So unfortunately have to move and been searching for tips on how to pack/move numerous large assembled sets (UCS/Creator Experts/etc). Not sure bubble wrapping all these sets and purchasing plastic bins like I'm seeing in google searches is most cost effective, but wanting to know from the experts here. I'm also hesitant for the moving company to be careful with these so figure I'd have to pack my car, but wife looking at me all crazy since she doesn't believe these are a priority =). It's a 6hr drive and even debated making a couple of trips in the 5 day span. Any advice? Much appreciated!

We all know the benefits of large sets in our collections, large sets are winners, they are the most sought after, the most rare, the most memorable, and the ones most easily passed on because people may not have the money at a given point in time. They have the added benefit of increasing sale amounts which gets you more money for less time spent selling. In reviewing many of the members with large collections on here (~$50,000+) it seems that a lot of their inventories are in smaller sets (under $75 msrp) and many with really small sets (under $40 msrp). I am curious why there is such disparity between the sets we talk about and want to invest in, and the ones we…

As you can see here: http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/11134-my-vintage-lego-haul/ I will be going through about ten years worth of Lego over the next week or so. Some of the containers are actual sets that I will keep together. However, two of the larger tubs are bulk, miscellaneous pieces. I am thinking of starting by dividing the bulk by color and putting each color into Ziploc bags. Does anyone with more experience have any tips? Thanks!

So I started on a mad frenzy of a superhero mini figure collection today. Buying all kinds on brick link and eBay. I was putting together a prototype of a display and going through mine and my dads boxes of LEGO for pieces I could use to sit the figures on, and I come across a large bag of something that immediately catches my eye. What seems to look like a whole bag of night wings from Arkham Asylum. As well as batman masks and joker heads. I nearly fell over. I ran upstairs to ask where did we get these??? My dad would never have anything fake. After asking, he tells me "Oh yeah, Lego sent me those as a favor for when I hosted Lego night at our local …

Good morning! As some may know, I am in the process of thinking about moving and have began boxing up my sets individually (know as the emazers method, thanks Ed). The thought is that although they will take up more space for storage, if I box them up properly now they will be able to handle the stress of moving. In addition, when it is time to sell I only have to post the listing one ebay (etc) and if/when the item sells I grab it off the shelf slap a postage label on it and drop it off. All of my sets have been photographed, packaged carefully in new Staples boxes using kraft paper as packing material, weighed and labeled with set number-quantity and …

I have a few of each and someone is asking to trade their Bespin Duel for one of my Nebulon. Currently it looks like both sets run ~$80 on Ebay, but it seems like Bespin Duel has had more opportunities to purchase, making it a little easier to get, and potentially won't see as much of a % increase over time vs the Nebulon? Is that fair logic? I'm thinking I will decline the request.. Thoughts?

So 2017 has given us new and improved SW UCS Milf and Snowspeeder, a massive Ninjago Cty, a rocket, the biggest ever modular and Minecraft sets, a London Bus, Fishing Store and that POTC ship that seemed to be love or hate, amongst other sets. We even got a big Nexi castle. It´s been a weak year for Technic and Architecture fans, though. Is this the strongest year so far for 1000 part and above sets or can you remember a better one NOT FROM AN INVESTMENT STANDPONT but rather as a fan of Lego? If you can, please say which and why stood out for you.

I am wondering from the more seasoned collectors and investors what their view of vintage lego is. Firstly, how old does Lego need to be before it is considered to be vintage? Are we referring to sets that are 10, 20 or 30 years old? Secondly, does the set need to have the box? I know of collectors who have kept the box even when the set has been played with but if you have the complete set, does that not constitute the greater portion of the value? I also wonder what your views are on sets that are "almost complete" or "complete with substituted parts". I have seen a number of listings where this is noted however it is better to says so than to mislead the custo…

I open and display many of my Lego sets (Modular Buildings, UCS Ships). Most of these sets have been built and displayed for just over a year. I'm worrying that keeping them built for a prolonged period of time might damage their clutch power and make them much looser, thus reducing their value in the long term. I recently picked up a 10179 that was never broken down and just thrown in a bin in one piece for about 5 years. I spent a month breaking it down and rebuilding it, and most of it (Plates, large bricks) were still snug while building, but a lot of smaller 1 and 2-stud pieces would fall off if I held the set upside down and shook I'm only conce…

Targeted more to you heavy hitters, Does anyone suggest an App/Tool/Suite for inventory tracking? Something you can use your cell phone or a tablet or a Bluetooth barcode scanner to scan items and automatically have them entered into a program or spreadsheet or database of any sort? Obviously, some customisability would be nice - I'd like to be able to enter cost paid, date purchased, etc. I've seen some stuff to relatively easily scan and import things into Excel, but I was wondering if anyone strongly suggested a particular way to go about this. I am trying to improve my methods. Any input appreciated.

Does anyone here use their reseller permit to avoid paying sales tax on their LEGO purchases? Obviously not at the LEGO store as you'd be banned immediately I've finally made an actual (read: legal) business of this whole thing and can't find the information I need about this little permit. If I use it, am I obligated to charge sales tax to the people who buy from me? Is there a reason to NOT use it other than being labeled as a reseller?

Hello fellow Bpers We had a pretty significant basement flood last night and luckily very few of my Sets were damaged, only about $400 worth of sets had any water on them (biggest casualty was a complete soaked Tower of Orthanc). Let me tell ya... muscle rack shelves elevate and work well! All that to say the water is continuing to poor in but we have it relatively “maintained” but the basement is still wet. The Question I have is how long can a lego box hangout in a wet basement (without direct contact to water) before it starts to absorb moisture and damage the box? Thanks in advance Note: Yes I have insurance and have started a claim for damaged legos and ot…

I am new to lego collecting. I see people talk about flipping sets such as the tumbler. How is it that anyone can sell an item for above MSRP? I can buy the tumbler from lego shop for 199 and yet someone out there is willing to pay $250-$300 on eBay? Appreciate the insight.

I'm lucky enough to be able to dedicate a small room to displaying my Lego sets. I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to display them. I think my ideal solution would be to build clear shelves on all walls, floor to ceiling. However, from what I've seen acrylic thick enough to serve as a shelf is going to cost quite a bit. The other option would be to build some standard wood shelves (painted white). My concern with wood shelves is that it would cause issues being able to view the sets as you get toward the ceiling. I'm seeking suggestions on material, sourcing of material, design or whatever ideas you may have. Please share your photos if you have designed…
