Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. I am happy to announce that we were able to work out a deal with Raise.com (a discount gift card) website. We noticed some of you have been using another service, but they really didn't reply to our messages. Raise.com was happy to work with us and looks to have many of the retail shops that we talk about here covered. Some of the deals will be e-codes that only work online and will be given to you quickly. Others will be physical cards that are shipped out to you. Regardless, this is a great way to shave another 5% or more off purchases. Obviously we would like to keep this partnership and that only works if you guys use the links here to show them you want to use …

Hey - We are thinking of having a new segment on The Brick Show were we specifically talk about investing. One idea we had was to do a monthly video and doing a countdown of your Top 10 most sold sets using this data: http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/topsellinglegosets.cfm Also, perhaps another using this data. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/brickindex.cfm What range is the top selling sets based on? If anyone has other ideas, please post them here. We hope to launch this later this month or Oct. Any name ideas for the segment would be helpful too.

If you were wondering what the new CAGR statistic is on the top right hand side of the Set Detail Page, I wrote up an explanation in the Brickvesting Blog. Check it out. Any questions, please feel free to ask. I think it will be an important statistic going forward...

Hello- New here so I apologize if I missed this question searching forums. I have several sets from the new Star Wars series that do not show up when attempting to find them on the Brickfolio search. The new BB-8 for example. Some that I have found missing are: 75177, 75187, 75189, 75190. Have I missed a change with the numbering structure? I simple search for BB8, BB-8 or BB 8 yields no result also. I also can't find one of the previous run sets 75183. Just curious if anyone has had this same issue and if there is a fix. Thanks so much! Alex

  6. One of the other LEGO sites had this feature for a while, but I got a ton of emails and PMs about whether Brickpicker would have something like this. It was hard to say for a while but after 7+ weeks of asking, discussing, etc. I finally was given access to this information as well and created a page to search for inventory in all the local Target locations near you. So a few notable features: You can either obtain the Target DPCI number from the Target Product detail pages, or use the DPCI search link that see available on the page. Try to be as specific as possible with your search phrases Map/Geolocation/Pins - Easily see the color coded pins that surround …

We just created a new Walmart Discounts feed page that will update a few times a day. Right now they seemed pretty cleaned out from the unbelievable sales they just had, but I am sure they will stock up soon. I will be adding the Walmart prices into set pages and other price pages so that you can see more options to buy. I added a filter on the top so that you can just display themes that you might be interested in the most. This is an early draft, we will try it out and see how it all goes. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/walmart.cfm

Hi everyone, I have been working on something for a few days. It is a LEGO set compare tool. You will be able to enter in up to six sets. If you feel that I need to add more sets on to compare, I will, not a problem. It will give you side-by-side comparison of the sets which includes the basic set information as well as the value information. I feel this will be a great tool when you are having a hard deciding on what set to buy next, wondering the difference between two or more sets or trying to come up with good pricing to sell sets. Take a look, try it out. Any bugs, report them to me. Any ideas or thoughts on what else would be good to add to it, let me know…

Hey guys, Just curious as to when the next price update is going to be? Have not used this site for very long, but it seems the prices generally update every 3-4 months? Thanks! Luke

I haven't been on in a while. Keeping myself busy. I came on last night looking to read some blog articles and forum posts and it's like this place has exploded with content and this site looks to be very active. I still have more new articles to read. Nice job on the reviews and stuff. Good work everyone, there is some really good information here.

You can't list items for sale in the forums. If you have something you want to sell, you must link to your ebay listing. I would imagine you can also link to an Amazon listing or another site you have that sells as well, but maybe Ed or Jeff can clarify if it can only be an ebay listing unless you are a paying advertiser.

It's been a while since I have checked out the forum and the last time I was here (late 2016, early 2017) there was a place to post items for sale. I don't see it offered any more. Is this no longer a feature of Brickpicker?

