Star Wars Sets

Whether you love them or hate them, the Star Wars™ Sets are a huge success!

I was wondering whether as the first three episodes (well maybe not episode III but definitely the first two), are often regarded as not particularly great films in the series, whether there is much value down the line in buying kits from these films? I don't recall there being many iconic characters-mini figs from these movies for example. The reason for my post, I saw the Bounty Ship 7930 and like the look of it (it's £65.00 on Amazon), but with fairly unremarkable mini figs would this be a kit to buy on the basis that it's already at its highest second hand resale value?

I've only recently stumbled upon the European paper bag sets. Is there a comprehensive listing of these somewhere? I see they are listed on BL, but under each movie, etc. I'm just wondering how to see what's out there, and what's coming.

With the rumored Ewok Village set due to be announced and possibly released later this year, does anyone think there may be some value in investing in the older ewok based sets? I'm thinking that if the Ewok Village is a large epic set as rumored then people may want to buy other ewok sets to pair with it for Endor type display builds. Sets in question are: 7139 Ewok Attack 7956 Ewok Attack 8038 The Battle of Endor

  6. Just yesterday, I had found at the LEGO endcap a display with three different STAR WARS polybags. Star Destroyer (set 30056) First available as a Walmart exclusive for the US in March of 2012. Then given on May 23 as a promotional item with the UK "The Sun" Newspaper. Was also available in Japan from "Gacha" Vending Machines. MTT (Multi Troop Transport) (set 30059) First available in Japan from "Gacha" Vending Machines. Then in Canada from Toy R Us in November 2012. Mini TIE Fighter (set 8028) Originally a promotional item primarily in the UK as far back as 2008 from a variety of sources. Supposedly, in the US some Walmart's still carry this and recently a few Target sto…

What set would you like to see from any incarnation of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Anything is fair game including comics, books, and video games. I would love to see an Outrider from Shadows of the Empire. A Dash Rendar with his droid. Oh yeah. I suppose I could MOC it with MF parts but I like Lego to do the creative work.

Now that Episode 7 is approaching I thought it would be fun and informational if we share some of our favorite sets. What is your top 5-10 list of Star Wars sets of all time? Please include set names if you don't mind (for newer investors like me). Hopefully these lists will reveal some sets some of us have overlooked. My top 5 would probably be: 1. 10179 M. Falcon 2. 10188 Death Star 3. 10221 Super Star Destroyer 4. 75060 Slave 1 5. 10225 R2 6-10 would be Red 5, Ewok Village, Sandcrawler, Tantive IV, Darth Tie I'm probably missing out on some awesome older sets...hopefully some veteran collectors share their list of favorites.

  9. Everyone has their favorite versions and it might not be the most recent. For me, I have not found an x-wing that I am satisfied with but 75136 is a really nice improvement for the Droid escape set and 75050 is a great B-Wing. I love the snowspeeder from the UCS Hoth set but will take the 75049 if I can't count a UCS version. What about you? Any definitive versions out there? How about those x-wings?

I would like maybe 4-5 first order stormtroopers just to fill out the FO Troop Transport. But they sell for about £5 each on eBay at the moment. Or I would need to buy two battle packs to achieve this quantity... Is it likely that they'll drop in price with the 2017 wave of Starwars sets? How can I get them as cheap as possible?

  13. Recently picked up a bunch of 75078 Imperial Troop Transport at $9.00 each from Walmart, my question is should I quickly flip them or hang on to them? already have flipped 2 at MRSP and am debating on the rest. Pros: Includes 4 Regular Stromtroopers, great for army building. Never saw a glut of them at any one time, thinking demand for them could be pretty good. Cons: Ship is pretty bland, while with some modifications it could be fixed up still I think it downs the value a bit. Any ideas?

Hi to all. I am a new member and imagine my sursprise to find a first edition 10179 Millenium Falcon in our loft. This had been a gift to our son several years ago, but he had never got around to making it. All the parts are still in the bags and we just opened the box (for the first time - perhaps a mistake ?) to check that the certificte is in place-which it is. There are a couple of scuffs on the outside of the box, but no tears and in nice overall condition. Having realised just what we had after a few searches on the model number, we are trying to understand if we should keep it for him as a future investment or if the time is right to sell it (has the pr…

Weiss are going from Winterfell to a galaxy far, far away. It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films. These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

  19. I left several of these on the shelves at 30% off. ($14 and $62 respectively). I have several of the Fury ships I got at 50% off during Kmart clearance, and I am just not convinced that at 30% there'll be enough gains, and the Cannon seems like it has been out a long time, and probably isn't that popular. Any thoughts? Should I just grab them anyway?

  20. Has any one seen the pictures of the new Lego Star Wars Rebel sets, 75048 Phantom and 75053 The Ghost yet? Looking great so far in my opinion, and what instantly caught my eye was the Stormtrooper with the leg printing that appears to be the same type printing that TLG had used on the Phase 2 Clone Trooper in the Clone Turbo Tank Microfighter set. What interests me is that, the wave after this one (or maybe even this one, but TLG hardly, if ever, releases battle packs during a summer wave) may include some type of Stormtrooper and Rebel battle packs? I probably won't even be touching the Rebel battle packs, unless they are of course the older Rebel Scout design used in th…

  22. So more than a couple of times Ed Mack, site owner and Lego extraordinaire, has mentioned that he thinks the movies with renew and revitalize Star Wars and cause old and current sets to skyrocket, etc. While this is an opinion held by a lot of people, I certainly think that there has been some skepticism as well because of all the re-releases, the possibility of the new movies being less than desirable, and the overproduction that seems to be staring Star Wars Lego in the face (over 40 sets every year). I honestly have been a skeptic. In the Lego beginnings (I wasn't a part of it), Star Wars sets were all great investments. Lately, that hasn't been the case, e…

Hello everybody - I just had a look at the SW UCS, and i have a question - where can I find a realiable overview for the series? http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Star-Wars/subtheme-Ultimate-Collector-Series http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Ultimate_Collector's_Series My doubt is about the 10236 Ewok Village and the 10188 Death Star. TLG doesn't see these sets as UCS, but who decides is they are or not?

This sounds pretty awesome, with origin stories for Yoda and Boba Fett expected after that. If the Falcon isn't part of Episode VII, it will certainly be featured heavily in Solo's origin movie since we need to see him win it, do the Kessel Run and smuggle stuff. http://moviepilot.com/articles/1202864-disney-moving-forward-with-star-wars-origin-story-due-to-land-in-2016 Now the big question - when to unload the UCS Falcons? If they don't release another Falcon, those things could be ridiculous. Of course, if they do make anything similar, the old ones could take a big hit...
