need to go 3rd party? I need suggestions for a trustworthy Lego compatible company if that's the case.

Is there a Thread dedicated to Exclusive? It would be helpful for people who don't keep up 100% with all the sets released. I think knowing where Exclusives can be found would be great! I searched for a Exclusives thread, could not locate. Thoughts?

Is a list somewhere of dates when older sets were retired? This seems like an important metric since that is when the CAGR starts going up. But I can't find historic retirement dates for most sets.

Hey all- My house has pretty deep closet shelves. To this point I have been able to stack three to four sets one in front of the other (so essentially you only see the front set). This has worked out but has the disadvantages of not utilizes full space potential because storing horizontally take up about 20" per set, and also I can only see the front set. i would like to turn the sets sideways, increasing storage space dramatically, allowing me to see all of my sets, and only taking up a few inches of horizontal space per set. The problem is that by doing this I will overhang the shelf. If I stack the set vertically, the overhang is only 2-3 in…

I got one of the postings on Craig's List. The one we always dream about. A young lady offered to sell her duplo: 10515 princess Ariel http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=10515-1 for just $10. I bought it. Factory sealed. It's amazing. I asked her where she got it. She said she thinks Amazon. I checked Amazon, $80+. I kind of feel bad for the girl. But it I have two questions, that kind of go together. Why is this set so valuable? It's Duplo! And should I hold on, or flip it? The questions go together because i don't understand why it's so expensive, and since I dont understand I fear it's a bubbl…

I don't know if anyone can offer an opinion on this. I am in the uk. My wife and I have got really into investing in Lego Over the last couple of years and it is great fun. we started by buying a number of large sets eg SSD and HH. Our plan is to hold large sets as we buy them for about 5 years. to help pay for the bigger purchases we started buying and selling minifigures and flipping smaller sets. We have set this up properly as a business and declared it to the inland revenue. The business has done well in its first year and I am clear that we will pay income tax on profits having done a tax return at the end of the year. My qu…

Hi everybody, Happy new year! I am new at the forum because I am looking for feedback on a idea that I have. I am working on a lego rental service for my hometown (Amsterdam). The legosets for rental that I am thinking about are the more special sets (16+ series) to attract a older target audience. I now have for rental set 10220, 10221 and 10234. My guess is that people like to rent a set so that they can build without the cost and without having to deal with the lego after they are done with it. I found out that there are many services like this (in the states) and I am curious on your point of view on this services and if you can give me feedback …

Are all the Lego Buildings like the 10243 Parisian Restaurant, Pet shop, 10246 Detective’s Office and others the same depth? I am thinking displaying them on a shelf, but not sure how deep the shelf would have to be. Any one have any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi folks, I seem to be having a problem with my 42009 crane mkII. I've built the main body of the crane and found that when I've wound the gear to extend the legs out only the front ones extend out for some reason and not the rear set. Problem number two is with the superstructure with all the gears. I've built it twice following the instructions. Each time with the connecting pin that goes from there to the main crane body won't turn for some reason either. I am kind of at a loss as to why it is happening. Is there any ideas folks?? Many thank

Hi all... I was thinking about selling some pieces from my personal collection and was wondering how one goes about pricing items? I'm not talking sets... I create small displays, film logos, star wars signs... all sorts. Would I price these on a per piece basis with a bit of time on top? Or what is anyone experience with this? If any sets are involved they tend to be to add to the pieces I'm making... All of my signs and logos come with bespoke stands and I only make one of everything... any advice appreciated. Sorry if this is on the wrong place...

Hello! Each Christmas my wife and I participate in the "Angel Tree" project by buying gifts for children whose parents are in prison. This year I immediately focused on one for a 14 year-old male who desires LEGO. The gift has to be valued at $25-$30. So I need to fight my desire to use Kmart Voodoo and get a $60 set since the goal is that all children (when there are multiple in a family) feel like they are being treated equally. With that said, I'm not 100% sure I know what a 14 year-old male would be interested in. I feel like that is too old for Ninjago. Am I wrong? Was leaning towards Super Heroes or maybe Star Wars. The price range has me look…

My 6-year old son would really like to start getting into the train sets. This is a theme in Lego I do not know much about. What would you recommend in the $200-$300 range? (This would be his only big Christmas gift.) He builds at the level of a teen, so I'm not worried about complexity. (He did tower bridge recently to give you context.) I have access to reasonably priced 3677, but I'm not crazy about it. Opinions? And what add-ons would you recommend? Eg track, station, etc... thank you you for your help!