I'm new here, so I'm not really sure where to post this, but this is the "site information" forum, so I thought it would be good place to start. I'm looking to purchase a Medusa 71001-2 and I'm trying to price it out. Anyway, I looked it up on brickpicker and although the mini-fig is listed in the database, there's no price associated with it. I find this very odd, since they seem to be selling fairly regularly on ebay. Can anyone enlighten me?

I am announcing that over the next few days there will be a sections of the site that will updated and certain parts of the site may not be available for short periods of time. As early as later tonight, I may try to run the forum upgrade. If any of you are out there in the web world, you may have heard that Google will be starting a new standard for search results based on mobile usability. Certain parts of this site are not passing their test and I have known that for a long time. I have been working on updating parts of the price guide for a while and will hopefully make those template updates live in the next few days as well. The forum is not passing the tests too…

I wasnt quite sure where this topic belonged so i figured i would post it here. This may be an aweful idea guys so don't hold back on telling me so. What if you list how many other brickpicker.com members own a particular Lego set when you view the details page for that set? Maybe even a percentage would be more helpful to put it in perspective. I was just curious how popular certain sets are with investors here at brickpicker.com. I am sure there is a reason for not listing that info but I wasn't sure.

Is there anything that shows how many of a set new or used were sold in each dataset over the course of a month? I can find the data in the monthly listing chart, when you hover over a datapoint but this shows USA information only. Is there anyway of getting this information for the UK dataset?

I hope this is not a silly question but why October's price/transaction data is still not available?

  18. Am I missing something or what gives ? I've tried to look through different options to turn the bar "back on" or to see where it went. So far nothing. That was about the only way for me to keep track of what my progress was. Can anyone shed some light ? Thanks ! so much in advance.

I was on the site today and noticed that there have been over 1000 brickfolios created since April 4th. I just wanted to congratulate Jeff and Ed for making such a successful site and I hope more people will continue to join.

  20. jeff and ed, i tried replying to an older thread but received a "You do not have permission to reply to locked topics.". are we locking theads or is this an error on my end ? http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/312-hogwarts-castle-4842-112-free-shipping/?hl=4842 thanks,

I am just writing to let people know that at any time, the forum may come down and it may come down for a few hours or honestly an unspecified period of time. I may not shut the forum down completely, but may remove the permission to post and reply to or add new topics. Hopefully everything will go smooth, I know there will be some things that are not there at the start and will need to catch up on a few features, but it will eventually get put together. I don't have an ETA for this, but it will be soon. Just be patient with the updated one once it switches over, I am sure there will be a few things that need to be sorted Jeff

  22. If any of you have 5-10 minutes, I would greatly appreciate it if you can take this survey on Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOL). It is completely anonymous, it is not asking for any email, name, etc. Once the survey is closed, we will publish the results so that you can a learn a little more about the landscape of the world of adult LEGO fanatics Most of the questions are VERY general, nothing will make your head hurt. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/lego_afol_survey Thank you

I noticed that the value of my portfolio went down this month after the October update. I understand why, I have a lot of new sets which tend to go down in value before they go up. I am sure that you old hands understand all this, but it is new for me only having been a member for a couple of months. I also noticed that as I bought and added sets after the October update that my portfolio value went from negative to positive. That was my aha moment. In order to keep my portfolio value positive I need to adding sets to my portfolio. Therefore I went out and bought 15 Fangmechs for $19.99. The portfolio change is positive now. Lesson learned, don't stop buying LEG…

  24. Sometimes I sell items and lock in the profit/loss. Is there any chance the feature might get added to keep track of sales? Right now it looks like the only thing you can do to manage sold items is delete them from your portfolio but that doesn't keep track of the locked in profit or loss.

  25. Started by Blackjack,

I don't mean this to be an obnoxious request, but a possible suggestion which may be implemented at some pint in the future. Would it be possible to have a comment section for each review where members can discuss the opinions put forward in the review? Also, if you gave 2-5 Brickpints per comment, members would be more motivated to read reviews and give feedback. Just something to throw onto the idea board.
