Just a random thought but when (if) you display your sets, do you separate the yellow minifigs from the flesh ones? Say you have Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. sets that some of the early licensed sets used the yellow while the newer ones used the flesh... do you display them all together? Maybe it's just my OCD but when they're all together it looks... weird.

I am slowly building my own City in a spare room I have. I was contemplating putting in real water in certain places for boats, fountains, pools, etc. Does anyone know if being in water long-term does any damage to Lego pieces? (Btw I would only use bottled water)

I’ve been working on the new AT-AT and I’ve got an issue that I just can’t figure out. On step 111 it acts like I should just be able to push the belly down onto the frame but when I put the belly in place it just sits there. It’s so loose if I turned the frame over it would just fall right out. I can’t see anything in the manual or on the frame that should hold the belly in place. If you can help I would really appreciate it, this is driving me nuts

Alright so I just got a couple of bins that include 10 Star Wars sets assumed to be complete. What is the best way to sort them? I have never done it before. Sort them by color all at once, then try to put them together? Just build them one by one out of the bin? Try to sort the obvious pieces first and then just sort them set by set? I am a bit lost. lol.

Hi guys, Earlier this year my wife and I "completed" our journey out of the dark ages (thanks again to this community for making that possible for a -relatively- reasonable amount). Having acquired all of the retired sets we wanted (within reason, sorry UCS Falcon and Grand Carousel), my wife mused that our city needed a zoo. I agreed, so I decided to make one. I posted a MOC a few months ago but this is my first end-to-end, all the bells and whistles effort at something special. It took about 10-12 weeks. I built it and my wife provided constant feedback, answering "what do you think of this?" and "how does this look?" over and over hahah. I also received input…

The last Lego sets I put together were in the early 80's (space sets). I haven't opened any of the stuff I've bought over the last two years, and don't really have the desire to.

If you like Star Wars and chess then check out this superb MOC by Brandon Griffith (icgetaway on flickr). Brilliant design of character 'pieces' and the 'built-in' storage under the board. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Lego Chess by Brandon Griffith

I searched and didn't see this one but if it already exists mods please merge. So I was breaking down my Tumbler, selling it as used, and I was just amazed at the level of complexity to this build. It gave me a new appreciation for some of the different techniques that are used when I was taking it apart So what were some of your most challenging builds and why? This may help others select their next set or help them avoid one. My top 3 easiest to hardest: 3. United Nations, after 40 years of not playing with Lego I saw this set at BN and those translucent blue tiles were just calling my name, little did I know what I was getting into. As a kid I just did f…

I have a plastic tub of lego from my childhood that I have in the basement. I have moved a couple times since I last used them, probably when I was about 12. they have been in the same container and although I would never get rid of them, I always figured they would be for my kids, if I ever had them. I never gave them a second thought and completely ignored the toy aisles at stores before I had kids of my own. I was thinking to myself the other day, since I have probably enough lego now to fill a U-Haul- what was my first new set when my interest was rekindled? its taken me a few days but I have finally tracked it back to the blacksmith attack on sale at target for…

Started looking around at what's out there. The best thing I could find were both IKEA solutions. Either a series of LACK coffee tables (about $80 / 4x8 space) or a build-your-own table using: 1x http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00251135/ 4x http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90217972/ I like the table better because it will be higher. Each one is about 2x4 and runs $20 a table, so about the same price as 8 LACKs. The other option seems to be plywood and folding legs, which runs about 70$ a table and requires sanding, sealing, and painting. For $10 I'll go the IKEA route. I think I will start with 4 tables and expand from there.…

Over at Classic-Castle is the beginning of new contest titled "Castle goes to Space". If I am properly understanding the terms correctly, the core concept is to take an officially released set either Space related (Star Wars, Alien Conquest, Futuron, etcetera) and transform it into a Castle themed one or from the Castle side (Knights Kingdom, Vikings, Ninja, The Hobbit, so on) and turn it into a Space type design. (In short, Castle -> Space or Space -> Castle.) Here is a good example from a prior contest where the entry had 'Castlefied' set 7749 Echo Base from Star Wars. I suspect some ideas have better possibilities in making the transition from one era to the …

In the endless fires at the center of the dark world by the rocks of despair sounds a voice. It is a black, evil Voice that creates and controls vile powers harvested through toxic energies. Winding wings catch the dark air while unyielding bones march trough flames. Even the one from above cannot hide from it. Some say the castle lives, some say the Voice is dead. Someone could be a fool. The Voice of Evil (Not related but somehow the tune fits and just makes this MOC that more awesome. )

I been reading about custom modular building, the link below sell instruction guide and his creation is really good. Before buying his instructions, will it be easy for me to gather the required bricks? Will it cost too much? http://www.brickcitydepot.com/city-building-instructions.html

Okay, there simply are just too many of these space frigates to put all in one post let alone the amount of time taken just to sort a few is ridiculous. Therefore a handful will posted at a time and within a spoiler. With any luck doing so will maintain this topic's page from becoming ludicrously long and keep image loading to a minimum. Well anyway, here are just some of this entries for SHIPtember 2015 with tons more on the way! ....I'm not even kidding on that. There is like close to a hundred of these things.

I am pleased to announce my most complicated and rewarding build, the Lykan Hypersport. The lego car blog: https://thelegocarblog.com/2017/02/16/you-cant-put-a-price-on-exclusivity/ Flickr album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskUnVDew It all started with framework. I had to design it so it wouldn't have any motors in the back or the front of the wheels. Most of my previous builds have been too large in those areas, so I tried create more room with this build. This is a really early version of the framework.. a lot has been changed for the final version Some of my main goals for this build were to create as many realistic functions possible…

Just got my pirate ship ambush from walmart.com and when I opened it up there were no minifigures inside whatsoever. The box was minty and sealed, and all the bags were sealed but somehow this happened. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

Lego fan builds world's longest toy train circuit out of 93,000 bricks - and it takes more than three hours to go round http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2364154/Lego-fan-builds-worlds-longest-toy-train-circuit-93-000-bricks.html I am personally not a fan. I want a townscape...some buildings etc. I guess it's kinda cool b/c that thing is HUGE but, that just does not look fun to me.
